Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion
TheDesuComplex replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Simply amazing. I was following that Lego Ideas projects closely and was quite sad to see it shut down. I thought that Lego couldn't produce action figures? This might mean that they have gotten constraction to be considered 'construction' (which they own the liscense for) more than 'figures' (which Hasbro owns the liscense for). -
Whining about the wait certainly won't get images to come any faster, or encourage those who are taking the pictures. Have patience, please.

Has anyone theorized about what these blended masks signify? I think it will be the Toa's golden masks when they are able to, under duress, tap the full amount of elemental energy from the mask. I, personally, won't be putting them on my Toa (on display at least) because we aren't getting blended masks for all six. I'm happy that we are at least getting a trans-orange mask for Tahu even if it's not blended, and I might just stick a Kaukau on Gali for the irony of it. On the actual sets themselves, they are looking really good. Not 100% perfect, but closer to 85%-90% in my opinion. They certainly don't feel like filler and seem to have at least some thought behind them. While it's a shame to see that my prediction of the bones being light gray is off, but the silver that they seem to be is not a bad choice either. One idea that I had was to give them all Skull Spiders for masks, but I am still glad that we seem to have gotten two or three unique masks. Another side-affect of Constraction being hated by the FOL community as a whole: Getting the short end of the stick when it comes to leaks and toy fair news.

It's probably just because he uses the sandstorm to get around so often. Other than that, I see him use his boomerangs a ton. I know, it was a missed opportunity to show off the grabbing function. Perhaps he can pop back up mysteriously (which I would not be surprised about) and use it.

Yup! Eleven episode dedicated to the Skull Army is gonna be fun. But yes, they are far better then Hero Factory. May I also the skeletal hand is gray.

According to the subreddit, it's in Italian and these are the links. Episode 7 consists of all the Toa meeting up, Kopaka and Tahu getting in a fight, and getting broken up by Onua who is no doubt speaking some of his wisdom. Episode 8 consists of a fight against LoSS- he defeats each of the Toa individually, but together they ar able to get rid of him. Episode 9 consists of Tahu seeing a vision of Ekimu's tomb and the Toa walking into the ancient city. A skeletal hand flies out the ground and credits roll. Presumably, Episode 10 will start off the story of the summer wave.

I imagine that it's a static piece. The way I am imaging it is like the 'BIONICLE shell', but with a cloth-esque detail instead of a mechanical look. It might even have texturing on the 'cloth' like slope bricks. There is no way it is actual cloth though, because that would be such a specialized piece and it would probably cost a lot to manufacture in in some way that it attaches securely to the pegs of a shell.

I suggested Light Bluish Grey because bones aren't white- they are actually a light tanish color. However, Light Bluish Grey could evoke old, grimy, dusty bones; and age/decay is already sort of evoked in the 'torn cloth-like' armor. If a skeleton comes out of the ground, it won't be the perfect, pristine white that Lego uses. Besides, that shade of grey is not that far off from white. Again, this is just a personal wish and I bet that they will use white because that is what everyone expects.

Okay, sorry. I had just taken a momentary glance at Bricklink's list to find the color name. I meant the color that Nex and XT4 used, because we have already gotten bones in that color and it would work well as bone.

I would like to say that I hope the bones pieces are not White, but 'Very Light Bluish Grey'. It's an off-white color that has only been used on a couple of sets (Rocka XL, Breakout Nex, and XT4 specifically) and I think it would work so much better to represent dusty old bones than a pure white color.

Good luck, looking forward to hear your opinions! I have now sat down and formulated my own opinions on these sets: I'm still holding out more solidified opinions on these sets though, because we will probably see better prototypes at Toy Fair pretty soon. I am also excited to finally see what that March GWP is!

Quite a few things could awaken the Skull Army. Awakening Ekimu, or defeating LoSS, or trespassing on the ruined city could all be what triggers it. My bet is on the trespassing. Edit: To me, those axe pieces look a lot like Strakk's axe and the blade pieces look a lot like Kopaka Nuva's blades. If they are making a dedicated video, give them some time to record it, upload it, etc. I am betting it will be be part of their next episode though.

I'm pretty that's what is going on here. In my idea you turn the trans parts to fire the shooter, which is anchored down with a pin. Yup, I am looking forward to his bow! It looks like an awesome weapon in the making.

I can agree fully. Give these time to be finalized and released and people will be all over them. I am reserving my judgement on them myself until we see better pictures.

Thanks for the links! I actually found it a moment or so prior. I will take a good look in a moment, but from the glances I have seen I am not sure how good the sets look.

If it's allowed (which I doubt it is), ditto. How good are the images?

Did someone say that it's too wet outside? Thanks, Gali! Here's my mods of Gali, Master of Water: My mods to her include: Replacing her silver with titanium and gold Making her arms entirely transparent, giving a 'water spirit' effect I would like to ask for opinions on the gold. While it sticks out in the pictures, I have since replaced her upper arm armor with 3M gold shells, and it looks even better with her Golden mask on. I'm still sorta dissatisfied with the upper arms still. I also have pretty much my finalized my Ekimu: He's missing a few pieces, namely his shoulder-pads, and I pulled a couple of bits from other sets to throw him together for photography. The omitted pieces include his shoulder-pads (because Chima), his hammer bits (that I will talk about in a second), and the MoC (of course). A few comments I want to make on him include: The mask. I decided to use the Golden Skull Spider for multiple reasons, mainly coming down to the fact that I have an extra mask that isn't going anywhere, there seems to be little-to-no canonical significant to it, and that it enables to me to come up with the neat little psuedocanon story above. (Spoilers: in the end of my story he will get the MoC and dons the Mask of Animal Control (aka this mask) to disband the Skull Army, having learned how to control the mask. This will lead to him learning the art of control and being able to withstand the corrupting influences of the MoUP.) The hammer. I wanted to make a chunky, solid battlehammer, which I did. However, it's been brought up that perhaps his hammer is made from the new multi-stud-shooter. I have made a little prototype and have to say that I much favor my design without them. Also, those pieces should be trans-light-blue instead of trans-neon-green, but I used pieces that I have on hand. The gearbox. I thought for a long time as to how to connect it in a way that would fit with a Protector-sized being. After a few different designs I have settled on this design, which uses these to create a half-stud offset, the closest I can get to the body without colliding with the 5M shell.

Bionicle Protector Alternate Builds
TheDesuComplex replied to Rayskull's topic in LEGO Action Figures
One good idea for a temporary mask for Ekimu would be the Golden Skull Spider mask. It has similar proportions and color to the MoC, and you could even say that Ekimu is being controlled by the LoSS using it. -
I've been expecting his hammer to be made out of the trans-light-blue shooter pieces, but I think that mysteriouspi's idea would work good with a recolored shooter. I was wondering about the shooters; is there a compact way to brace the shooters with a pin so they don't just rotate and flop around?

The issue I have with this is that the depth of the hole will end up being half a module, which would be hard to work with. Not terribly infuriating, but still pretty suck. On bone colors, while it's understandable why they do it, I would like to see more sets with bone colors coordinated with the armor. On my sets I like to use the dark bley bones with lighter colors (like Dark Orange and Bright Green) versus using black with richer colors (like Red and Gold). Perhaps seeing bones of the same color as the armor to make them appear like slimmer (but still armored) sections would be an interesting choice.

Because when you are prototyping a part it is a good idea to cast them in a different color to differentiate them from the final product. That's why Pohatu's prototype 'Rangs were silver, and the prototype gatling gun was yellow- no plans to produce the part in that color.

Either no one else has gotten around to it because they have been reporting on other things, but it's far more likely that most who will share details about the show can give less of a care for Bionicle or might even actively despise it. Huw is a very trustworthy source though, because he runs what may be the biggest Lego fan site and he wouldn't intentionally lie about something. He's an example of an AFOL who doesn't particularly care for Bionicle but has the thought to let those who do like it info.

Based on the prices, all four of the singular warriors are the size of Gali, Pohatu, and Lewa while Skull Grinder is the size of Tahu or Kopaka as we have expected. I am still betting on a $35 USD price for Mask Maker and Skull Grinder- meaning $20 for Skull Grinder, $10 on Ekimu's base, and the last $5 for Ekimu's gearbox. The only thing I have changed is that I expected one or two of the singular warriors to be $10 sets, but I bet these will be pretty great sets. That cloth-like armor add-on sounds like it will be super cool looking. I am already expecting for it to cover the entire shell save for 'tears' in the 'fabric'- which would allow them to create some really interesting looks.

I am betting that they aren't on display because Lego doesn't want leaks so early again. :P Maybe this will have something to do with Europe's late release schedule.

It MIGHT be. It could be a red skull spider, a baby protector, a mask of time... Nothing has been confirmed and we will only know sometime when the March calendar comes out (sometime in the beginning of Febuary).
