  1. Excellently said.. its the point i was trying to get across when i got frustrated at people drawing comparisons and slating TLG.. you've worded it far better than i did!!
  2. 100%.. as i said in my original post, those guys are good enough to be employed by TLG - That suggests they're pretty good at it!! And for them to spend months of their working lives creating a model that is not only a great model, but also fits the tight constraints of cost prices, target RRP's, global customer base preferences...imagine achieving that only for it to be branded pathetic or a failure? It must break their heart some days, those guys love what they do... Exactly, there's a bunch on unrealistic expectation followed by hate. In 1980 when i had 850 and 851, this modern stuff would have blown my mind!! The hate makes me cross which is why i replied a few messages ago, but my love of Lego and my appreciation of what TLG provide us with is undiminished. Building a model is an adventure, (official set or a moc), and that adventure doesn't end on the last page of the instructions... thats where it starts. And a moc is never ever finished! There's always one more modification... i hope i'll be trying to fit that one last modification in as i draw my last breath!!
  3. No.. but i try to take all aspects into account. The constraints they're working under etc. And on balance i think TLG do an amazing job. If there's criticism, it should be discussed, they're not perfect by any stretch, but we live in a world where if something is not to our taste then its the end of the world, or if someone's opinion differs then they should be hated - snowflakes basically. This is what prompted my initial message, they were called 'pathetic' and 'failures' which is a total over reaction and very childish. I think we should definitely discuss the issues, whether its a function that works poorly or a price tag thats too high, but terms used by some are extreme and the hate levels are too high.. i just think we should be kinder in how we discuss TLG sets
  4. Totally agree... and that duplicity is infuriating! Absolutely... for a forum thats for people that love lego, lego get a lot a negativity. Far too much, it can't be pleasant for them to read some of the comments... we should be cheerleaders for everything Lego provide us with! I love lego.. simple as that!
  5. Are they trying to compete? I'm not so sure... they're providing the tools and some inspiration, but i'm not sure TLG see's its role as competing with moc's. I know its a popular pastime to hate official sets and the designers competence*, but moc-ers are not operating within the same constraints as the designers at TLG, so to compare the total freedom of members of this forum to the corporate constraints of a global (and very successful) company shows a lack of understanding at a very basic level... naive to say the least. When you build a moc do you consider cost/margin/GP's? No. Do you consider its appeal globally to varied demographics? No. *(although their job is designing sets for TLG, our job isn't so maybe they're not actually that bad at it..?) Constructive criticism is valuable, no doubt, but some of the negative rants get my goat! I love technic but still dislike some of the sets, i don't feel the need to call them pathetic or failures though...
  6. The issue is the bonnet is too low - the top of the cab isn't far off, it just looks tall due to the low bonnet. I don't think its a control+ issue, higher bonnet would give more space. Anyway, i'll still buy it because its still a pretty good technic set. Never seen a perfect one yet, maybe never will, and i am glass half full.... so i'll buy and i'll enjoy it!!
  7. I couldn't agree more, i see so many 'supercar' moc's with huge attention spent on the interior and the number of gears.. lots of talk of replicating the real vehicles technicality, then some basic suspension thrown on as an after thought.. i've mentioned it many times as i've never understood why its neglected. There was a F1 moc a while back that had too much sag and was requesting help... F1 cars have heave springs which were missing from the moc, adding them would make it more realistic and fix the sag. Seemed an obvious win win... ...anyway, what i'm saying is, its awesome to see it being treated as the amazing technical element it is. I actually find complex suspension more interesting than gearboxes!!
  8. Kawasaki Heavy Industries is bigger than VW Group We're safe!
  9. I agree completely. I'm not a car guy, but this is an amazing model.. looks fantastic, and with the bodywork taken off the monocoque look just as good. Very very impressive (and i'm rarely impressed by cars!!)
  10. Not good... no front mudguard? I ride bikes, kawasaki zx10r, so maybe my eye is slightly more critical, but this isn't for me.. i did worry that it would be incredibly difficult to capture the lines of a bike with lego, and i was right to worry. This needed to be double the size to get some finesse to it... hope they don't do a kawasaki next!! Its great to get some variety in the sets, and as a lover of sports bikes and technic, i should be the ideal market for this set.. but its just not quite there for me.. but i still applaud the fact that it exists. growth will be massive.. there's demand. recessions are due to no demand, as soon as we're all set free, every one will buy everything!!
  11. Release it in Orange as the General Lee and i'll be interested... F&F? Yawn!!
  12. I am definitely going to build this.. have you a video showing it working?
  13. Brilliant.. loved your previous too. Love the logic and the smarts being used. I'm a little bit in awe..
  14. Strong words! Be kinder.. I've never built the perfect moc, i've never seen the perfect moc.. perhaps if someone suggested an improved outrigger the OP would welcome the input!
  15. I'm not a car fan, but one thing that always strikes me on both official sets AND most mocs - realistic suspension is totally ignored. I think i've seen one example of anti-roll, about the same number of heave springs. Not sure why this brilliant area of technicality is totally ignored by TLG and MOC er's alike
  16. I don't crave perfection, or criticise the lack of it.. i love the geometery of the outriggers. If its not perfect, then great, there's more fun to be had tweaking and making a V2.0 - its a great moc in my eyes.
  17. Brilliant this! Those outriggers might be my favourites. Its not 'pretty' but its a very handsome beast! And thats exactly what a crane should be. Really like this! (i've had flu-like symptoms for 5 days.. very rough on the first day or so, improving now though... no idea if its just normal seasonal flu or covid-19. Average age of fatalities in italy is 81... if you have no under lying health conditions, and aren't elderly, chances are you'll be fine... i'm self isolating just in case)
  18. Glad i'm not that zodiac sign!! Yep.. thats me.
  19. Thats it! Could remember what it was but thats the one...! Takes me back!!
  20. Reply back... You could buy the aquabrixel in Amazon or Ebay as below and the price is $55(One box - Two pumps) including delivery cost
  21. I think it was a different one, but exactly that idea!! I was blown away by the concept when i was very young... i still remember how it made me feel!!
  22. I remember those when i was a kid - the ideas book - seem to remember an american style truck and some machine with a long length of track with rack pieces on to 'programme' something... it was a long time ago, but i used to love that book. this one!! HA!!
