  1. This is really cool. Excellent use of brown tones to create the woodgrain structure. The monster itself is quite cute if it wasn't for these murderer-claws. Very nice and expressive. Great combination of colours and shapes!
  2. The Assembly Square might be big and impressive and (in many countries at least) pretty decently priced - so definitely a brilliant set. The Pizza Van though is in size and pricing a much more pure and accessible set: under 300 pieces, nifty details and accessories, elegant simplicity and is just full of charme. It is a perfect little set and therefore - by far - my favourite of 2017.
  3. Hospital MOCs/Mods are quite rare, so its nice to see one! It certainly goes into the right direction. I like that the critical areas are covered from the view now, while keeping the white/red pattern. Looks very neat. I would add a floor too though. Maybe in light tan. tiles intermixed with some studded 1x1 plates could create a nice clean look while providing sufficient poseability. What I wonder though: how are the arrivals from the ambulance transported inside? It looks like the passage leading from the driveway inside has been removed. All in all though a very promising update of a really great set.
  4. Now this is certainly a clever way of visualizing the, rather factual and comparably unexciting, logistics branch. I appreciate their decison of using Lego, and it clearly pays of in regards of cuteness and in increasing the potential outreach by trying something different. People love looking at Lego scenes, and this one is just spot on. Perfectly built and set-up. There isn't really anything I would change. Brilliant work!
  5. Just wow. So many different ships, full with ideas for colours, shapes and structural detailing. Superb job. Its too hard to pick a particular favourite - they are all impressive and work great as models!
  6. Hello Rosa! Welcome to Eurobricks! As for house-building tips, you could take a look at the creator expert modulars. They use some really neat techniques to create facade structures and interiors. The fishing store as well.
  7. Looks really good indeed. Lovely colours and surface texturing.
  8. Hello and welcome to Eurobricks!
  9. These look really good. Nice and tasteful facade ornamentation just ideal for rental areas. The roof and the roof windows are really lovely as well.
  10. I think the amount of posts in each forum probably reflects quite well the general level of interest people have in certain topics. Of course the big flashy sets and MOCs are taking center stage in the public attention, but personally I find smaller builds even more appealing and I try to give them the attention they deserve (and constructive criticism as well), rather than being drowned somewhere around page 20something talking about the latest modular. I just mention De-Marco's vehicles as example here: so many, excellent builds! And there is so much more out there that deserves to be talked about.
  11. Excellent little build! The clock is, of course, a really impressive center-piece, but the minifigs bring in a lot of charme and life as well. Especially the detective... ah well! All in all beautifully arranged and wonderfully whimsical. Just for the tree I would have picked browns instead of black and slope pieces for its base.
  12. Thanks for posting! As a happy owner of the 2014 cantina set, I can really only look at this one as an expansion pack being so much smaller. The old one was so lush and had so much atmosphere. This one - it includes the bare bones, plus a land speeder I didn't know did exist. At least it got a bartender now stopping Han and Greedo from doing self-service at the bar.
  13. Yes, I keep repeating myself, but your vehicles are just lovely and full of character - and they look so good together with aukevins town. I like the vintage cars most, but things like the tanker truck have some futuristic charm that is very appealing too. And of course it shows a very clever front design!
  14. I don't like the idea of a "us vs. them" mentality regarding physical bricks and LDD. I was reading an interview with the designer of the UCS millenium falcon and he mentioned he used digital building tools as well as making physical prototypes for it. At the end of the day, if you have made a decent MOC, presentation is the key really. That is as much part of the process as building itself is. I have seen some digital MOCs here that look so real that only the colours of certain pieces, that don't exist in reality, told me its not a physical build. And at least in one case it was done with blender, a free 3D modelling software. It takes some skill though to render something in that quality. Just like a 1000€ camera doesn't makes one a good photographer. You still have to learn it. I can understand some frustrations about the pricing for Lego though. New sets are quite expensive, but at the same time, visits at local flea markets or using "fleabay" can lead to spectacular bargains. Even for relatively recent pieces. In the end it is really about how you play your cards. If you want to compete with somebody who can drop a four figure sum for a project, then you probably have the wrong expectations. But if you are inventive with what you have, you can still make fine builds.
  15. Very nice! I like the diversity of architecture styles, and how well they work even in this scale - and of course that lovely sail boat!
  16. Looks very good! And spot on, as far I can tell. Where is the picture of your minifig building his own version of his apartment? I would probably have left the doors without doorhandles. They look a bit big. Maybe grey round plates instead? Superb job so far. And I really like the detailing in the bathroom.
  17. A lovely built inn, lush vegetation and some minifigs with personality. I really like the oriental traveller asking the guard for direction.(which btw shows how well the oldschool knights still work today). Made me smile - beautiful work!
  18. So scenic! Beautiful build with a perfect selection of colours and some clever building ideas. Just sweet
  19. They are really nice. So much diversity so far. I didn't quite expect that and enjoy it a lot!
  20. I find the slope piece a bit odd, since it make the minifigs taller than the legged-versions, but then again, they could just be wearing high heels. I would be happy though if they would introduce a more flowing version, in the style of the pink skirt in the picture. The queen's dress doesn't really impresses me. Its just more unwieldy and limited in use.
  21. Yw! I'm glad to hear that! Orthanc is a really cool set, any by its nature very symmetrical. I think some deliberate asymmetry & variation in the colours (well, yes, grey isn't a colour^^) really will help to break the similarities to it. I find designing the interior is usually great fun. So many things to place and arrange. Especially mad scientists and wizards offer really some great material for "storybuilding". The main build itself can be quite tedious for me (stability vs. looks vs. available pieces), but when creating the interior, the ideas just flow.
  22. Looks good! There is of course another, Lego black wizard's Tower^^, but yours looks distinctive and stands for itself. I would nevertheless consider adding some dark grey here and there as "highlights", to give it more texture, like stoneworks between black, obsidian-like shining rocks. Maybe incorporate more fires as well. Maybe a light brick or two to create strong visual contrasts and silhouettes. A more asymmetric layout maybe as well, to give it the impression of something magical "grown" out of the lava. Well, your MOC clearly gives me ideas! For interiors I would say, it definitely needs a study, a ritual room, a place for alchemy and maybe an audience room and private chambers. For the dungeon: a hanging cage, wall chains, a lava pit covered with a grate, wild creatures in kennels (maybe a warg from the Hobbit), spiders, snakes and scorpions, thorns, chains, spikes... - all the unsettling stuff And finally some ideas for names: Obsidian Tower, Tower of Doom, Doomsday Keep, Citadel of Darkness, The Black Fortress.
  23. Welcome to Eurobricks! Your MOCs are very impressive. I'm looking forward to see more like that. Can't have too much steampunk!
  24. It is! How helpful and sljghtly clumsy it holds the crate! I guess I like big chunky robots!
  25. This is absolutely brilliant. So much attention to detail. The more I look at it, the more clever uses of pieces I see!. All this wrapped up in a spot-on post-apocalyptic style, from the main build to the amazing (and surprisingly cute!) looking cyborg and each individual minifig, down to those lovely cactuses - just perfect.
