  1. I think that this member is serious because a while back (on another Brickset article, probably about the return of Bionicle) he said the same thing. I've expunged that awful memory from my head for the most part though. This sort of hate is unnecessary and childish and makes me wish that, at the very least, inflammatory behavior in the article comments could be removed. Back on the topic of the figures, I am not too mad about Vader's prints. I think he looks better with them than without them, especially that control panel. I am wondering about the lightsaber pieces, how useful they will be in regular building. I was expecting them to be transparent axles.
  2. Judging by the comments on the Brickset announcement, it would be the best idea to keep discussion of the Star Wars constraction figures in the Action Figures forum, lest they drive us out with pitchforks and torches demanding our heads. I want to highlight this stupendous piece of negativity (I can't tell if this is serious or trolling): To repeat what I had said there earlier, it sucks how much people are hating on these; while it is pretty much a given based on how these are based on CCBS, I was not expecting backlash this extreme. I guess I had forgotten how entitled and snobbish some people can be. They look pretty darn good to me and will certainly be fun sets, and I will probably pick up one or two when I get the windfall.
  3. Everyone is freaking out about Luke... I actually quite like the way he looks and think that we could have had way worse. Not sure how well he will justify a $20 price tag though. Darth Vader also looks really good, especially in the pics just posted by Robert8. Not sure about his chest, which doesn't feel like it flows perfectly, but otherwise pretty awesome. I will probably put a couple of these on my list once I get done with Bionicle; mostly waiting on Boba and Grievous (who, based off these, just may fit the $35 price well).
  4. I would at least like to see two smaller characters (sub-$20) together in one pack. And sorry for the uncanon-ness of my suggestion, it was just a random idea thrown out. (I'm not TOO knowledgeable on Star Wars.) I'm mostly worried that a $35 Grevious would be too large to look good with other sets.
  5. I'm hoping that it will be a two-pack of two characters battling. Perhaps something like 'Mace Windu VS Darth Maul'. I doubt it will be a singular large figure like a CCBS Jabba or Grevious.
  6. My first reaction was a verbal 'hot dang'. He looks absolutely on point to the original Vezon while feeling like a beefier CCBS version. Amazing work.
  7. My idea is that the Golden Skull Spider is an extension of LoSS' own inherent control; like a remote control for the Skull Spider horde, if you will. Another idea I have had is that it allows LoSS to directly interface with the victim's mind and review their secrets, memories, etc. Only if they allow the user to shoot confetti at people.
  8. Love this guy! Love how you nailed the theme and made it very evocative of what it is trying to represent, while remaining within the restraints of the parts. It also quite simply looks amazing.
  9. They have 'Power Up Packs' where you order the Toa and corresponding Protector in one item on USA S@H at least, but they are at the exact same price as to get them individually. They might see a sale at some point, but I doubt it.
  10. Yup, I did the same thing to my Onua. Despite all the people saying that it works well, it just didn't look good to me in person. He looks far more unified with silver BIONICLE shells.
  11. Nope, for the forseeable future it is NYCC exclusive and that is not likely to change.
  12. You're more than welcome to! It's a wonderful technique and one that I wish Lego would use more often, because it makes it so easy to remove the attachments again instead of the pin sticking to the foot and having to rip it back out and stuff like that. By the way, I made an imgur album summarizing all of my sets with more high-res pictures. I am very happy with the Bionicle 2015 wave, and even happier that it's been so fun to make my own versions. Thanks to everyone who has given me positive feedback!
  13. One thing I am wondering about is, if we do end up getting a Pre-Corruption Makuta, how will his hammer be built? I am guessing that it will be this claw piece and this claw piece on this cam piece in place of the two trans-blue pieces Ekimu uses. It won't look that good when using the launcher because it doesn't have the same rotational symmetry, but still. Another thing I would like to point out is that in the animation models, Ekimu and Makuta appear to have black bones under their gold armor. The prevalent use of Trans-Blue on the Mask Maker was a very pleasant surprise, and it looks like it will absolutely shine on him. This makes me hope for some more trans-purple bones if-slash-when we get Makuta!
  14. My personal theory on the Summer story is the following:
  15. I think that my favorite part of these MOCs is that you are not discriminatory as to parts, and your mixing of the 'old' parts with the 'new' parts. It works far better than one would expect, and I love the bulky looks you have created.
  16. Here's BZP's news story on it where they link the British calendar. Here's the contents of the bag: Trans-Neon-Orange Mask of Fire Dark Blue Skull Spider Mask-themed Poster Mask-themed Stickers Toa biography pamphlet Okoto map As you can tell, it is mostly more story info pamphlets, which isn't a bad thing! Available February in most countries, and March in North America! Both of those have been noticed multiple times before, but that's not to your discredit! They're certainly interesting little details. Looking forward to what story implications these finds will have.
  17. Here's my final two Toa, Onua and Lewa. Both of these sets have little changed to them. On Lewa, I removed his Keetorange and lowered his gearbox a module. Both of these sets have little changed to them. On Onua, I gave him Dark Grey bones and removed his gold armoring. I also did even more changes to Pohatu: His right arm is now armored up, featuring a wrist-mounted dagger. I gave him new storage for his 'Rangs, which also gives him something very special... Wingarangs! This ends my Bionicle 2015 mods. Don't worry, I will have more to post soon!
  18. I find it funny how Ekimu is made almost entirely out of Warm-Gold and Trans-Light-Blue when those are two colors that seem to be used quite a bit in past constraction sets almost to the point of saturation, and how thanks to his importance to the story that the set containing him will more than likely be the best-selling set of this wave.
  19. Time for a few more thoughts on these sets. A random thoughts dump, if you will. Be warned, a fair amount of text:
  20. What you're saying is that Disney is pushing them to make these? Perhaps they might be doing this in light of Bionicle's return and asking Lego 'hey, make these award-winning toys but of Star Wars characters'.
  21. Beware my stinger tail! Thank you for all the pictures, Scarilian! These will do well.
  22. They are based off a rejected Cuusoo project that was archived early by Lego because they had licensing issues in getting them made, as Hasbro owns the license for all 'action figure' Star Wars merchandise. That was the main issue with getting these made before, and it is the main challenge Lego must have overcome if this news is true. The licensing issue is also the reason that the Hoth board game was never released in the US and Lego is no longer able to sell figure packs, because both conflicted with Hasbro's license.
  23. The mask is certainly a highlight of the set, and I'm sure it will be awesome when we get it in person. Also, we have gotten a dark grey wide-shouldered torso bone before but I am betting this one is a silver narrow-shouldered torso bone, which is brand new. Don't get me wrong, I am sure he is an awesome set, but he isn't 100% perfect.
  24. Have to say that I LOVE Basher's chest print, but I do not like the horns. I will probably reattatch them straight out to the sides. I am looking forward to the 'Bashing' function though! It looks like they used Trans-Clear for Ekimu's generic mask, but I am hoping that is just the lighting washing out the blue. The bones pieces also look quite fragile.
  25. Here's to hoping that the lightsabers will be long transparent axles, and the capes will be good quality.
