8634 Agents Mission 5 Turbocar Chase Helicopter
iammac replied to mandaci-customs's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hey @mandaci-customs Nice reviews you have there. I have this set and in my humble (unsolicited) opinion, it's the greatest playset Lego has ever made. MAC -
Hi @Robin_IV! Thanks for the update, and don't worry too much about it. There is a time for everything, and one day you'll come back to this project. And when you do, let us know! I understand what you mean, being 22 myself and lacking the massive budget of other users on this forum. But keep at it! MAC

I think I remember that one, very innovative usage. It's kinda bulky and ill-suited for a hot air balloon (which was one of my first ideas.) It's no wonder LEGO hasn't brought it back except for that Belville run... And interesting it indeed is! What a zany contraption he has there... Thanks, I hadn't seen this MOC before. :)

Okay, so I recently came into the possession of an onion dome roof piece like this one in the Scorpion Palace from the Orient Expedition theme. I'd like to build some mocs with this part, but I really can't find where anybody has used it. Maybe some kind soul could point me toward some examples? MAC

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!
iammac replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
Dang, you beat me to this post by one minute! This will be the first Ideas set I'll be buying! MAC -
My apologies, I meant no disrespect for your design. I actually thought it was quite masterful. I was simply alluding to the ridiculous "storm Area 51" event that went over like a led balloon yesterday. You're from the US, so you might catch the joke about any piece of confidential technology being classified by the Feds as either a weather balloon or swamp gas... It was a dumb joke anyway MAC
-
In light of this upcoming weekend's events, I'm sure this is just a weather balloon. Oh wait, it kinda is! MAC
-
Thanks for the explanation and insight... I'm rooting for you on this project because I can tell you've watched well the masters on this forum. (I should probably pay even closer attention myself!) I look forward to seeing what you come up with. MAC

@Elusys Ra Arwal Ooh, thanks for the interior pictures! I like the design of those water pumps (that is what they are right?) From the looks of it, you're not going for maximum historical accuracy but something of a UCS Black Sea Barracuda... is this at all correct? Keep the progress pictures coming. Your success could change the way I use this forum. MAC

Late to the party (as always,) but I actually prefer the black over the yellow brick, and especially so if they're $20/part! The outline is shaping up so nicely, you must be very proud. I like the interior shot you've posted. The inclusion of the medium sized doors is unique and a good use of space IMHO. The cannons are a good design too! All told, I'm going to be following this thread for future updates. MAC

Very cool ships, I can imagine they'd feel very good in one's hands. Excellent work! MAC

This is really good. I like how the water has darker patches of studs to to give the impression of depth. That's a neat technique I'll keep in the back of my mind. MAC

WHOA, these are epic! The clean lines and colors of the imperials contrast well with the scrappy, organic-looking pirate camp. It kinda fits with their stereotypes, doesn't it? Your works is always lovely.... keep it up! MAC

Agreed, the models are very well done! If it's notoriety you're looking for, you don't have to get 10,000 votes on Ideas. Us mateys here on Eurobricks admire your work!

I'm not familiar with the source material, but from a consumer standpoint, this is a beautiful ship! I'm especially impressed that you got the measurements so exact that a long Lego studded rope will be taught between the masts.... or are they stand in for loose rope to be added by the review team? The galleries have a nice shape, and employ those old inverted wedge pieces (finally! a good use for them!) All in all, I can tell you worked hard on this one. Great work! MAC

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is the foremast leaning forward? You really did go all-the-way with the details! You know, I never liked the way galleons are shaped compared to other square-rigged vessels, but the colors on this model are very appealing to its (ungainly) curves. The main thing is that it looks decidedly Lego, and it doesn't seem out of place to have plastic men aboard. Does that strike anybody else as strange about this niche hobby? That some fellows are excellent at getting every last hairpin and ratline right on a model ship, and then populate it with disproportionate minifigures! Well done, if I may say so myself! MAC

[MOC] 58-gun Galleon of War "HMS Royal Intent"
iammac replied to ProvenceTristram's topic in Pirate MOCs
This looks fantastic! I'm always interested in seeing a ship made with modern pieces (for those of us who can't just buy two hundred old-style hinges.) The inclination of the galleries is very striking, especially since you've done a good job hiding the gaps. Any chance you'll buy parts and build it IRL? MAC -
Wow! Yes, this is certainly different... I like it though. Could you imagine how hard it would be to coordinate the double-decker rowing situation? Seems like you'd have to have someone there cracking the whip on everybody. Good work! MAC
-
Hey! This is really good! Since I'm a whippersnapper on these boards, I didn't have the classic lines when I was a kid. But reboots like this moc do warm my heart a little! Do you have any other modern-renderings of old sets? MAC
-
Wow! So majestic and still keeping that classic Lego feel to it. Splendid work! MAC
-
I agree with @Roadmonkeytj mostly because I am a hyperfan of playability. This looks like something I would have enjoyed greatly as a kid, and I can still think of many cool adventures that could be staged on a ship like this one. Maybe it's just the shared love for Treasure Planet which suffers from the usual Curse of Disney Passion Projects. Maybe you would be willing to bear a hand at making a ship for the Ultra Agents, who would stand in for the Imperial soldiers? I dunno, just a thought... The solar sails are a great touch here. All in all, I'm shocked I didn't comment on this months ago. It has a lot more going on than what meets the eye. MAC

Great progress, looks splendid if you ask me. MAC

1. How the heck do you have so many barrels? 2. How irresistible was the urge to make this raft? I've actually wanted to make something of this sort, but I don't have the barrels for it. It's nice to see what it looks like. It's one of those things that once you have three barrels in your hand, the idea to make a raft is almost manifest. Thanks for answering a question I subconsciously wanted to know the answer to. MAC

As a man who has been pinched countless times by hermit crabs, I still feel like those claws are undersized... All kidding aside, this is a quirky and interesting moc. Great job! MAC
