The best sets following these two are the Protector and Master of Ice. Both of them are solid sets with great looks, nice weapons, and awesome unity. Then, in order, I would recommend: Water Earth Jungle Fire
-
Looking at this group shot, I have a feeling that it is just the lighting in some shots and the Stone masks are still using trans-neon-green. (BTW, the color used by the Jungle Masks are bright-green and trans-bright-green, although it is referred to as 'Apple Green' because for the longest time that was the only part that used it.)

Which could perhaps work towards the 'Makuta will turn good ala Garmadon' theory. That was, yknow, after it was used that its power started to destroy. I am betting that Makuta didn't expect the results that he got (especially since he would have never used it if he knew it would have taken him over). Going again with the nuke analogy presented by Kalhiki, the scientists on the Manhattan Project knew that the bomb would be very powerful, but I doubt that thy knew the magnitude of destruction it caused. I think it is pretty likely that Makuta thought he would be able to use the mask like any other, perhaps standing atop a pillar ala the Avatar opening, throwing around all kinds of elements and wowing the Protectors.

Those certainly aren't EXACT COPIES of the sets, which will more likely than not still hold some pleasant surprises like LoSS. They're just guesswork based on what little we have heard of them so far, and while a lot of them are purported to be humanoid that does not mean much to whether or not they have the opportunity to innovate.

I was finally able to find Gali today. They had every set save her sitting on the shelf at Target, and I found an endcap full of her and Minecraft sets on my way out. She's wonderful and very feminine while still keeping a heroic, battle-ready look and she works so well just like the rest of her team. This means that I have completed my 2015H1 collection, which is awesome. I still find it hard to believe that, sitting before me, are new Bionicle sets.

Here's my mod of Kopaka. The few mods I've done include: Removal of trans blue bones to make him feel more solid Dark Grey bones and Light grey weapon technic bits Entirely revamped shield attachment and pins w/ stud on his shield halves

Now that I think about it, that would be an awesome thing to have; especially since (as you said) Makuta isn't truly evil. His redemption could be a good lesson to teach to the kiddies. Here's to hoping that Ekimu doesn't suddenly go evil afterwards, though.

I've noticed quite an overlap between Bionicle fans and Transformers fans and I've seen it brought up time and time again in this topic, which isn't a good place to vent your frustrations about a whole 'nother toyline from a completely different company.

I bet it will involve Tahu going super-saiyan power-up with his golden mask and blowing away all the skull spiders. Maybe there will be a montage of the other Toa doing the same.

Is it just the lighting, or do the Stone masks you got have trans-yellow instead of trans-neon-green?
-
That's what I am doing with my Onua (because he has so little), but not so with Tahu (because red and gold go well together) or Kopaka (where the gold reminds me of a fur coat, specifically red fox). I am also thinking of changing Pohatu to use gold, which I have seen a couple of people do. My only issue is that, I never thought I would say this after Brain Attack, but I am running out of gold armor...

It looks like gloves: I like the look and did the same thing with Tahu. They're the only ones who are getting it for now, though.

Rest in peace all those green Skull Spiders. Also, we know that the Elemental Blasters can run out of ammo, and Tahu is always very hammy which isn't a bad thing. I found it cute how the PoF rode on Tahu's back and he dropped him over the ledge. "I CAN... FEEL.... THA.... POOOOWAAAAH!"

Anyone Else Unable to Moc?
TheDesuComplex replied to LegendaryArticuno's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I am in the US, and one way I have bulked up my CCBS collection is scouting out discount stores such as TJ Maxx and Ross. I have pretty often found some small Hero Factory figures, such as Aquagon and Nex, available for lower-than-retail prices. It would also be worth checking the seasonal clearance sections- my Target still has a handful of Evo XL Machines for $21. -
I am going to say outright that I wish we had gotten more Toa of different elements in set form. So many cropped up in the story, but having more elements floating around could have been a nice opportunity for kids to create powers and abilities, and perhaps critically think: 'In what ways could this element be weaponized?'. My hope for G2 is that the six Toa we know now remain the solitary Toa of their element and new Toa are introduced like, say, 'Lhikan: Master of Technology' and 'Nidhiki: Master of Lightning'.

Truly amazing MOCs! I adore the way that you use the Protector and Skull Spider masks as layered armor. I hope that Lego will be displaying these proudly. These would be great as display models for the 'Build a Bionicle' exhibit at Legoland supposedly replacing the Hero Factory one in the spring, but I looked and it seems that is only at the California and Florida locations.

Thanks! He's turning out to be my favorite, also. Medium Azure works quite well as an icy color and it matches EXTREMELY well with Trans-Light-Blue. 70785: Pohatu, the Master of Stone. My only mods to Pohatu are: Dark-Bluish-Gray bones: They go so well with Dark-Orange and Silver-Metallic. Removal of Trans-Neon-Green: It makes him way less bright, but I tried it and didn't care for it. Lengthened shin by 1 module: It's not much, but it helps make him less scrawny-looking. Y-Joints on empty balls: Kinda fiddly with the Brain Attack torso, but it still works. I also have a few mods to Tahu I forgot to mention: I changed his shins a bit more. The Breakout torsos look a bit better on him and allows for a bit more poseability out of his ankle. I also created a mount to store his lavaboard on his back.. Also, I keep forgetting to make the mini-bios that I was planning on! They're a bit fun and silly, and add a bit of personality and backstory. (I have forgotten what that bit of gear is called- when someone reminds me I will edit that bit!)

Yup, I think we should have a thread discussing the G1 story of Bionicle and I am surprised that we don't already have one.

[REVIEW]: 70785 Pohatu Master of Stone
TheDesuComplex replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
That's what I did with mine, although I used dark grey bones. I think those bones work far better with brighter colors (like Dark Orange, White, etc.). -
Perhaps the Great Beings wanted the Matoran to live full lives with many experiences so that, if all life on Spherus Magna died in the shattering, they could repopulate it along with any other races Mata Nui created; which is what happened in the end anyway. Also, the Matoran Universe would be far less convincing as a place to live if it looking entirely like the insides of a robot (like as portrayed in the beginning of The Legend Reborn).

Yup! I am still working on getting Gali and Onua, and I am already writing up a list of duplicate sets to get for parts after them... (So far it includes Lewa, the PoF, and LoSS)

Thanks for the comments! For what was essentially a tablescrap, he went together well. Here's my mods on 70787: Tahu, Master of FIRE. There's not much again, but what refinements he has do help. The red y-joint is another technique, like the pin w/ stud, that works really well. It helps to fill out the empty balljoint on his chest. A bit boxy, but it is out of the way and looks good.

Yup, this is totally what I am expecting the build to be like! That's why I said three years. Speeda Demon, Jet Rocka, and Queen Beast have sold pretty comfortably well at their $35 price point and I imagine Lego will keep it there for the foreseeable future. The Drop Ship... Well, I don't think for certain but I bet that it sold badly enough to scare Lego from higher price-points.

$35 seems to be the upwards price for Constraction. That has been the price of the biggest set for three years now, and it is likely going to be the biggest we see for a while.
