  1. Does anyone know the prices? I've emailed and requested them but not heard back yet... This would be excellent for power steering... no need to deal with mechanical connections to pendular axles.. and pneumatic steering just doesn't work. The 10 year old me used to fill Gen 1 pneumatics with water. The old grey one-way valve block (if anyone remembers it?) didn't like it and would stick shut!! 35 years later someone's made a proper version for me!!
  2. the purpose of a central diff is for axles moving at different speeds... so if they're not, like 42082, then you don't need one. Doesn't matter about motors or fake engines, they're not the decision points... its relative axle speeds.
  3. Make this a TLG set! Official licenced sets are great but lack the wildness and imagination that this moc has.. i love it!
  4. Do we think there'll be a difference in power of the 2 linear actuators? I'd expect them to be exactly the same.. same internals just with a longer stroke...
  5. I agree, gearboxes are a fascinating thing to design and build... its just sitting them on a shelf as display-only that confuses me. I want to see them, and use them. Lego is about interaction. Airfix is about display... at least to me
  6. Don't be sorry! I have just enough maths to do my job, but love to see some proper analysis!! Brilliant post.
  7. Agree completely.. mind you the whole display thing is lost on me, technic has mechanics at its heart, its meant to be used, taken to bits and re-used..!
  8. Theres a youtube video dedicated to the suspension, i posted it previously and someone else has also posted it since.. if you've not seen it, its worth a watch. There's some additional links between the back axles. Really hope they're replicated it..
  9. Problem solving is a key part of technic.. quite often there are posts asking for help solving things before the poster has really got stuck into it. Not everyone is a problem solver, and people take different things from lego, but for me, sitting and trying, re-trying, iteration after iteration, sometimes for days, is what i love... its like playing chess with lego pieces!
  10. Thats what it should look like! i've got the tyres to build that... on lego adapted rims ready to go!!
  11. Correct, my Case IH moc had it with a proper tri-axis geometry. My main hope isn't around that, its the rear axles... they have a nice setup IRL, i'm hoping its that thats been replicated. The oscillation is a given, or better be.
  12. Quite excited by seeing this.. but please have realistic suspension, please...
  13. No problem, didn't take it that way!! You make a very valid point.. it is different things to different people which does make TLG's job very tricky. Its a balancing act.
  14. Its technic though... All form and poor function turns me off. Arocs was the perfect balance for me. BWE was awesome because it felt pure technic.. these cars? Not so much.
  15. Speaking as a none supercar fan, i'd love to see something new and different in the lambo - if its just another gearbox with unrealistic suspension and too many cosmetic parts then it won't be for me. But if for once it had proper suspension geometry with heave springs etc then i'd definitely consider it. I know cars have a fixed number of functions, but i'm constantly amazed as to why one of the key features - suspension - is ignored (and in most mocs too). I'd love to be saving like the fury because i needed both the Volvo and the Lambo..! Also the Volvo had better have the same suspension as IRL, if they ignore that i'll be bitterly disappointed. Anyway, new sets make me feel 10 again. So perfect or not, i'm always excited...
  16. The discussion is always underwhelmed here!! I agree with you that the pleasure for me is in the build, not playing.. and the first thing i do is take it to bits and plan my next moc. So i prefer complex, gearbox based models.. however, i also understand the control+ needs getting out there. So although multi-motor-no-gearbox sets may not be my preferred, its also not the end of the world... and personally i'd rather have that in a construction set than another car. I'm looking forward to the volvo... though news it has no planetary's is disappointing..
  17. Five motors does sound too many... my secret hope to add to some complexity to the model is that it has all four diffs, and they're lockable. But, i love construction sets so all in all, i'm pleased... though clearly its all meaningless until we see it in the flesh. I'm glass half full at present.
  18. Volvo A60H has diff locks... maybe, just maybe, we'll see an official set with lockable new diff. Me too, the real thing is a thing of beauty and has excellent suspension - just been looking at a brochure. Its got potential to be an excellent set. I'm not a car guy, so this is the big one for me this year. if its 6x6 then it will need a central diff too as the double rear axles won't match the single front even if the pivot is central..
  19. that would mean a second hub was added to the set just for the fake engine? Overkill if they have.. the price seems low for 5 motors and 2 hubs. And 5 motors seems to many for the functions of the set. If i were betting, its really 3 motors... price and functions makes far more sense.
  20. 2193... its a baby. Mind you, its mostly tipper body so hopefully and decent chassis with new diffs and planetary's..
  21. I hope you're right.. it is a flagship after all!
  22. Being happy is the best bargain in the world.. its priceless
  23. Excellent.. love the solution for the wheels. And the result works perfectly. Brilliant work! What?! Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but they should be backed up with logic. Throwing a couple negatives at something thats well conceived and implemented without an explanation is... easy and redundant?!
