Technic 2019 Set Discussion
Void_S replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, seems that I missed too much for these days. So, we're going to get something really new this time - this year is a really huge deal for Technic series. In all meanings. Interesting, will something like 9398->41999 thingy come for 42099? I would see some other muscle car on 4x4 chassis -

Haaaa... Sorry for some offtopic, but these aliases make sense more and more: remember the marriage step (front + back halves join)? "Apollo" reminded me Apollo + Soyuz coupling. Similar things, isn't it? -

Nice touch, but I have a bit different idea: - Flamingo is remarkable by it's high and usually curved neck (not just a bird that flies). What if it's an excavator with two-sections arm that looks like flamingo's neck and head? - As for the elephant, I believe it's a bulldozer, or just really something huge and big -
They are some things in our world that can't be bought and I'm sure that the honor and respect are some of them. Well done and thanks again for the great co-operation with @1963maniac! You fully deserve all the greetings! By the way, @Milan, can we ask you to add the link to the new instruction to the HOF post? It must be presented here, if the authors don't mind, off course.

Technic General Discussion

But it doesn't have any signs like Big Porsche and Chiron. I'd say that it's a 1H half-flagman rather a supercar. And 2H according to rumours is UCS McLaren Senna (how I wish something else ) -

Right. I believe that there should be some allowed minimal offset and some things that exceeds that are should fail a QC check. I'd really contact them, even just a feedback on print quality is awesome. -
42096 Porsche 911 RSR
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The gap: it provides a better brakes ventilation (and colling) taking out the heated air, plus a bigger downforce for the front axle (like the "elevated" tail with air diffuser for the rear axle) because an extra air exhaust makes a lower air pressure to stick to the road surface. It doesn't look great, yeah, but the sports cars moto is performance over the visual appearance, not vice versa. -

YESSS! Thank you! I wonder why it was still a hot topic despite it has been proved several times already that it's a part of the original car design. As for the set in general, it looks like 42039-42077 in terms of a way big possibilities to add all and every thing that you want: Tiltable steering wheel: replace a couple of parts and its done! In-built jacks: + four small pneumatic cylinders or actuators and some tubes or axles Tunable rear suspension (height and/or stiffness): + two small pneumatic cylinders or actuators and some tubes or axles again And some joky moment... Have anyone ever saw a cheap Porshe? -
42096 Porsche 911 RSR
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Large + licensed model + parts count + GT / RSR / Pro etc. Taking into account all these things any transmission will raise the price even higher making it just similar to 911 RS3 that is pointless. -
It is, partly but is as a good compromise between the range and integration: they both allows a way better control on up to 60meters distance, that is more than enough for fragile and expenses stuff, but Bluetooth is way better in terms of multi-sources and multi-receivers combinations, as it's a good and secure protocol that can be used with seems to every mobile device. 2.4Ghz radio is unfortunately so unique to be used with mobile devises and programmable software. LEGO is not for "just RC-ing" (and they never pretended to be them - remember "no outdoor use!" signs) but much more and the coming PowerUp will show it.

U-joints (aka universal joints or cardan's) are flexible connections that allow the axles to be tiled. You can find them (4L, the old ones) at your picture of the Blue Model Team roadster. -

I believe we may try to use x1825 for the rear tires: the real 911 RSR has a bit "fatty" rear tires. As for a suspension authenticity, yes, there is no a compact way to make McPherson suspension. Additionally, the torsion suspension or sway bars are seem to be illegal in TLG terms as they use the axles play that may cause some damage or deformation to them. So they can't afford using them in official models and have to use the existing parts. Or invent something new once. -
Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Void_S replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
Yes, but talking about the scale, these modes must be 7L wide: 6 too narrow, 8 too wide - I tried some ways to make them more "correct". Then it will require a lot of completely new molds, including the odd-wide windshields. Also, taking into account the even-wide tradition for System-based models, it may make them a finance fault (very expensive to sale + too expensive to produce). By the way, I love how the TLG managed to make the F40 Ferrari. It perfectly matches my MOC, so I'll share some hybrid version lately that makes it more authentic- 428 replies

Technic 2019 Set Discussion

Right, plus this photo is a real 911 RSR interior, by the way, so it has no anything "well-known" comfort stuff inside but only some LEDs, switches and air conditioning outlets (yeah, it's too hot inside). -

@dimaks13 found the inner interior image and posted in the 2019 set thread, so I prefer to put it here. I would till the steering wheel upward if it's not tillable already - I suppose that it could be an universal joint between the Steering wheel and a tan gear. -

Well, yes... The wider ones (old) would work better for the rear axle of A and B models both. -

Indeed! I wonder how we could miss it: they have a zero offset for the "flat side" (not recessed one). -

Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, as far as I can see, it's a part of the original Porsche 911 RSR 2017-2018 design. It has a cut-off rectangular hole behind the from wheels (to decrease the flow resistance, I suppose). Look at the photo (it's 2017, yes, but the body is the same for the 2018 version too): -

Bingo! I rolled the same thing in my mind looking at 42093 Corvette ZR-1's new arches - they are very flat and I can't say that they are bi-curved, more single curved like normal curved panels but with a hole for a wheel. So, if we do have a new arch here (that it 99% proven), it could be done in the same manner - single curved, and the stickers could be applied with no any troubles. -

Interesting that we got the Hydroplane again (I don't mind, by the way - it's a cheap source of Technic curved panes), but now as a B-model, not the main. -

Honestly, I was expecting a bit bigger wheels (with low-profile tires) and in a yellow color. Now, this Corvette is a bulky thing and is just screaming for some silver wheel covers. In general, it's just not a perfect shape and size for Technik parts, nothing else. -

Yet they do. The well-known DBG pull-back motor box is clearly visible at 42091. I do agree that 42091 is a mini "police 42039" whereas the 42090 reminds me a longer version of 42033+42034 pickup. It looks rockish-outlaw like 42064 but the front looks strange. -
An interesting fact: worm gear-based angle transmission almost doesn't have a torque twist and is safe for pendular suspensions. I tried some different variations with different gears and it seems that the worm gear just can't tilt the axle due to a ratio and angle.
