  1. Doesn't even go that far back. Pink only started to become a "girly" colour in the 50s. Largely popularised among girls and women in the US by then First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. Through American-imperialism/global-Manifest-Destiny/cultural-exportation the idea of pink, and other colours between red and blue, as intrinsically "female colours" spread across the world.
  2. I think it is. Specifically the price increases for playsets. I couldn't care less if they put another 200 bucks on the Titanic or another 50 on the typewriter. That's how they should offset rising transport and logistic costs. But not the small stuff. The stuff a poor kid asks their parents for twice a year, where 5 euro can already make a difference. Having been that poor kid I see this issue very clearly, and if you don't then you likely come from privilege.
  3. Is there a eurobricks topic where we can discuss the price hikes? I think it's absolutely outrageous TLG is doing that after two years of record revenue, inflation be damned. It's an expensive toy in the first place and sets are getting bigger and more expensive every year anyways. Now they're raising prices on regular playsets? Disgusting.
  4. Let's be real, neither Mando, nor any of the MCU shows are anywhere near as graphic as ST4.
  5. Yeah, y'all should probably give up hope after Stranger Things 4. The new season is extremely gruesome right out of the gate. Not that I wouldn't love a Creel house set, but I'm absolutley certain the theme is pretty much done.
  6. On my LEGO order page all my orders are listed as "backordered", except for the diner which is listed as "waiting for new stock". What does it say on y'alls orders?
  7. Oh, awesome. Now the black classic classic Spaceman is the only one left. Plus 3 helmet colours for legacy classice Spacemen.
  8. So will this be the final season in this continuity? Will there be a reboot afterwards? I'm over 5 years behind on the show and I don't think I'll ever catch up, especially since I left the target demo a long time ago and don't enjoy the show anymore. Just curious if this is the ending, because would probably tune in for the last couple of episodes if it is.
  9. Woah, another thing I was wrong about. I assumed this round wouldn't sell out due to the high prices. 4 out of 5 on the first day! Probably a lot more resellers than last time, though hopefully also just more regular fans.
  10. Welp, I did it. I ordered all of them because of FOMO. I will probably end up cancelling most, if not all because I do NOT have that kind of money. Or impulse control. Altough the Observatory is pretty nice. That may be the only one I'll get. But because the market is so f***ed right now I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to open it. For that same reason I can't bring myself to open the canopy of my UCS Slave I. 200 frickin bucks for a single piece. I hope TLG re-releases that piece soon, so I can just open mine and finish the damn model!
  11. Brickwest Studios didn't make it?! Aww, what a massive bummer. I really wanted that one. Weird how the Chalet is the most popular set. I was sure it was gonna be the least popular. EDIT: I just looked through the Chalet pictures and realized it's minifigure scale and includes minifigs. At a glace I thought it was slightly too large for minifigs. Now its success makes a lot more sense. It's basically a Winter Village set.
  12. Y'all, I feel like I'm going crazy. Has anyone seen a post somewhere about how the angle of the pyramid is wrong and that it may be possible to fix? Idk if I saw it on youtube, instagram, reddit, or twitter and now I'm considering the possibility that I may have just dreamt it. I'm really excited about the set, just now I'll have it bruned into my mind that there may be something wrong with it and that fixing it is possible, I just don't know how.
  13. Good gods, that's infuriating. Not because it's a boyband (before y'all start; they're insanely popular worldwide, and they will sell better than those 80s things would have, be happy for fans of things you're not into, get over yourself), but because the fan design is just so ridiculously lazy and uninspired. They didn't even bother to put some default faces on the figures. What a slap in the face to all those builders who actually put effort into their submissions! I've been saying this for years and I will say it again, the Ideas team needs to be replaced asap. Mind you I'm not saying "fired", I'm sure they can be shuffled around to other themes, but this just hasn't been working out for a while. We also need more transparency into the process. Ideas is supposed to be the community working with TLG, instead it's just a small group of people making baffling decision after decision. Also not looking forward to seeing how they'll butcher the cabin, like they did with the Medival Blacksmith and The Pirate Bay before.
  14. So, the existence of the Horizon sets was leaked a while ago, and as I recall it was supposed to be only one set out of a new video-game line. Did we get any reliable rumors about what other games could get sets?
  15. Do you know something we don't?
  16. Well, now I'm reminded why I don't use this website all that much.
  17. Honestly this is just kind of irritating. Imo TLG took a big misstep when creating minidolls. They really just should've made the Friends sets with regular minifigures, and not split the figure system in two by traditional gender roles or whatever. I'm certain it would've been just as succesful. Now they're creating another theme that generally has the potential of genderless appeal, but yet again they're splitting it off from the majority of playsets. LEGOs success was based on sticking to one system. And, I mean, we all know minifigures are just superior in every single way (except for maybe height, but as a tall guy let me tell you; it's overrated).
  18. That would make sense, although I don't think he was hired early enough for the first wave since designs are finalized around a year in advance. But I could definitley see him working on that theme. At least we got a guy on the inside we know for sure is gonna push for it (though maybe he'll wait til he's established himself in the company a little more).
  19. Since I'm not on Eurobricks to often, I'd figured I'll post this now. A couple of months ago Aaron Newman got hired by TLG and moved to Denmark for the job. Now you may know Aaron from his appearance on LEGO Masters US, but he first made his mark in the community by coming up with his own fantasy theme; (not)LEGO Dragon Lands. Beautiful sets that rival the best of TLG original themes while still sticking to their design-philosophy. Over the years he came up with 5 waves, the most recent of which was posted just before he started his new job. And before he even started Dragon Lands he build custom sets for Lord of the Rings, which were designed before LEGO introduced their own sets. One of which has a freaky resemblance to an official set that released later. Over the years he hasn't stopped building LotR. Seen on his instagram he put some of the official sets in display cases, and somewhat recent-ish he build and released free instructions for this amazing Sauron you may even have seen. Save to say he's a big fan. Now, he's known for building magical and fantastical things and creatures- so imagine my surprise when he annouced he would be working on LEGO CITY of alll themes. With all due respect to CITY, but it's hardly something I'd call fantastical or magical. But here's another thing- when he annouced his new job on instagram, I commented something; "Good luck bringing back LEGO Lord of the Rings!" And he LIKED it. So, I believe that he wasn't hired to work on LEGO City (at least not exclusively), but he was brought in to be a member of an elite designer team tasked to revive the theme with the upcoming resurgence in popularity and attention the Lord of the Rings franchise is about to recieve! DISCLAIMER; I am joking (altough everything I've posted is a fact, so take that as you will).
  20. My favourite game ever and this is a fantastic project! Been waiting for someone on the community to create something like this. I'll gladly support it, but after the performance of the Adventure Time set and the fact that Hollow Knight isn't a massive franchise I don't think it has a chance of passing that stupidly secretive review process the current Ideas-Team goes through. Here's hoping though.
  21. Yo guy, you better not be playing with my heart like this. Cuz if you are, imma come for you... In all seriousness this may be the first theme where I'd both want and be able to buy all sets of. I know it's early to say that, but I can't imagine a Zelda set I wouldn't want. I wonder if they'll annouce the sets at the direct later this month? April is pretty soon.
  22. Exactly! TLG feels so incredibly out of touch lately. The pandering to adults (those ugly black boxes and "18+"), bigger and bigger sets taking up shelf-space, the lack of in-house themes, that constant push for smartphone/tablet/AR integration (which fails again and again for obvious reasons). Many of their descisions have that marketing-school-graduate stench which belongs to those kind of people with soulless eyes who would try to sell us our own blood if given the assignment. And despite all that, they're still growing every year. I guess it's hard to blame them if they're just going the way of the world. Goddamn capitalism. Taking the fun out of everything.
  23. So an Avatar: The Last Airbender tabletop roleplaying game started a Kickstarter today, and they reached their 50k goal in 16 minutes. They're currently sitting at 1.6 million (Update: now at 2.2). For a tabletop game. Avatars popularity can not be understated, and this is before the Netflix show has even started filming and before Avatar Studios has given us anything. So the Ideas team now had the opportunity to make a set twice and if they chose not to do it, I hope they're kicking themselves. But then again, we don't know wether it was their descision not to make the set, or if it was an issue with licensing, because they're still not giving us any insight into the selection process. In recent years TLG has let me down a lot. Ideas especially. (I'll eat some of my words it if turns out they're actually reviving the theme, still generally disappointed with the Ideas team and the direction the company is headed in as a whole)
  24. Oh man, I hope the theme returns. Imo it's the best liscensed theme LEGO has ever done. Each set a knockout. And as far as I can tell at least two of the designers are still at the company; Raphael Pretesacque and Adam Grabowski. So if the theme returns I'm really hoping these two get in on it!
