Or you can take your time and incorporate both into your model... A rushed ugly model built around a bunch of power function gimmicks may impress some people, but more people will be impressed by a well thought out overall build... -

Technic Update
Paul Boratko replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
True... But these outrageous Tank-Like Vehicles equipped with Multiple Weapons of Death protruding from every which direction are purposely there to create the "Fantasy" of "Death" Almost Every Theme in Lego insists on having some type of battle going on... I mean really, what is the real difference if a Ninja Minifig chops of the head of anther Ninja Minifig or if a Policeman minifig has a pistol and points it at robber minifig? Isn't it all still "Fantasy" Violence and Death? And I am still convinced that "Plant" in the 10220 Camper Van is representing a Marijuana plant... Lava Lamp - Check Hippie T-Shirt - Check Funky Psychedelic colors - Check Potted Fern? - I don't think so -
What exactly made these sets "Limited" anyways? Other than the Box saying so...? The 8041 Race Truck also said Limited Edition on it to, and it was around for quite some time, in fact it was on Lego's Shop at home site for about a week at almost 1/2 price... They probably had more of these sets produced then any of the other ones...

Technic Update
Paul Boratko replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego makes Tanks... But they are normally covered in horns, spikes, buzzsaws, flick missiles, swords and other various weapons of destruction... You know, because Lego doesn't want to make anything that resembles anything that would be used in a "War"... When you look at these vehicles that Ninjas "Roll" in, a Sherman Tank seems a little stale.. -

Technic duels!
Paul Boratko replied to Omikron's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Completely agree... I have gotten enough crap from other builder's fanboys in the past... To be quite honest, I think all competitions between builders is kind of dumb... Didn't someone create a Tension between Builders thread here just last week...? As everyone knows, I only build cars and I also do my best to help and promote other people's work who also build in the Automobile theme... I don't like to think that I have to compete with them... That kind of defeats what my main goal as a builder is... -

Can anyone sell MOCs?
Paul Boratko replied to mobi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Selling the instructions via download is nice because there is no product to move... I still have issues with some characters on Ebay thinking they are getting a full 1,800 piece kit for $10 even though it clearly says "Instructions Only" about 10 times in each listing... -
Speaking of Sexual Activities, I always chuckle when I go to shows and see these randomly placed in minifigs hands... Because I have yet to walk down past the Local Fire Brigade or Pet Shop here in my town and see someone standing outside of one of the shops holding a freaking Hot Dog 2 feet long with No Bun...

Can anyone sell MOCs?
Paul Boratko replied to mobi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've sold a lot of MOCs and Kits over the years and to be honest, there is very little money to be made from doing so... Spending hours scouring and shopping around for the best prices on parts from all over the world to build a model or put a kit together isn't worth the $100 profit that you might see in the end... Then if you use places like Ebay to sell your stuff, you have to pay 9% of the final cost up to $100 USD plus your initial insertion fee, then be prepared to get jacked for another 4% from Paypal... -
Of course Lego is going to have double standards when it comes to Billion Dollar Franchises that they know will net Big Money as compared to others that may have a small cult following and not generated much money... C'mon, we all know that Wolverine is as violent as they come... Along with this list of "Standards", I am fairly certain that models are looked at from a financial standpoint at the same time: How much is this going to cost us..? Versus How much money can we expect to make..? Aa shown, Cuusoo models that require licensing are going to have the advantage when it comes to supports, but be at a disadvantage when it comes time for review...

Custom Lego Parts
Paul Boratko replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
LOL... I actually took an axle and stuck it into the bushing end and put the pin end through a liftarm almost up to the bush and used a new razor blade to press downward into a piece of wood and sheered through the hollow portion of the pin... I made 4 of them and they would work pretty well if you were in a pinch for a Black Bushing... I am still sitting on about 60 of the actual Black Bushings, so I didn't need any of them, but for some reason I just felt the need to experiment last night... -
