  1. If they do that , I'd actually buy them, not with the current system (no matter bags or boxes, I never have seen them in local stores in the first place, and going the route of random 1, 6 , full box of 36, or secondary market is just no-go for me) I think a lot would benefit from LEGO selling a full set directly, especially in these times, with physical toy stores on a big decline, I think being able to buy a complete set, even if it's exclusive to LEGO.com, would help a lot of countries.
  2. The later Star Trek 2009 movie (Kelvin alternative reality timeline) uses very colorful single color spacesuits (actually in this case Orbital Skydiving Suits) in either metallic Red / Blue or Gold(yellow) , which even have a centralized logo. Just thought it was fun to see Star Trek suits look like Classic Space suits in that case.
  3. I think Classic Space, seem somewhat inspired by the fairly simple Star Trek (1966) uniforms, original series uniforms were very simple single color torsos for the most part. It's interesting to note that both Star Trek's and LEGO's "Next Generation" of space happened in 1987, and LEGO did switch to 2-tone uniforms at that time with Futuron/Space Police, which what looks like smaller logos/com badges to me. But I do realise that Red/Blue/Yellow LEGO were common colors long before minifigures, and LEGO space did start with white outfit figures, and not blue, so I don't see it as a copycat of star trek, just likely some inspiration was taken from it (LEGO also used white uniforms and white+color instead of Black+color that Star Trek is known for. LEGO also put the logo on the left instead of the right. Of course LEGO minifgs were also more intended as spacesuits while star trek are uniforms inside ships . Interestingly enough, the later Star Trek "movie alternate timeline" did have very colorful spacesuits
  4. I think 2024 City Space will be more Sci-fi, less NASA , since they mention mechs and aliens, and i've also seen that space ship set be named "interstellar space ship" (probably different translations) , and there's a "Space Hoverbike" set as well. And Friends is also going to space but mentions mars, so likely will be closer to Nasa space this time (Friends also already had a space shuttle so makes sense)
  5. It's still months away but for 2024, especially the Classic set that's named Creative Houses got my interest. The last time LEGO had a set like that, it was focused on windows and doors , but I especially hope in this case, it's a main focus on roof slopes as well.
  6. Closest thing LEGO would do these days would be something like this , same set, same play features, and very similar scale, but uses available/modern parts instead. I think as a set the remake is very good, just the way they limited it via distribution of GWP should not be the main way for these.
  7. 2024 looks to have a ton of attention for "in-house" Space. And looks like the closest to a "wave" of sci-fi sets will be within the 2024 City Line, with a Space Hover Bike, Space Mech, Interstellar Spaceship , alongside a Space Station and Rocket Base. (7 sets total) None of it sounds like yet another Moon/Mars type of wave (Friends is actually going to Mars), but City going it's own direction this time. And then a bunch of other rumoured products like a Space focused CMF, Alien Pack / Habitat, or Space GWP, and perhaps an Icons/Moments type of set. 3-in-1 "Astronaut" could very well be a buildable space figure as well as the price/piece count is nearly identical to 40649: Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure
  8. So far what I could find for 2024 is a "Chinese Festival Calendar" set. Also Creator 3-in-1 will have a Red Dragon. 3-in-1 has had red dragons multiple times, but with this timing, it very well makes sense, as it's Year of the Dragon in 2024, and there have been Tiger and Rabbit sets previously.
  9. Seems like 2024 is getting a Creator "Space Astronaut" with a nearly identical price and piece count as the buildable up scaled figure, it could very well be a buildable Classic Space minifig with perhaps alternate builds (going by set number it falls under the usual 3-in-1 lineup but could still be an exclusive like the Birdhouse was). Looks like Friends is going to Mars with 1 set. Even with the Artemis Moon Mission sets retiring this year, City seems to be continuing Space and perhaps will move into a more Sci-Fi direction with set names like "Interstellar Spaceship" , "Space Rover and Alien Life" among another space station and rocket base. I know City space usually isn't regarded as very interesting here (which makes sense as it was mostly Nasa or Mars) but the words Alien and Interstellar does sound they are moving beyond just current-day or near-future, and with those flying cars in City this year with colored windscreens, could mean City Space might actually becoming less "NASA" and more it's own thing, it even includes a small sets like "Space Hoverbike" or "Space Construction Mech" Also another thing for May 2024, there look to be set names like Alien Pack , Alien Planet Habitat, a Space Series CMF, and a Space GWP all for that month. Even Technic seems to be moving into a very Space/Sci-Fi direction with a multiple sets like Space Wheel Loader, Mars Crew Rover , VTOL heavy cargo Spaceship and Planet Earth/Moon in Orbit. All in all, seems like LEGO is certainly planning around the 2024/2025 manned Moon mission putting space back in the spotlight. (even including the youngest audience with a duplo set)
  10. I agree but it probably has to do with having the Pirate Ship and Castle still available with no retirement date yet. Viking Ship is listed as retiring at the end of this year (kind of strange with the release of Viking Village coming up but perhaps vikings are quite a lot more niche compared to the decades of Castle/Pirate sets) I'd like to see 3-in-1 do more sci-fi space , maybe with the retirement of 31111: Cyber Drone there will be some non-"NASA" space set again, however for 3-in-1 there looks to be some kind of "buildable astronaut" set on the horizon, perhaps a set like the buildable big minifgure but space-themed with alternate builds.
  11. Underground could be an interesting direction, could be exploring ice caves/glaciers, volcanic tunnels, crystal caverns etc. It's not like Adventurers were purely historic to begin with, like mummies and dinosaurs are already fantasy elements introduced with it (or left out easily enough). Could even have some references to Rock Raiders or Power Miners, depending what the main goal of the theme will be, there's plenty of room to go either terrain/figure/explorer heavy , vs action/vehicle/monster oriented. I'd prefer location based builds myself, but LEGO has shown it can balance location/vehicle/monster sets by keeping them seperate as seen with the Atlantis theme.
  12. Exactly, but they probably still do drive a fair part of sales. GWP / exclusives is the way LEGO.com tries to compete with big online retailers where many of the generic (not exclusive) sets can be found on some discount at pretty much Day 1. (this varies a lot per regions of the world however) Now, I do not like the concept of GWP at all either, but if it's the only way sets like Forestmen Hideout or Blacktron Cruiser can be on the market it's still better then none at all. While LEGO also has a few official stores in my country since 2020 , generic physical toy shops are on a big decline, even one of the last dedicated toy store chains that currently gets some LEGO exclusive sets is going to try to sell off to another owner (and already had a restart after a "Bankruptcy" case a few years ago). Physical stores rent/heating/worker wages cost etc + LEGO selling at higher prices compared to big online retailers that ship directly from their warehouses, just cannot compete in this type of economy. (Western EU) And then LEGO themselves even had trouble moving some sets, as even now LEGO has a bunch of sets at 20-30% off, and previously even 40% off on some 18+ sets.
  13. More and more info seems to point out to Fortnite 27.00 being a big LEGO focused update. This season (v25.30) ends next week so the next update likely is 26.00. Also other rumours seem to point out Chapter 5 (november 30 2023) is version 28.00, so this LEGO update could come sometime within this next season, but before December. Also makes sense to be it's own standalone update, as it's much more then just Battle Royale, with creative map(s) (or even it's seperate "Game Mode") being related to this LEGO crossover. This all follows the big announcement from last year : The LEGO Group and Epic Games Team Up to Build a Place for Kids to Play in the Metaverse https://www.epicgames.com/site/en-US/news/the-lego-group-and-epic-games-team-up-to-build-a-place-for-kids-to-play-in-the-metaverse https://www.lego.com/nl-nl/aboutus/news/2022/april/the-lego-group-and-epic-games-team-up-to-build-a-place-for-kids-to-play-in-the-metaverse
  14. Very true, even the magazines are done with license, "Manufactured under license granted to Blue Ocean Entertainment AG" being the main company behind the European magazines but localized translated versions then Published, Printed, Distributed by yet 3 more diferent companies in my country. LEGO still makes the LEGO pieces included ( Components made in Denmark/Mexico/Hungary/China/Czech Republic), but the little bag that contains the pieces also has "Manufactured by Blue Ocean Entertainment AG under license from the LEGO Group" printed on it.
  15. So far for 2023, there's 40608: Halloween Fun VIP Add-On Pack that showed up recently. It's different from the 2021 Spooky version.
  16. Yeah this. Tiling everything, or covering it with other often curved/angled studless parts is something else. I'd call it Studless design. The classic LEGO example of SNOT with full studs existed for a long time with the somewhat classic basic sphere/ball builds that have been seen for decades, which is definately SNOT in 6 directions usually And those have been possible for a long time as well due to the existance of the headlight brick going back all the way to 1980, and multi-direction on itself as seen in the Creator Expert logo that was used before the 18+/Icons rebranding. Of course nowadays, the amount of variants of SNOT parts like bricks and brackets has massively increased, especially introducing more and more variants over the last 10 years or so , but yeah it has also introduced a more studless pieces alongside it, a good example of that would be to see how Creator (usually 3-in-1), animals / creatures look from about 2000s to now , less studs, more special or curved pieces, still 2 different things.
  17. Guess it depends what era of Town, I mostly meant early town (1985-1993) , the core sets being 6381: Motor Speedway / 6395: Victory Lap Raceway and the cars designed around that, with the numbered slopes . And some other sets used the same colors for the numbers (6551: Checkered Flag 500 or 1665: Dual FX Racers, or 1992: Dragsters) But I see the 1996 cars 1-6 in 3 sets from that year do use your colors, so you're not wrong And then there was 1993 6539: Victory Cup Racers with another different coloring for the numbers entirely (it didn't use the already existing 2x3 slopes, but stickers instead) And then the main exception from early town was the very first , 1984 6605: Road Racer with blue number 3 was different from the later design with lines (number 1 first appeared in 1985), and 3 became red.
  18. It does have the typical GWP set number in the 406xx range, but the same set number range is shared with LEGO exclusives (for example 40650: Land Rover Classic Defender) I think since this is shown as coming August 1st, and listed as an exclusive set, I think it's just a regular set, but exclusive to LEGO (which also explains the somewhat better price ratio, and also lack of pre-order on just this set)
  19. https://brickset.com/sets/11032-1/Creative-Color-Fun 11032: Creative Color Fun has pictures now, not bad , 1500 pieces, means a fair amount of pieces per color. Doesn't look to have frogs this time around, but some other special pieces like transparent blue crystals and some transparent 1x1 cones, and some transparent opal 2x4's. 2023 Classic is my favorite year for sure, with the direction this theme is going.
  20. Yeah, I do hope this is a much wider release instead of something like Monkie Kid. Also a magazine would certainly be nice to get some unique minibuilds, or rarer parts/figures, Nexo Knight magazine in particular had some awesome mini builds that were not directly found in sets but fit into the theme really well. (as well as some story not directly found in the tv show or other books) My biggest hope for a second wave set would be some Nightmare King's Fortress , a Black castle with those purple and white accents and yellow eyes, could certainly be interesting. Maybe the 2-in-1 approach of such a fortress could be a bit like the Fright Knights castle, a wider approach, or a big tall tower (with a big yellow eye akin to Sauron / Warcraft Old Gods) , Nightmare king does look a bit like either Sauron or Lich King, and both LOTR and Warcraft had references or a big spire with an all-seeing eye to watch the region.
  21. Just today I found #30503: Build Your Own Animals - Make It Yours in a shop and it has a double sided print for the eye brick. Looking it up, it already did look familiar, and the same print has been in use since 1995. I remember even further back, there were bricks with smiles on them that would either be happy or sad. Double prints for variations of like hieroglyphs etc could certainly be nice, especially when remaking something like Adventurers, which used all single sided prints. A double sided pillar print would reduce the parts needed to get like 4 different hieroglyphs on 2 parts instead of 4.
  22. The only goat farms i've visited were childrens farms with goats to pet, or goat milk farms that usually make ice cream on-site as a tourist attraction, but there are bigger commercial goat milk (white goats) farms for cheese as well. Goat cheese is also big product of southern Europe , whereas Goat meat is quite popular, especially outside of Northern Europe/North America. But yeah in terms of LEGO's Farm / European Medieval sets, I always see those mainly based on Northern Europe (farm and castle)/North America (farm), as well, so goats being less common compared to other animals isn't a surprise. A petting zoo or goat milk/cheese farm would be a pretty cool City set tho.
  23. LEGO seems to have mostly done LOTR because there were 3 new Hobbit movies made. Also Harry Potter was not around during that time 2012-2014. I don't expect a remake of LOTR sets while Harry Potter is around, while very different franchises, Rings of Power wasn't exactly the big hit, and I think Harry Potter has 4 out of 8 movies, suited for younger children to begin with. Rivendell being a big D2C makes sense with it being part of both Movie Trilogies. Also if LEGO Lord of the Rings would get a full reboot, it would require more then just 1 wave of sets to justify it. But even in-house themes like Castle, Space, and Pirates (after 2015 retired), are currently pretty much dependant on a larger set every once in a while. Especially after 2020, LEGO has been in quite a dry spell of new themes, Hidden Side had suddenly ended by 2020, Vidiyo wasn't a big hit, Monkie Kid was a succes in China, but mixed results in US/Europe partly due to full prices, and now the next experiment is going to be Dreamzzz. Of course, it's too early to know what success the Rivendell set will bring along, but it'll probably be a few years if anything comes from that beside the other rumoured Barad Dur.
  24. Friends had a "random" color animal that came with those play cubes, like a set would always have a certain animal, but there were 4 different colors. I prefer to not have anything random , but the idea sort of existed. Still, it was a chance for LEGO to do some unusually colored animals this way. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Friends/subtheme-Play-Cube
  25. LEGO did that with the skull prints in 21322: Pirates of Barracuda Bay , and the hats and small flags from the Pirates VIP polybag, and Eldorado also uses this flattened skull print with same features as a minifig skull head. Very different from previous skull prints, including the original, the 2009 print, and the 2015 print ,which are all different from the Barracuda Bay design. The 2020 3-in-1 Pirate Ship captain also uses the old 2009 design hat print.
