[MOC] Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
jgw replied to Rolic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lovely to see a MT creation again! You don't see lots of them here. I like your model a lot! I've been experimenting with brickbuilt cars lately too and I find it difficult. I love how the model doesn't have many gaps, that makes it lovely to look at. Also, the wheels, what are thooossee -
[PORSCHE] GT X
jgw replied to marceriusLV's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
O man, there are so much porsche entries right now on EB, that I struggle to reply on every post with an original answer... Now this model. This model is sure unique. Some kind of lowrider combined with Porsche! Great thinking! I like the balance between white and black. The model is without a doubt white, and the things that need to be black are black. Good job! -
[MOC] LCPD Police Cruiser
jgw replied to syclone's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think, if you take away the reference picture, it looks great! Sure, the model looks somewhat like the "real", but some thing are out of scale. But that aside, the car looks great and all the function... So much in a little space. I must say: Good job! -
This is a beauty! I like the use of the panels, clean and not to messy! I think the car is well replicated! But one thing, I think the flex axles at the fenders would look awesome in orange too. With the black it looks absolutely cool, but I missed the "bumb" in the fenders. I think if you change it to orange, that would be fixed. On the other hand, the black looks awesome, and adds some wellneeded contrast! Btw, why dont I have a friend with a garage full of porsches?!

[PORSCHE] Porsche ZERO
jgw replied to zux's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Brilliant, pure brilliant! I think, (read jgw thinks) that this is a worthy candidate! It does not only feature a realistic Porsche body, but the propulsion is just so original! This is sure also my dream Porsche! -

Regarding the pumps, I think Sariel said that the hoses needs to be rerouted, so I think they can't be used together. This can easily be modded ofcourse -
[MOC] American Tractor Truck
jgw replied to Aleh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice truck! i like the color use. I have some tips for you, but they are my opinion how I would like the truck more. I would remove the wheel covers, as they make the tire look thin. Instead, make something in the rim. Second, which I think is a must although it can be difficult to apply. The front windows of the cabin would shine if they were inclined. Place them under an angle, it would definility look good! I think that the truck is very nice!- 13 replies

Tire and Rim Compability
jgw replied to jgw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Good to see some combinations already! As said, different looking tires + rims can give you ideas for a new MOC! Double tires work great for trucks and so on and sofort! -
Tire and Rim Compability
jgw replied to jgw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
well, not fully. The post that I made is about "illegal" combinations. The wheel card on Sariel's website is about the legal combinations, if you know what I mean -
Hey guys, Yesterday I was a little out of inspiration for my current projects, so I started doing those useless things everybody does. But this time there came something suprising out. I found out most new small scale tires are interchangable. Maybe this is new for you, maybe it isn't. I like to see this topic become a tire topic, where strange combinations are discussed and posted. For moderators, if this topic is useless or needs to be discussed somewhere else, then it's my bad So, let me start first. It's about: The 30.4 x 20 wheel and all compatible tires, The 30 x 14 wheel and all compatible tires, The 30 x 22.5 wheel and all compatible tires. Hope this is usefull, and feel free to post other combinations!

[WIP] Scania WLS
jgw replied to jgw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh oh, spectators with experience! Get outta here! Jokes aside, love to see that you know the truck so well. I try to make it as authentic as possible, although some things are going to be fake. It will take 5-6 weeks untill any furhter progress, I am now sorting all my parts and at the end of the week I am going to "enjoy" the french baguettes for 3 weeks. I will be back with serious muscled jaws -

You sir, deserve an oscar! You helped a very desperate man out of his trouble! Thanks a lot! The pictures are crap, I know. Good thing you found out. I must say I am not an expert with this scale, but for me it is the most fun. Maybe I will make a file, if the model is a succes overall. Thanks -
[VIDEO REVIEW] 42053 - Volvo EW 160E
jgw replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think this is a beautiful set, Lego does a great job this year! But as mentioned, the orange is messy amd the tubings are too. I also think this was a great oppurtunity for TLG to introduce smaller scale tractor tires, to increase stability -
The Claas doesn't have a towbar, does it? Otherwise it could use an huge dragged mowing attachment, with 3 mowers. But if it does lack an towbar: at the rear a static attacment with 2 mowers + at the front an static mower. I like cyclomowers a lot, but a drummower is also very nice. (I dont know if I used the names correct, blame Google Translate. Hope I get the Claas soon, so I can start working on it.

[WIP] Scania WLS
jgw replied to jgw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The progress so far So, after weeks of building, rebuilding, taking the model apart and banging my head against the wall out of frustration, I made some good progress. I did rebuild the whole chassis. It now features: Pendular suspension on all axles, Both rear axles differential driven, Front axles steered at a different angle, Steering through a wormgear. Lifting boom actuated by 2 LA's. The pendular suspension was quite easy. The stiffnes was easy to get right. The front 3 axles are supported by those 2x1 rubber pieces, the last axle isn't. The rear axles pendular movements aren't that stiff, but it is not needed. The biggest part of the weight is gonna be on the front, so the front axles are much stiffer. The rubber pieces are 2 studs underneath the pivot point, resulting in a very stiff movement. But seeing in the pictures underneath, it performs quite good. The wheels dont even touch the fenders on the picture. Front axles aren't driven, It would result in a way to big and complex axle, and I need the space so much. The boom was the most irritating aspect of the model so far. At first I wanted it to extend, like in the real truck, but the space available restricted me to a static boom. Placing the LA's was a progress of finetuning, but removing the "housing" of the LA's did the job. It now works almost perfectly, but the connection of the boom to the chassis is still a little flimsy. The whole model is going to be black, so I might need some practising with taking the photos. What I want to do The Scania isn't barely finished yet, so lots of work to do. What I want to have at the end: Fully working loading of the lowbed, A gearbox for changing between loading and driving, A detailed outside of the cabin, Hopefully some interior, "Clean" some things up, Make it all more rigid. Tips and improvements are welcome as cake! (Made up that saying myself I think. ) Final I must say I enjoy writing such posts as this very much, it makes me feel good. But I have a question for you guys, maybe some of you know more than me about the WLS. I know a little about the truck, but my dad is only allowed to drive the "4-tonners", the MB's and the Amaroks, so he couldn't take a Scania home for me. Okay, the real question. Most versions of the Scania WLS do have an container catch-thingy (picture includen underneath), and I wonder how they attach those to the containers. I know how they are connected to the truck, but how are they connected to the containers? Thanks if you know. Sorry for the crappy pictures, I promise that the finished model will get proper photo's Flickr link: https://flic.kr/s/aHskE8QTX5 -
[MOC] Small Blue Trophy Truck
jgw replied to paave's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This model shines in its simplicity! Very good job! I also like the color scheme, but the front headlights look a little too "pussy" for me. A little more agressiveness wouldn't hurt it IMO. And the steering system is very smart, but does it suffer from toe-in or toe-out? I might wanna copy the suspension sometime. -
First time I am browsing the 'studded' forum section of EB, not disappointed! If I may ask, do you have any instructions or an LDD-file around? I would like to see this thing standing on my shelf! It is so smooth and stylish!

It works NOT with the 7L, but it DOES with the 11L. The worm gear fits between the 7L with some studs magic, but you only have 1 stud of movement. If you use the 11L you got way more movement. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=128437&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 Here you go, post #4 or something shows the trick

[MOC] Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG
jgw replied to damjan97PL's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice! On my way to school I always see a beast of an AMG, this one looks like a very good copy. But one thing, remove or remodel the spare wheel holder. -
Longer Studless Beams
jgw replied to doug72's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Why doens't Lego release a model out of one piece? I don't get it, I mean, it is difficult enough to build 2 pieces together, let alone a complete model. -

First of all: hell yeah! About the color, I would choose for red with black or white racestripes. Or just red, most easy color to build with IMO -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
jgw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't know of it's mentiont yes or no, but on the engine deck at the rear, there are 2 orange curved panels. They look like 3x7 or 3x9 or so. They seem new to me? Anyway, I got a picture of a orange GT3RS from Instagram, Carswithourlimits. Seems legit. It is a screen capture from a low quality pic, so low quality. First this set was a must buy for me, but I revised my mind, And I found €300,- a lot of money. A short list of what a 15 year old kid could do with it: -Buy 150 snacks from the cantine at school; -Visit the supermarket like about 60 times; -Buy all albums from Coldplay and Hans Zimmer (yeah call me a freak) -Save it up just for something in your boring adultlife. But as I guess I am one of the younger people here at EB, you don't all have to worry about how many "frikandelbroodjes" you could've bought. The list wasn't made to hold you back or something, I just wanted to share my story . enough storytime, kids must go to sleep now. Great set, some flaws but it doesn't matter. EDIT: Isn't the rear wheel steering just suspension geometry? heard that somewhere. Also 1.5 degrees is something you can even do with the slack of the pieces.
