  1. Perhaps this was a backup design in case the rollercoaster didn’t come off. It may turn out to be released next year. If they release it this autumn, I think it’s likely that we’ll have to go without in 2019, or possibly a smaller set, like the fairground mixer, perhaps.
  2. It’s interesting to note that this set has dropped in price on the seller area of bricklink recently. I don’t have it, and am quite tempted as there are some sealed new versions available at not much, if any, over listed new price.
  3. Interesting that this has been visited before, but not a lot has changed. After posting, i remembered that when i purchased assembly square and brick bank, to save space in the car, i put the entire contents of brick bank into the assembly square box. It wasn’t rammed in either. I think the shelf space arguement is probably winning over the other considerations. A shame, as i think its time for a change.
  4. I can confirm that they’re all available in the Sawgrass Mills store near Fort Lauderdale in Florida too.
  5. Dear all, I’ve been a 35+ year fan of our plastic brick, and am now struck by how much fresh air there is in a typical box of lego. I realise there is some there for protection however, i think its time to raise the question of perhaps trying to persuade TLG to reduce the size of some of the boxes, in order to save shipping, storage, and packaging costs, not to mention the environmental footprint. Take for example the creator 3 in 1 rollercoaster, 31084, a USD 90 set, which, if you discount the very heavy and thick instruction manual, contains just around 900 pieces, coming in a less than a kilo in weight. I opened the box, and removed the contents and re packed them to roughly 50% of the volume, using half the box. The same could be said for most of the modular buildings, and other creator sets. Since most of these are purchased by adults, i would guess, perhaps the shelf space argument used in the past is no longer relevent. Especially since may of us buy from the online store, for our VIP points. What’s other peoples opinion this? Can we maybe ask TLG to consider a move in this direction?
  6. Whilst I’m a late starter to the modulars and only have the last 6, and would love to have more, the way they’ve evolved to have more detail inside would make any re release of Cafe Corner, or any other, so expensive for a 32x32 size, as TLG would be adding upwards of another 500-1000 parts for the interiors, and have to redesign the walls to take the new insides. I think its best to just move forward with new ideas and new designs.
  7. This is a fab mod, and now I’ve built mine I’m desperate to do the same. I don’t suppose there are any closer images looking at how and where the chain and toothed gear sits in relation to the track. Also im not sure if it’s just mine, but even pushing the cars through the skull on the original version, there is insufficient momentum to take them round the bend to the larger drop. Anyone else had this?
  8. I think at least one would be good, to ´even up’ after assembly square.
  9. It’s been a bit quiet on here for the last month. Has anyone got any inkling of what’s next in our modular range? No leaks or suggestions have been forthcoming as far as I can tell. Not sure what sort of time of year we usually get hints.
  10. You do see them a lot more in mainland Europe. Especially Italy. We have a few here in Switzerland too.
  11. This is the quandary that’s now facing me. I’ve only really collected the modular buildings recently, and just picked up the Ferris wheel (bigger than it looked on the box) and am wondering how I might combine in, the carousel and hopefully the rollercoaster into one big design. I’m considering a theme park, where as many of the modulars play a part as possible. Perhaps facing into a square with the rides all in it. DD, PR, PC, all kinda fit, and I can just about stomach AS, but BB. and DO don’t quite work. I haven’t got the rest. I’m also MOCing a modular Lego store with the 60th special set as an outdoor exhibit which may form part of one side.
  12. Yeah I saw that, but still thought it wouldn’t stand up to much more than a shift from one shelf to another like that. I’ll have to see when it’s built in the bricks in front of me I guess.
  13. I agree, this would be way too flimsy to move. One of the first things I’ll have to do if I get it, is to find a way of strengthening the base, perhaps with a few layers of regular bricks in some sort of grid beneath the plates. Part of me is surprised that they didn’t build the frame out of technic beams using pins and other technic lifting arms. Another part of me also wonders if they thought about making it look more like the traditional US wooden style coasters, and if cost became prohibitive.
  14. I tend to agree that using the Capitol set as a clue is possibly a fools errand. I’ve said stuff here before about what I’d like to see, and as with many of the others, it’s generally hospital, museum, train station, police station. Lets be honest, whatever it is, 90% of us will buy it regardless.
  15. My god, the DO looks tiny. If and when I can get enough cash together, it’ll dwarf everything in my collection but GBHQ.
  16. That’s exactly the kind of idea I thought of. My only concern was if the motor in NXT has enough torque or perhaps too much. Hiding them in buildings seems quite possible, and 1 NXT control could run all 3 rides.
  17. Just been rewatching the video, where it shows motorising it. I know it’s boost compatible, but I don’t fancy buying that as I have a mindstorms 2.0 set in storage, which has 3 motors which can step, as well as the sensors. Perhaps if I did succumb to buying the Ferris wheel, carousel and then eventually this beast, then I could automate the 3 together. Any thoughts on if this is possible or worth doing?
  18. Not sure I’ve seen many airport down the local city high street, but the train station idea does seem popular. I think that might be something TLG might do if they release a minifig compatible expert train. Not sure how likely that is though. The last one I believe is highly sought after, but rare as rocking horse poop.
  19. Totally agree. In fact it’s release has made me seriously consider collecting the creator expert fairground rides, which I’d avoided until now. Just wondering where I might actually display them as my display area is already full with modular buildings.
  20. I wonder if the reason we’ve not seen one is because, certainly in Europe, a lot of police stations are not the most exciting buildings to look at, often being just concrete blocks. There are some lovely ones, of course, which tend to be older, but perhaps not one style which would sell well globally. There have been some great MOC police precincts, but they tend to follow US style.
  21. I wasn’t completely blown over when I saw the release vid, but the more I looked, the more it grew on me. There’s some nice building techniques, simple but very effective, which I really enjoyed doing. Having slid it into my admittedly small layout, i think it’s just as worthy as any of the others. It lacks intricacy of architecture of assembly square say, but the clean lines of Art Deco make a welcome change from the boxy buildings in DO BB and AS.
  22. Lego are usually pretty good at supplying missing parts. I’ve only had to do it a couple of times in the last ten years or so. If it’s becoming more common, then perhaps QC isn’t what it should be. Especially with spelling mistakes etc in stickers, and instructions having errant arrows.
  23. I got mine on Friday, (waited for the free 60th set) and it too is missing Expert from the box, although the logo is present. It does say expert on the instruction book cover, however. Perhaps it’s a first box print run error. Also noticed on page 157 of the instructions, an errant arrow pointing to the left hand side white section, which neither connects to the parts box, or is even related to any build at that stage. Has anyone else seen this? I’m also going to look at trying to fit some booth style chairs and the window I think, as most diners in the US tend to have seats there. I think it’s missing them. Anyone else agree or is it just me again?
  24. Sorry haven’t replied. I decided to take a eurobricks break. I quite like what you’ve done there. I think the left hand building could stand alone actually. The wider blue building is also really nice. Makes it seem much more complete somehow. Nice work. I don’t have the funds to buy 2 copies of each modular, my mods tend to be much more mundane.
  25. Thanks for confirming that some members of this forum has almost no sense of humour. I thought eurobricks was supposed to be a friendly place for us to whittle away a few minutes a day on our collective hobby. It’s a shame that we have to get a bit snarky about things sometimes. I don’t want to start some kind of flaming exercise so I leave it here.
