  1. This page has lots of images from the special online event from March. Has some good pics of the Master, Thranduil and some other stuff. http://www.filmbuffonline.com/FBOLNewsreel/wordpress/2013/03/24/a-look-at-peter-jacksons-online-sneak-peek-of-the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug/
  2. LEGO has never and will never do a $1000 set. I mean, the did the Death Star quite well for only $675. Minas Tirith will be done, but not to the standards of the greatest MOCers out there. It will be a similar size to Helm's Deep.
  3. I took at look at the better quality pics FBTB have. It really is quite a bland build, but I think the figs more than make up for it. And so what if you're unsatisfied with what LEGO gives you, build upon it yourself! Makes the interiors less boring! Also, deskp, you're white Azog look AMAZING! White (or even light bley) is far more suited for Azog. And I think that from the sounds of the email, Azog will be recoloured in the new sets. Just the way he says it makes it seem like he's saying yes, but without explicitly saying yes, much like the woman in the MTV vid when asked about Smaug.
  4. A white Azog, if true, is worth the wait. Even if the colour is the only change they make, its a change that will make the fig look epic! They better make his tribal scars dark red.
  5. Strange. But that did happen with another link for a LEGO Movie pic from the same site, so it's not the links.
  6. Some close up pics from the MTV vid of the figs http://www.lordofthebrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/lego-the-hobbit-lake-town-chase-1.jpg http://www.lordofthebrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/lego-the-hobbit-lake-town-chase-4.jpg The Master is becoming one of my favourite Middle-Earth figs. So great!
  7. Well, we did see some behind the sevens stuff with the Master and Alfrid in the Master's bedroom/office, so that's my guess. Also, does anyone else feel like the helmet of the guard kinda looks like a fish tail at the top?
  8. Of the bigger Laketown building? I'm assuming the Master's office. The lower part has a jail cell for Bard (I'm guessing), while the other building is just kinda there.
  9. Just found this listing for the fig on eBay. It may be the same one as before, but the picture is different. Better lighting and more in focus. If you zoom in, you can see how the front lower section of the headpiece is meant to represent his pecs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/sdcc-2013-ULTRA-RARE-sealed-LEGO-minifigure-HOBBIT-in-hand-AZOG-vhtf-promo-/121146782411?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item1c34e932cb Still $1000...
  10. I really wish that someone would take some pics of Azog out-of-box and standing alongside other figs, and maybe his Warg. I think it would really be helpful for a lot of us to see the fig standing with some others, so we get a real sense of his height and how awkward the new head may look next to classic figs.
  11. Bag End, by far, the best Hobbit set, and honestly just a fantastic set in general. The thing with this year, though, is that anything really iconic, we haven't seen before. Bag End was in LOTR, so no spoilers there. But everything in DOS is new, so it seems like they went with a smaller set to help build up anticipation for a Smaug set, which seems to have been hinted at in that MTV video. Also, Erebor should be saved for the BO5A. That way, LEGO can spend the money on making the mountain big and having the amount of figs necessary for the scene without having to worry about a dragon taking up space.
  12. Haha, very good! On the one hand, I absolutely love this fig, and he's gone up to the top of my fave figs list along with the Mouth and Gandalf the White. But I do see where the flaws are, and where LEGO could've done better. They had two better choices: 1. Make the torso/head/arms all special, like Dogpound from TMNT. That could've looked amazing,,and given Azog that bigger, more muscular look he needs. 2. Make the upper part of his loincloth armour thing that's printed part of the head piece, so it covers all the torso like Chewie or Krell. I think the awkward bosom the piece gives him makes him look weird.
  13. Oh yeah, forgot about Radagast. And I guess the Laketown set counts, there is a big barrel in the boat, so yeah.
  14. 2 sets? I can only think of one set about the barrels. What if LEGO decided to not have the standard $10-$15 set with two figs, and instead made more big sets? To me, there are no scenes in the story of this film that would make sense for only two figs. Every scene that lends itself well as a set would have at least three or four figs, and I keep forgetting about the Necromancer scenes, which will need at least one decent sized set. My predictions: Battle of Esgaroth - Smaug's attack on Laketown. Even though we already have one Laketown set, this could be a more substantial part of the city. Includes Bard, possibly some of the dwarves, maybe Bain, and Smaug as a large molded creature. $150-$180 Fortress of Dol Guldur - the White Council's attack on the old fortress. Includes Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman and the Necromancer. Perhaps some more spiders depending on what happens in the film. I suspect a set based on this would have lots of functions for magic abilities and stuff. $100-$120 Ambush in the Forest - Entrance to Thranduil's halls, depicts the scene where Azog and his orcs attack the elves and dwarves. Inside has Thranduil's throne room and a small interrogation area for Narzug. Includes Thranduil, Tauriel, Azog, Narzug, and two elf guards. $75 Laketown Chase - official set $50 Beorn's House - obvious, it's Beorn's house. Includes Beorn (both man and bear forms), Bilbo, and a few of the dwarves. $35-$40 And there you go, five sets that easily cover all the major sequences and characters of the new film. Sure, we wouldn't get all the dwarves, but I wouldn't expect that. And the reason I didn't include Legolas is because we already got him. Tauriel does need new hair, however.
  15. Yeah, it's just the moonlight scenes that made him look white in AUJ. During the Battle of Azanulbizar, he wasn't white. It does seem funny, though, how Gollum, the GG and Azog have all been giving the tan skin treatment.
  16. Bard the Bowman, the Master of Laketown, and a Laketown guard.
  17. Yeah, I've already seen that. Hopefully some other people start selling theirs and for more reasonable prices. I'm only likely willing to pay about $100 at most for the fig.
  18. Also, we've seen a lot of them filming Bard running through Laketown as if being chased. That's likely the basis for the set. When did we see our first prelims of pics of last years wave? Wasn't it September-October? EDIT: $1000 for Azog! Holy crap! That seems like a bit much. My bet is its being sold by someone who isn't a LEGO fan (since the figs were being handed out at random, and not at the LEGO booth), so he hopes to get a ridiculous amount of money for it. The most I'd likely pay right now would be maybe $100.
  19. He likely won't show up at least for a few days, if not more. If I could, I'd love to find him somewhere in Canada, as that's where I live.
  20. Does anyone else think that LEGO really missed a great chance when it comes to the name of these Middle-Earth sets? I think the could have easily just used the names of the chapters from the books, i.e. Riddles in the Dark, Flies and Spiders, Out of the Frying pan Into the Fire. I really think it would have been clever if LEGO had done that.
  21. Doubt we'd get two sets with Bilbo and Thorin. Also, combine the Smaug and Dale sets to create an action sequence, and make Thranduil's Palace a bigger set. That's leave space for a Beorn set.
  22. Perhaps. And that would make the fig look less awkward.
  23. May be a bit soon, but I'm already on the hunt for the new Azog fig from SDCC. I think I'm likely not the only one who will be willing to dish out the cash for this fig, so any news of it pooping up for sale should be put here. Just can't wait to get this fig!
  24. 5 sets is brilliant news, and could still mean a possible exclusive. And LEGO won't change their Azog mold. If they made this fig for SDCC, then this is their official fig. Such a big new minifig piece is too expensive not to make in large quantities. It just wouldn't be a good business move for LEGO.
  25. So we saw a sneak peak at footage after BO5A? I seriously doubt PJ would've let that slip past.
