According to the books, he's done with Dale. Who knows what PJ has up his sleeves. It seems like Thranduil, Legolas and Tauriel will all be present for Smaug's death. Lots of changes from the book means lots of unexpected possibilities for LEGO sets.

It seems to me that people are worried that this set indicates there will be no Smaug this wave. But this set depicts Laketown, not the Italian looking city from the AUJ prologue. That is a much larger, more land-locked city, and could possibly be the stage for the Smaug fight scene. EDIT: Dale is that city, and if I remember correctly, in the most recent video blog, Evangeline Lily was talking about being in the ruins of Dale, and having seen the set when it was full and beautiful. SECOND EDIT: There is a random raffle thing happening on MTV Geek"s Twitter page to win the Laketown set! http://geek-news.mtv.com/2013/07/19/sdcc-2013-win-a-lego-hobbit-desolation-of-smaug-playset/

They will not cheap out and repackage the preview sets. LEGO wouldn't commit such a disservice to their loyal fans.

In a wave of six sets, this will be the equivalent to the Barrels set, I think.

Take a look at this pic of Bard: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130612045813/lotr/images/8/89/Desolation_-_Bard_the_Bowman.jpg Sure, Thorin hair would've allowed for a quiver, but overall its too long. Qui-Gon hair is much more suited to the length and style of Bard's hair.

Oh my goodness! Not exactly what I expected, but I love it! Looks like a reasonably sized set with four new figs (Thorin has a new print!). Using Qui-Gon hair for Bard makes so much sense, and the Master of Laketown looks great! I just hope this isn't all we get shown at SDCC. And the shield with the fish on it! Forget that, the boat is just two rowboats cleverly attached. Actually, thats a brilliant concept. Well done LEGO.

We should soon see a list surface somewhere. I'm really glad that Azog didn't just get the Misty Mountain goblin headpiece. The brand new mould gives his head the shape it needs, and the height the fig needs. Just took a look at the images of the Spider-Woman fig from SDCC, and she is in packaging identically shaped to Azog's. Lets hope that isn't a bad sign and is just the way LEGO is packaging figs this year.

This exclusive is no different that the Bilbo one from last year, only its generally a way better fig.

I'm gonna be honest and say HOLY HOBBITS AZOG IS AWESOME! Sure, he looks a little wonky, but I thnk if we got some out-of-box views, opinions could change. The legs look like they could be new, but I think they are normal legs. And his claw hand looks strange. Almost looks too long. But the one thing that's really getting to me: what the heck is up with his weapon? It looks like a 1x2 plate somehow connected to that stick and cone. Looks nothing like his mace from the film. Hopefully it's just the angle of the picture. Otherwise, he has a brick built shovel as a weapon.

Just realized Tarfuul is holding a pirate rifle. Actually makes a lot of sense.

The Legend of Zelda Project finally reaches 10,000 supporters
Fives replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've been keeping an eye on the Iron Knuckle project for a while. I've never been a huge Zelda fan, but I would definitely buy that set if it were made into a set. -
deskp, love the 'sketch', looks great. Only change I'd make is get rid of the guard and make him another armored soldier. And perhaps Tauriel could be in a smaller 'Ambush in Mirkwood' set with some elves and orcs fighting on those ruins shown in the trailer. I've always wanted a set based on random, overgrown ruins.

Oh, I forgot about those pictures. Yeah, the set should be that entrance, with the trone room in the back.

It all depends on how PJ envisions the fortress. From what I can tell, the majority of the palace is more underground, almost like a mix of Lorien and Erebor. I think we'll see Thranduil's throne with the big antlers. But I truly have no idea what to expect.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Fives replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think movie 5 will be about Jack and Gibbs trying to release the Pearl from the bottle, and Barbossa, having Blackbeard's sword, is the only person with the power to do so. I really doubt we'll ever see any more sets from the first 3 films. -
That new Wookiee mold is what I've been wanting for a long time! This means Chewie will get a comp, tee redesign, which has been necessary for the past couple years. Also, ROTS Gree looks pretty cool. Otherwise, the set is pretty boring. It would have been better if it were a treehouse or a catamaran. Oh well.

That's what I expect. If the final battle at Laketown with Smaug is gonna be as big and intense as PJ says, LEGO is gonna need to put everything they can into a set for that scene. The reason I think Thranduil's Halls is the set we'll see is 1. We've had lots of teasers of those particular scenes from the film, more than most other scenes, 2. The scenes from Mirkwood are very well known by all fans of The Hobbit, so revealing a set based on those scenes may increase sales for the sets. Fans who don't regularly buy LEGO will see it and say 'Hey, that looks pretty flippin cool! I'll get that for Xmas!' It happened with Bag End, which was listed as one of the most popular Christmas toys of 2012. LEGO won't pass up a chance to reveal something that will be popular to a wide audience, and Comic-Con gives them that opportunity.

They will show at least the second biggest set. We could possibly get the fig lineup early, and then they'll show the full set on... Sunday is it? Last year they showed Bag End, the second biggest set. And the Star Wars set revealed looks pretty substantial in size. I'm assuming that we'll see something to do with the elves, since we've seen he most of them in teasers and trailers so far. That way, there won't be many spoilers.

I would LOVE sets based on the Inheritance Cycle. Farthen Dur would make a really great set, and who doesn't want Saphira, Thorn, Glaedr, Firnen and Shruikan as LEGO!

Dooku. A lightsaber. Seriously, even though Saruman has magic, Dooku could just leap over him, Force lightning him, and BAM decapitation!
-
Why are you worried he won't be made? He's a major part of the story! Way more important that Yazneg was in AUJ, and we got him!

They could pull off a troll set if it were done as an exclusive for the Hobbit, like Orthanc is for LOTR. Some trees, the fire, and the cave is the gulf, and then give us Bilbo and a few dwarves.

Expecting the DOS wave to be the same size as the second LOTR wave is a bit weird. The reason we only got four normal sets was because of Orthanc. Had we not gotten a big exclusive, the LOTR wave could've had two more sets. So, since the likelihood of a big exclusive is very slim, the DOS wave should be at least 6 sets, but it could be more to help cover all the material that will be showcased in the film. Unless they do a fourth Hobbit wave to make up for scenes they missed from all three films (c'mon LEGO, gives us Roast Mutton!)

I don't think PJ has changed it for the worse, though. The changes he's made, while many, have made sense in regards to pacing of the story, development of characters, and links between these films and LOTR. Also, LEGO wouldn't repackage old sets and just say 'Here ya go, you already got these, but they are part of this movie, so ya...', they're more loyal to their fans. And they won't do more preview sets. That was likely a special deal made between WB and LEGO due to the sudden change of plans, but this time around, I doubt that WB will want anything else spoiled before TABA is released. And when it comes to material that LEGO could realistically release as preview sets without spoiling anything new that PJ will have added would be from the Battle of Five Armies, and they wouldn't do that because its the big climatic fight at the end.

The second film is called THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG! This refers directly to his attack on Laketown. The film will end with Smaug getting killed. And it's been over a year (at least its felt like it) since PJ announced the trilogy, so LEGO, if they were smart in reacting, should have made quick arrangements for new sets.
