I only have 2 small sets from fright knights but I can see how the larger sets were somewhat suffering the start of an "dark" era of LEGO many themes were affected by, in terms of Fright Knights that was the start of chunky brick bases, further seen in the Ninja and 2000 Castle line, or early Harry Potter. Still, looking through the instructions of the larger sets, the concept of modularity seems really cool, despite the large pieces it had, they were probably great playsets, and the more brick built style instead of layers of plates or small pieces, has its charm too. And as a kid I did not have issues with BURPS or wall panels to build up castles, but I can certainly image a large modern updated version of Night Lord Castle , with modular tower design, but more in the AFOL style like 10305: Lion Knights' Castle. As far as the dragon goes, they were cool but I had the clips break from play on both my green and black dragon not long after, saddle clips also were known to be more fragile. Eventually I did add wings to the back of the dragon with clips myself.

Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Dragon Boat Race did release in Europe a bit later (I have it), I think around August 2019 , but the Dragon Dance set was the other winter 2019 that never was a worldwide release. -
Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The restaurant set is a very nice set for sure, and it feels like part of it was designed to finally have a set like the 2019 Family Dinner but this time as a world wide release , it's the same family, same table arrangement etc. I know it's a restaurant with so much more then that, and I think this might be the best CNY set yet. Also the fence/windows look great all across this set. -
Yeah, especially when used right, like here, to add some extra hollow space interior to an already quite small cave.

Maybe because Stall can be translated as Stable/Shed in Dutch/German :)

What next vintage set could be recreated by TLG ?
TeriXeri replied to Khargeust's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly, and "Town" has been a constant within LEGO , unlike Castle, Space and Pirates after the 2000s , Town also has multiple themes dedicated to it, even now, there's Friends, City with more buildings then before, 3-in-1 has it's town-houses, and Classic will get a set named 11035: Creative Houses in 2024 etc, and yearly modular buildings are still continued for larger scale towns. -
LEGO Dreamzzz 2024 Rumours and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Mushroom hat looks like the mushroom monster could've had if that wave from Nexo made it beyond just artwork, but certainly would fit in a Dream world theme too. -
I think the Room sets are a much better collectable instead of Cubes, even some of the new €10 4+ sets are somewhat more interesting (mainly Donut Shop does not feel like a 4+ to me, it has a big wall panel, that's it, printed parts etc are great in that small set, and even had a regular vespa scooter) Room sets also already incorporate some of the hobbies like painting, watching a movie, reading book, gaming/streaming, baking that some cubes offered. I know they got different purpose and price points, and part of the Cubes was probably to be portable + the random surprise animal color. And yeah this year has been very good in terms of minidoll amounts, all sets bigger then a polybag having at least 2 dolls has been great, and even the polybags have nice pieces/animals. That said, for 2024 , if the remaining Rooms for the other 4 characters are planned, it's probably with the summer wave of sets.

LEGO actually still did some "alt-build" suggestions for 11030: Lots of Bricks with some of the larger builds pictures in the instructions/box but not step-by-step. But that set is like an exception, likely because it just uses basic bricks and fairly easy to follow from a single picture, compared to other Classic 2023 sets. The castle suggestion from that set is probably the most complicated build, that doesn't have instructions. Classic theme also isn't about building a main model so it's a different category to begin with.

If they do bigger things for Dragon Masters at some point, it would need new mould for the horse helmets since horses changed since 2013, not only they got moving rear legs, also the head shape was changed. Perhaps the 2013 horse helmets could be used, but they don't have the same "dragon" look to it. (despite the 2013 black/red knight figures also being called Dragon Knights) Original 2013 variant (only ever used for 2 sets)

The head is also used in 80008 for the figure:

Or could be something like an Alien spaceship/space base instead, of course for a $90 can still include vehicles.

Another big space set then? will be an interesting year since it's all pointing to fantasy space, and City getting futuristic / sci-fi / aliens is a nice spinoff direction , but with those flying cars from this year, and a few of those stuntz sets, also not as crazy as imagined a few years ago. Sure, city did get silly things like sky police jetpacks, then giant magnets on helicopters, and then it got weirder with stuntz, but it's nice LEGO has room to do some fun stuff, with stuntz moving away, there likely was room for something like that. I imagine summer sets will focus on buildings again (using the 8x8 and 8x16 "module" system, as this winter wave seems mainly focused on Fire/Police, some vehicles, and lots of space. Friends will be getting a hospital, so maybe summer city will have one too (as those 2 themes overlap now more then before getting things in the same year, rather then 1 year apart)

Currently the only GWP remaining seems to be 40596: Magic Maze , despite no indication of it anywhere, it adds to basket over €150 at european versions of LEGO.com.

Soo, LEGO posted this for City (see video below) Clearly the designs are recolors of the 2022 City Space suits, which had the same dual moulded arms in azure instead, but I wonder if this will mean the 2024 City Space sets will actually use that design in their sets. LEGO 2022 City space already had logo references closer to classic space , at least in having very similar recolored logo variants on the torso, flags, printed tiles etc likely referencing to Earth (Blue), Moon (Silver on torso), and Mars (orange), rather then using a more stylized variant from 2019. I wonder if those minifig suits will be seen in actual 2024 sets, and if so, colors like lime or turquoise certainly does set it apart from anything current-day / Nasa etc. and set names do seem to indicate City doing it's own thing for 2024, regarding Hoverbike, Aliens etc being part of set names. (sets are already listed at brickset https://brickset.com/sets/subtheme-Space )

Yes, easily will fit in a suburb of sorts, next to other City/Friends/3-in-1 scale. It also makes those "downtown" builds look more like City blocks in comparison. A C set houses could be more like cottages or perhaps holiday homes, at a beach/lake/forest/farm type of environment in combination with other themes.

Turned out very well imo. I actually do like that LEGO has chosen to keep it smaller (and somewhat cheaper) instead of full AFOL thousands of pieces sets. It's not quite 4+ (walls still do use individual bricks for example) , but still open back so I can understand it not fitting with Icons/IDEAS/UCS type of collector sets but I think this will fit very well with City, Creator, Friends scale. I'm not one to collect licensed normally (only played animal crossing DS long time ago), but this is very charming and the houses/forest builds etc will still fit perfectly with regular minifigs/dolls as well, but even then, I do like the minifig designs here too.

Reminds me a lot of like 6872: Xenon X-Craft , including the red front, speaker/thrusters at the sides, and storage at the back, and funny enough, that set did have gaps underneath too. Perhaps like an update model with a more compact/updated engine system (like in the real world some jets downscaled from 4 to 2 jets with the airbus A340 to A350 aircraft) t

Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I doubt they would easily run out of ideas, but it's curious to see a listing for a Chinese New Year calendar, which could mean, perhaps other sets could release in other season for 2024, 80103 Dragon Boat Race in 2019 was a May release in China/Oceania after all, later made worldwide. June is month for the Dragon Boat festival and 2024 is Year of the Dragon, so perhaps something in summer instead of a big winter set. Also the Creator 3-in-1 Dragon (that follows up the Tiger and Rabbit from previous years) is just a very small set, so there could still be a big dragon set later. Still, Year of the Dragon would be a good time to release a set like the Dragon Dance again, as that set was not available in most of the world, not a straight copy of course as the original did come with a year of the pig costume. -
Most recent torso I could think of is from the 2022 Ice Festival set 80109 , which should be more widely available in "new" condition , compared to the originals from 30 years ago. I know it's not the same but it's something at least.

I wonder if LEGO will use this new wheel type beyond just 4+ sets as well :

Looks very nice, definately my favorite WV LEGO has made since a long time.

I doubt there will be actual road plates included with a new modular building, but those road plates still make a lot more sense compared to some custom roads, or retired road baseplates. It looks more like an alternate using lots of parts from Assembly Square (built on a normal plate) as it uses a lot of the same pieces, even down the textured sandblue walls, yellow/white awnings and checkered 1x1 street tiles. The main part that caught my eye is that no edge of a normal baseplate is visible. Normally road plates and modulars are harder to combine due to a baseplate height not being compatible with a road plate height. Overall I doubt that LEGO is retiring baseplates for modulars just to be more compatible with road plates, LEGO even still used a regular 32x32 baseplate for that new Harry Potter Gringotts set (so it's compatible with the Diagon Alley from 2020)

I think if City is repeating subject like space so soon, 2022 sets are only just retiring when 2024 sets hit the market so there's probably even some overlap on shelves , so having them different is nice. I'm sure if the Artemis Moon Landings are a success the next space subtheme after this likely will be Moon/Mars focused again. I did like both 2019 and 2022 Space lineups (not all sets but most), but I do think there's room for some futuristic sets once in a while, especially with space-ish sets from Monkie Kid (spaceship/moon cakes), 3-in-1 (cyber drone) etc retiring as well. Of course, pictures will say more , so right now it's just speculation. Beside that, Looking forward for the design of Police/Prison and Fire station , to see if they incorporate the 8x8 and 8x16 modular design. Would be nice if the prison island can integrate/connect to the 2023 Police academy office structure.

Looks like LEGO changed status of this set to retiring soon / last chance. While this was already known from sources before, it's definately official now, so just a reminder.
