LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Since over in the 2018 City sets forum Sir von Lego posted that there'll be a crook wearing a tree costume, I could even very well imagine that TLG will use ths new mould twice. Consequently imo it could be that there'll be a tree costume minifigs in series 18, but with of course different printing than the one in the police set. -
Thank you very much for the further information, Sir von Lego! I'm absolutely disappointed about the Moutain Police being a summer oriented theme. I hoped for different types of snowmobiles and some cool new stuff. But this seems to be some sort of re-design of Forest Police. So I've got no use for it. The smaller mining sets won't be that stunning, imo. But since the flagship set includes a small bucket wheel excavator, this set will probably make it into my collection. But I only will judge after having seen pics (and that will still take some months.

Thank you very much for this information, Sir von Lego! I've got three questions: 1. Is Emma's Cafe Of Arts about the same size like the cafe from 2015? 2. Is the House Of Friendship some sort of youth center (where youngsters meet) with games like table kicker, billiard etc. and is it about the size of the 2017 training center? 3. And how big is the Kiosk?

Thank you very much for the further information, Sir von Lego! I bet that Jet and Rocket Car are small (10 Euros) sets. I'm not that hyped about them. Why do we again get a Monster Truck?! We already had one in 2017! I'm surprised that there won't be a caravan but a Pickup With Camper set. I hope that the pickup will have a boot lid. All in all I'm curious about how this set will look like. A Heli Transporter might be a nice set, too. Hopefully it'll be a private helicopter (and no road surveillance or other themed one). But the most excited I'm about the Forest Vehicle. Something like the wood transporter from 2014? And a Skiing Recue Heli sounds great and absolutely fitting to go with some of the Friends Ski Resort sets and even maybe some of the Mountain Police sets. All in all, I think that this list is very ok - at least not that many racing vehicles like in 2017! There are some great sets to await; nevertheless I'm really disappointed about us still not getting a TV broadcast van, a post van and a pisten bully!

One question is: Will Moutain Police be winter or summer oriented? Or could there be both sets? E. g. one set with a crook escaping on a snowboard and followed by a policeman on a snowmobile. And another set with a police jeep hunting in a wood a crook on an ATV. Plus another question is: Will the Mining theme be an opencast pit or a deep mining? Hm, all in all I'm not that impressed wihen hearing about these themes since I counted on imo more appealing and fiiting ones! So I hope that the summer sets will be more exciting! Well, I'd say that the Mining theme will in some kind be the 2018 exploration theme - miners "explore" the earth with big machines in order to get gold etc. Honestly I don't see any other exploration theme in 2018 since as a realistic theme including many different vehicles and a lot of action only a desert (meaning Egypt) theme is imo possible. But this one would be - which concerns vehicles and locations - too similar to the Jungle one.

That's an absolutely amazing layout, bnesty! I esp. like this paddle wheel steamer - but all the other buildings you designed yourself are really great, too! Since I'm a huge Lego Western fan, too, I at the moment am working on a nice layout, too - but only with official sets (apart from minifigs and landscape).

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Klaus-Dieter replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you very much for this information, Sir von Lego! A Tatooine BP with two Jawas, a Tusken Raider and an astromech sounds interesting. I'm only curious about what it'll contain otherwise. Maybe one of those big animals? That we will get a Yoda's Hut with a skin colored Luke and the first OT Yoda with detailed head is great! -
Thank you very much for this information, Sir von Lego! Although this was very sure, I really like to hear that the Great Vehicles subtheme will continue! For me Moutain Police would - if anyway - only be interesting if it was a winter oriented theme: different police snowmobiles, a small police office and some snowy moutain landscape with some huts. I only wonder what the robbers want to steal there. That TLG brings Mining again is a huge disappointment! The 2012 Mining sets were very low quality. And I don't expect the new ones to be much better since a deep mining is indeed difficult to design if realistic and decent - apart from if it was an open pit instead of a deep mining. Anyway, I hoped for something more attractive: A TV theme or the comeback of Farm, Harbor or Rescue.

That may well be, scottwb2010. As addition I could even imagine some sort of food stall or even a whole snackbar or pizzeria being included since the last food stall was released back in 2013 with the City Square there (the City Pizza shop).
-
Thank you very much for the pics, Gav and cebelicamya! The skids in the Hot Chocolate Van are stupid. Plus the table is much too low. But the van itself is cool and will even fit well in the Winter Village. The right side of the Frozen Joghurt Shop with the sale to the street does look really bad and only does need about 12 studs wide place. Although I like the idea in general. But the shop itself does look great - a lot of interior and a nice and interesting exterior.

That's an interesting topic, kungfulegolover! Yes, if TLG follows its four-years-range of trains sets (which is very likely), then we will get a new Trains theme in summer 2018. It's absolutely likely that there'll be a passenger train, a cargo train and a train station. I wouldn't expect more. And since we already talk about time intervals: Construction site related sets have been released all three years. So I bet that there'll be some next year, too, and do count on some real construction site sets (no mine, demolation, ...) (with hopefully a since long overdue re-design of the tower crane). Plus I wouldn't be surprised if we got a small Police theme, too - some special forces or a water police theme. I agree with the camper van, too. A cargo truck is unlickely since there's already one in this year's Cargo Terminal set. But a tow truck might indeed be possible. Plus a tank truck hasn't been being released since 2013. For sure there (regrettably) will be some racing based vehicles. I hope for a pisten bully and a TV broadcast van, but civilian vehicles could really be any. It's absolutely difficult to say which fourth theme there'll be - or if there'll be any at all. It could be nearly anything: Either again something research based, but even a reintroducement of Farm or Harbor. Plus there are plenty of other themes which TLG hasn't been released before, e. g. TV / Studios (in City), Legoland Park, Factory, ... Since 2017 offers us only one single civilian building - namely the bank - and since next year is the 60th birthday of Town Plan, I bet that there'll be at least one hugle civilian set with some civilian buildings such as a shop, a cafe, a pizzeria, a town hall, an emporium, etc. and some civilian cars. So to put it in a nutshell, this is what I think we could get in 2018: - small police theme (water police / special forces) - construstion site (classical) - 5-9 Great Vehicles - another theme (farm or harbor or some kind of research or ...?) - train theme - huge civilian downtown set

Thank you all very much for the pics! About the Jungle Air Drop Heli: I dislike that oversized, blocky car. The rope bridge is really poor. And the structure with the cave is imo too small - esp. for that a huge set. Plus instead of the two additional motorbikes TLG should have included another small different vehicle or a bigger cave structure or more animals or more cargo stuff. Apart from these, I do like the set very much: The heli is very huge, but comes in a til know never before seen design, there is some cool additional cargo stuff and the tiger looks great. But the most I'm fascinated by the tower and the small cargo ship - simply amazing!
-
The question is whether TLG takes it so serisously with locating these sets only in the Amazonas territory or whether these should be jungle sets in general which could be located anywhere near the equator. But nevertheless you're suppsoably right, Roebuck. Thank you very much for the link, julesvincent! The pics show us even more details. Although I miss two chairs in the mobile laboratory, its interior is better than the one in last years volcanoe one (where there was no important interior for the immensely huge size of the truck)!

Thank you very much for this press release, Hinckley! I must admit that I'm ambivalent concerning this set: On the one hand it's really big, is designed very detailed, includes excellently built brick-built animals and there is even a small ticket stall next to it. On the other hand there are two things I don't like with it: Firstly its size is even a problem - namely this carousel needs extremely much place (nearly a complete huge Lego shipping box) to be stored. And it can't be devided into handsome parts which can be put easily together like it was the case with the Mixxer. Which I dislike even more is that there's no single additional stall included - no candy stall, no shooting gallery, ... Come on, a fairground does not only consist of rides!!! Consequently having to pay 180 Euros for "only" a carousel is really a lot of money - imo really too much money. But nevertheless I'll buy it and am hoping for some stalls for the fairground then in 2018!

I really like your ideas, kungfulegolover! Nevertheless and although TLG has been releasing some great research sets in the past years, I must admit that I'm (after the new Jungle theme) now saturated with these kinds of sets (although I do not approximately own all themes and sets of this kind). If TLG keeps its four-years-rhythm of the Trains subtheme, then there'll be a new Trains theme next year. Plus some sort of construction site theme in January is imo very likely, too. Consequently there will be place for maximum two, rather only one additional subtheme(s). And I do hope that it'll be something not research based, but a civilian theme such as a new Farm, TV / Studios, Harbor (which is regrettably extremely unlikely in the same year as Trains) or Forest theme! Yes, indeed: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9448&hl=ideas&st=0 Can you please merge them, Jim?

Thank you very much for the pic, Sinthoras, mikibrick and Kevii23! Imo the CG boat inclded in Sailboat Rescue looks pretty uninspiring. And I agree with lightningtiger that only one CG officer is too less. But which disturbs the most is that there is no place for the saved person on it although it's that a huge boat. But the sailboat (esp. when watching the video posted above which shows it from a different angle and with the sail not crashed) seems to look really cool! And the small rocks in the water make a nice addition, too. I'd say that for supposably 25 Euros, it's already worth buying it for "only" the nice sailing boat with the rocks. And then you can try selling the CG boat via BL or ebay or keep it for extra bricks or MOCing. Btw: Now I'm really curious about how the final Jungle Exclusive (60162) will look like, what it definately will include and how much it'll cost. It shouldn't take too long til we get pics since I bet that it'll be released with all the Jungle sets already next month. (I watched again the video and looked at the pics from Legoworld. Could it be that the thing in the small cave beneath the golden tumbler is an animal? And since it has about the same color like the majority of the Jungle Explorians' torsos (namely a light red-brown to brown), could it be that it'll be a tiger?)

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thank you all very much for the info and links! The Ninjago City Chase set looks great! I really consider buying this one since it would for sure be a nice addition to every city. The Masterfalls don't look bad either. And the ship might be cool, too, if there wasn't any super weappon or other crazy fantasy stuff inside. The most I like the variety of all these excellently designed civilian minifigs - they would be useful in every City and East Asian medieval layout. So I hope that they'll be available seperately for a reasonable price at BL or ebay. -
It's very hard to say what the Sailboat Rescue set will include. Very likely the white yacht with the green sails seen in the video. Maybe the same heli, maybe not. What is sure ist that it can't be more than maximum 70 Euros since the Jungle Exclusive seems to be a huge (and expensive) set - I bet in about the same price like 60125. According to Brickset, the Jungle Exclusive is 60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter. So it's no plane. But maybe it's some sort of a heliplane (a bigger version of the one we got in summer 2013).

REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
Klaus-Dieter replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you very much for the - like always - great review, WhiteFang! For me, this series is definately one of the best so far! And it's even the first series in which I've got use for all characters! The most I like the butterfly girl, the hotdog seller and the rocket boy. The only bad thing is the price: Four Euros for one minifigure - although this is an exclusive one and has partly even exclusive accessory - is really usury! -
Thank you very much for this information, Tragic Banjo! I'm so glad to hear that TLG didn't cancel the FG theme, but that it's going on. I'm really looking forward to seeing pics (hopefully soon) and then to finally get that set! I bet that it's the release date. But I really do hope that pics will show up at the latest in mid May. Maybe there's an early access to VIPs, too? I, too, am hoping that some of these things will be included. And of course it would even be very nice to have a truck on which some of these things fit.

In the past years, TLG has given us many specialized vehicles and themes - which I really, really like. Since it's so boring to get always the same fire ladder cars, small police cars etc., but only a bit different in style. But I'm convinced that there could easily be much more specialized vehicles and themes (with taking regular vehicles and themed and modify them into special ones) which keep the attractiveness for JFOLs and at the same time offer more variety for AFOLs. Here is one example with turning a boring regular truck with forklift into something exciting: Police Truck And Forklift (30 Euros) white-blue police truck with car doors in the cab and one side to open at the closed loarding area white-blue forklift accessory: three palettes, four road barriers and two big boxes with megaphone, walkie-talkie, baton, buckler and helmet with visor minifigs: two police officers with suits (without no cravat) Fire Truck And Forklit (30 Euros) red-yellow-white fire truck with car doors in the cab and one side to open at the closed loarding area red-yellow-white forklift accessory: three pallettes, emergency backup generator, small water pump, two barrels and two boxes minifigs: two firemen Emergency Truck And Forklift (30 Euros) white-red emergeny truck with car doors in the cab and one side to open at the closed loarding area red-white forklift accessory: three palettes, water filter machine, four water canisters and four parcels with medical stuff minifigs: two emergency workers These are great ideas, monkles! But regrettably I don't see them happening. Which I would prefer much more - and which imo would persumably be more realistic to get - would be to get more buildings from other cultures integrated in City sets. E. g. an Asian tea house in a park set, an African hut in a beachside set etc. I completely agree with you, sebitsena! A video of Legoworld DK shows a very small sailboat and the new CG heli - so there might be this sailboat as the CG Exclusive this summer. But yes, a TV truck, a new ambulance and a fairground people pack are since long overdue! I more would count on a water police theme next year. I mean: There hasn't been any water police (station) since decades. In contrast, forest police and swamp police took place already some years ago. The other option could be a much smaller police theme than the regular ones - namely a special forces theme with only three or four sets (like the oustanding 2013 one). Tropical island police doesn't sound bad either - but what do you think of arctic police or jungle police or moutain police?
-
You're right that five exclusive sets sound too much, Soupperson1. Maybe the three last are already set numbers for next year and someone mixed something up?

What would you like for the next Castle line?
Klaus-Dieter replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
1. With Nexo Knights, Ninjago, Elves and Minecraft I don't see big chances for a new Castle theme. 2. With Lego playing kids getting younger and younger and multimedia having more and more influence, I fear that a nice and more classic looking, more or less realistical Castle theme won't take place. 3. The good thing is: 2009 we got MVV, 2012 there was KJ, 2015 TLG released the ToA - so there supposably will be another Castle or at least medieval Exclusive in 2018. -
That's an excellent paddle wheel steamer, bnesty! Does it have an interior?
-
That's an interesting topic, stella2015! For me the best Castle set so far is of course the Medieval Market Village, very closely followed by the Kingdoms Joust and the Mill Village Raid - three absolutely amazing sets!
