  1. Today I bought: 70785 Pohatu Master of Stone 70790 Lord of Skull Spiders Both are great sets, but if you are in the market for them you probably have them already.
  2. Thank you! By the way, your Protector mods and revamps are very awesome. Looking forward to your PoJ revamp to see how you integrated the gearbox, and I am planning on taking some ideas from your amazingly show-accurate mods to PoF.
  3. Guess who's back? Back again? 70779: The Protector of Stone Changes I have made include: A more chaingun-esque weapon (instead of what I have dubbed the 'Pepper Sprayer') A more streamlined chest design featured on most of my Protectors Swapped the trans bones for dark bley ones (out of personal preference) The picture below features PoS wielding some boomerangs that I have already scrapped. They didn't really work too well. 70781: The Protector of Earth Changes I have made include: Bigger feet and stockier legs featuring the rock armor Beefier, more regal shoulder pads featuring a fur texture A more staff-esque weapon with the head of a mace I really was looking to make PoE into a more beefy and chunky character, and I found his set a bit thin and lanky. My mods on the Protector of Jungle are still a WIP right now, sorry! Next time I will be posting some exceptions: A CCBS translation of 8989, and my total overhaul of 70790! Be there, or B2!
  4. I for one liked the Vorox set and I would like to see something like it. Of course there will be more silver, but still cool. By the way, Dark Tan is the color of the '5L Axle w/ Stop' that has been cropping up in many Bionicle 2015 sets. Yesterday I was able to grab Pohatu and LoSS. I can say a few things; that while I love Pohatu, his 'Rangs are just way too floppy for me on the joint. On LoSS I agree with an opinion already expressed here- he is a superb set by himself with a great look and fun function, but he didn't meet expectations placed on him and he suffers from being the only villain set in the wave.
  5. Did I say 70781? I meant this one! Set 70780: Protector of Water Since I used Trans-Light-Blue extensively on the PoI, I decided to use some Trans-Blue on PoW (which also matches the mask). I also made sure to move the propellers from the arms (which looked awful) and put them on a technic backpack. It's a shame that Gali is the only source of 5m Dark Azure shells. I've substituted in one in Regular Blue, which matches with the technic bits as well. As always, feel free to leave feedback and suggestions! Next up: 70779!
  6. I played through Pohatu's campaign and I can also say that, while it is a bit mindless, it is plenty of fun to bash Skull Spiders. LoSS also makes a good boss.
  7. I was about to say, I can't find it on my phone. Looking forward to it being released, looks like some neat fun.
  8. I have been searching for some way to attach PoF's blaster to his shoulder with more stability and poseability. Your solution is borderline ingenious.
  9. Don't worry, I have implemented that already. Set 70782: Protector of Ice My mods of this set include: Chest: White 5m Shell directly on the torso, no back armor (except to mount the shield) Arms: White Hands, Azure 5m Bones, and Trans-Light-Blue 3m Bones Legs: Azure 5m Bones, White 5m Shells, Black Small Feet Blaster: slightly simpler construction without the ice piece Saw-Shield: new mount that allows it to be easily removed, mounted on the back, and held The inclusion of Azure is my favorite thing about these mods. It works wonderfully with the Trans-Light-Blue and White. Originally I was going to make his blaster into a huge arm-mounted gun, but that doesn't fit that well with him. Next up: 70781!
  10. I finally got the pamphlet in with the club magazine and catalog (which features a two-page spread of Bionicle following Star Wars). The interesting thing that I found is that the Protectors are prototypes. The Stone Protector seems to have a far more greenish color that seems more like trans-bright-green then trans-neon-green (with his weapon has a mix between a yellowish color and said greener color) and a darker brown, maybe even the normal reddish brown. The Jungle Protector's mask also seems to contain trans-brown and the Earth Protectors dark-bluish-grey. The masks also seem like they are molded in the trans color and painted up to a certain point, not blended, but that is probably part of the CGI.
  11. Bionicle 2015 is just as awesome as I have hoped, and it is thanks to CCBS: a true godsend to me. I love to change around little bits on sets and refine them down from their stock form into something more fitting of my tastes. I have been asked to share my mods before, so I will here with periodic updates. I hope to inspire and encourage you to go beyond the stock. Just some quick things I would like to mention: I don't have a dedicated picture-taking setup, so please forgive me for the ghetto background. I am not trying to advertise BBTS, I just happen to have a few boxes from them. Please feel free to suggest ideas to me: I love experimentation! My 'old' Bionicle parts are in a sealed box. I will be using exclusively CCBS parts in my builds with some Technic. The first mod I will share with you is what I have done with the Protector of Fire. He is the first CCBS-based Bionicle set I have cracked open. Here's a rundown of my mods: On the legs: trans-orange 5m shells, red 3m bones. On the arms: red 5m bones with stop, black 3m bones, and black hands. Melee weapons: Simple Fireswords instead of those weird Fire Tonfa things. Blaster: Unsure about that, but switched it to Technic instead of a ball mount. The original set was already very good, so my mods are relatively few. Next up: the Protector of Ice!
  12. I doubt that we will have something deep and complex like MNOG, and I bet any games we get will be simpler games. I do believe that Lego will launch the Bionicle app soon, and when they do I believe it is likely that they will release the next episode and games.
  13. My Target has been extremely helpful at getting me the sets. The only issue is that the Target Inventory Checker does not seem to be working, because I went to two other Targets and they were missing all the stock they supposedly had. Today I was able to get Lewa and the Protectors of Jungle and Stone. They also let me know to check back after they overhaul the toy section on Friday. I am hoping to find a couple of sets at Toys R Us later, but I only have $35 left in the budget. On the Prophecy of Heroes, I was already leaning on the idea that Ekimu's tomb was lost in time. I believe that the Toa, once they find their gold masks and unite, will be able to tap some hidden power and awaken Ekimu and from there they will search for the Mask of Creation (which will depicted in Mask Maker Versus Skull Grinder).
  14. I got: 76017 Hydra Tank 70804 Ice Cream Machine Mixels (41509, 41518, 41524, 41525, 41526) and... $200 to buy all the Bionicle 2015 sets once they are released. So far I have already gotten a few thanks to Target: 70780 Protector of Water 70781 Protector of Earth 70782 Protector of Ice 70783 Protector of Fire 70787 Master of Fire 70788 Master of Ice and I'm hoping to get the rest shortly.
  15. I was just watching 'Prophecy of Heroes' for the umpteenth time when I listened closely to it's phrase, including this line: I am wondering if 'the Mask Maker' they are referring to is the same one that is in the summer set, and if so... I wonder why they are tasked with finding Ekimu if the Protectors know where he is? Perhaps his tomb was lost to the ravages of time and memory? My idea is that maybe the Mask Maker refers to the Maker of the Mask of Ultimate Power, and if it is saying they must find and defeat Makuta to end the skull invasion.
  16. I also wonder why Europe is having to wait, because one would think the European sets have already been produced for a long time (because the reviewers got them). Perhaps the production has been: Small run of parts for the NYCC event (late September, shipped out by October) Small run of European sets to send out to reviewers and work out the production kinks (late October, shipped out by mid November) Large run of American sets to send out to retailers to stock following the Christmas season (late November, shipped out by mid December) Large run of European sets to send out to European retailers to stock on Febuary 1st (late December, shipped out by mid January) Keep in mind that Lego can only produce as much as their factories can handle and they also need to produce other 2015 sets.
  17. I second this notion. This thing is so ambiguously explained that by now everyone has their deeply ingrained headcanon that they are stuck with. If you've made up your mind, you've made up your mind, and no amount of internet fights will get you to change it.
  18. I am hoping that the Protectors do receive some development. Even if they do not become fully fleshed out characters, I at least would like to see something like the Toa's quirks. Perhaps they can be walking along and the Ice Protector hits a tree limb because he has bad eyesight. The part in Episode 3 showing the Stone Protector tired and worn is another example of what I am talking about.
  19. I apologize if my last post seemed a bit too ranty or rambly. I was just giving my opinion on this whole discussion that has resurfaced a bajillion times. Thanks for posting that concept art Dorek! I noticed that this piece looks a lot like part of the Tahu animation.
  20. I summarized my opinion on the whole debate about the role of time, the vahi, continuation/reboot on /r/bioniclelego the other day when someone asked where Takanuva is: I can also apply that idea to concepts and objects. I am going to assume no connection through some convoluted time shenanigans unless proven true. All I know is that there is a Temple of Time, the Protectors used it to summon the Masters, and the summoning process involved a Mask of Time according to this pamphlet. I am not going to come up with some wild theory about how Voporak got transported back in time with the broken Vahi and founded Okotan culture on the concept of time or something like that. It's a reboot, and for now I would like it to stay that way with no connection to the old other then homage.
  21. This pamplet does confirm that the purple mineral seen all over the Earth Region is obsidian. Here's to hoping that Onua doesn't get lit on fire... I also believe that the Skull Spiders hail from the 'unexplored swamps' of the Water Region. (I am also thinking of the amphibious spiders seen in Gali's animation.)
  22. That's so sane that it just might work. So earlier I was finally able to head up to Target and grab one of every set I saw, and I can officially say that they are amazing sets and worth every penny. I also figured out that the best way to turn the head without ripping the mask off (as I would otherwise be prone to doing) is by gripping the two sides of the mask while pulling upwards on the black of the brainstalk. I also have an issue with the fact that Tahu can't look down, but oh well. I've already started implementing my mods on them. On the rumored set names, they all sound like they will end up being generic troop builders to me and I am hoping that be get a variety of beasts instead of humanoids (which the statues in the Pohatu video seem to be disproving).
  23. I actually think that this is a GREAT idea and I hope that the story heads in this direction.
  24. That's actually kinda ironic for a guy named 'Rayskull'. :P I am personally hoping for it because we haven't seen the Skull Spiders, as I mentioned, used as primary masks. It would be interesting if the villain sets in-story were animal or warrior species (think the Vorox) who are taken over by the Skull Spiders and the Toa are suppossed to free them from their control.
  25. A skull spider would actually look quite good as the normal mask for a villain. Many MOCs have already popped up using it in fantastic ways. I am sure they could make an amazing Makuta set using current CCBS. I am, however, now in the camp of not seeing Makuta until the climax. After my idea for a two-pack got partially shot down I thought on it, and it really would be more interesting to get Makuta later on down the line.
