LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
jjr_2009 replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
Interesting. I'm having a hard time thinking what hairpiece would suit the character better. Maybe the piece used for Wonder Woman in the Batman Vs. Superman set? Or--based on the Dimensions Harry minifigure--maybe a commonly used hairpiece that doesn't bear much resemblance to Hermione's hair in the films.- 527 replies

LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion

Do we have any idea what Hermione will look like? I'm wondering if she'll be a rehash of the 2010 figure (which is a very nice figure, BTW) or if there will be any major updates (like Harry's hair).- 527 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
jjr_2009 replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So far the only place I have found in my area that has had the figures is Wal-Mart (and by the time I got there they were all gone). I got the Penguin Kid at a LEGO store a couple of hours away, and I got the Mariachi Guy and the Wildlife Photographer by asking my local Target to pull me a couple of bags from the back (I didn't want to push my luck by asking them to bring out the whole box). One of the workers at Target told me they had a street date of 9/1, and a worker at TRU said he had no idea when they would be coming in, but that he was hoping it would be soon. Fortunately, I'm not a completionist, so I'm not too worried at this point. However, I will definitely be stopping by Target first-thing in the morning 9/1. :) EDIT: For some context, I live in the Wilmington, NC area. -
I haven't seen this one brought up too much, but I'm by far most excited for E.T.! I love the design of the minifigure and his "Phone Home" build is clever and fun! I'm also curious what his hub world will be like, since the film doesn't cover a whole lot of locations. I also like the fact that we're getting a new color of the CMF Trendsetter's hair; although since it's a TRU exclusive, it will probably be pretty pricey on BrickLink (I've never seen Adventure Time, so there's not a whole lot of motivation to buy the whole pack). I'll probably just BrickLink Voldemort or Harry's base as well, since I already have the figures from 2010.

Here's my guess list/wish list for Series 17: 1. Basketball Player (with basketball and new water bottle element). 2. Policewoman (with walkie-talkie and new hat/hair mold) 3. Day of the Dead Reveller (bringing back that old trumpet mold from the Old West theme) 4. Classical Musician (with a new violin piece) 5. Islander Woman (with a spear) 6. Pizza Guy (a guy dressed up as a giant slice of pizza) 7. Alien Diplomat (very funky and colourful with a new head mold and some sort of staff) 8. Personal Trainer (female with new mini arm weights) 9. Poodle Skirt Girl (using Alice and Minnie's skirt piece and recolouring the Diner waitress's hair in black) 10. Lion Suit Guy (looking very nervous) 11. Old-Time Barber (very "classic" looking with scissors) 13. Park Ranger (with a squirrel) 14. Medieval Blacksmith (with a hammer) 15. Fairytale Prince (very colourful with a sword) 16. Explorer (female with journal and a new toucan element)

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
jjr_2009 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know, right?! The Penguin has always been my favourite of Batman's enemies--I have no idea why! I'm really curious how many of those 20 CMFs will be batsuits . . . -
Back on topic, I'm glad that (if these rumours are true) TLG still seems committed to making sets based on the Original Trilogy. I would love to see more (and better) location-based sets too, but that seems more doubtful. Like many, I would be very happy to see a new Lando Calrissian minifigure, but I would be a tad disappointed if he's not wearing his Cloud City garb--it's such an iconic costume!

There was a rumour about a potential sports theme for next year--not sure how much was true and how much was just speculation. Also, I have been waiting for a Lego zoo since I was a child. I would pay good money for one if they did it right.

I'm really hoping TLG revisits franchises they have already started in addition to introducing all of these fantastic new ones. I mean, not producing a Lego Dorothy is a missed opportunity if I ever saw one.- 527 replies

Least Accurate Licensed Character Representations
jjr_2009 replied to BaneShake's topic in LEGO Licensed
No, I think that's intentional on Disney's part. The Disney Princesses line has very little to do with the princesses' individual stories; it's more about selling the princess lifestyle to little girls--the dresses, the tiaras, the accessories (all conveniently licensed by Disney). But I agree: the Disney Princess minidolls don't really resemble the princesses very well. Merida is the furthest off in my opinion. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

I'm really liking the updated Penguin minifigure! Here's to hoping he's in a relatively cheap set! -
I live in a coastal town, so I love that idea! I don't think new molds are a necessity--new prints and new recolours are though. I would just be happy to see the line continue to feature parts of city life that don't involve fires or crime. :)

What about the piece introduced with the CMF S16 Dog Show Winner in dark brown? That might work . . . I'm really looking forward to seeing updates for so many OT characters with this new Death Star--I hope it doesn't disappoint in that respect.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
jjr_2009 replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
7133 Bounty Hunter Pursuit has always been my favourite SW set that I own, which is kind or ironic since its from my least favourite SW film. Both ships are fun, interesting builds that still look great and it's still the only set that features Zam Wessell. I can't understand why TLG hasn't revisited it. My least favourite set would have to be the new USC Hoth set--I do not own it, by the way. It does very little to evoke the setting on which it's based and has a very disappointing minifigure lineup. Also, I happen to love the old podracer bucket. It's a bucket--not a set--and existed as a fun way for kids to create and race their own podracers. I wish TLG would produce more licensed products that encourage imagination and originality like that one did. -
Yeah, I think that is the most accurate hair piece that currently exists, but a new mold would be nice! And back to the Death Star, I think it would be awesome (but unlikely) for TLG to include a hidden hot tub as a fun reference to the video games!

Least Accurate Licensed Character Representations

A lot of the early Star Wars minifigures were a little rough, but this one takes the cake: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/2/2c/Generic_alien_7159.png/revision/latest?cb=20140126004933 -

I have not bought the set yet due to budgetary reasons, but I plan to soon. Could anyone else see TLG revisiting this concept in the near future? I for one would love to see a winter-themed minifigure set!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
jjr_2009 replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Can't wait to get my hands on some of these--I haven't been able to find them in my area yet. I know my daughter is going to love the new dog that comes with the Dog Show Winner! For me personally, I love the hiker--a great design for such a simple concept. -
Even though there is no way I could ever buy it, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Death Star--it's just so iconic and I feel like set designs have progressed so much since the last one came out--not to mention minifigure designs. Speaking of which, does anyone think Han will have a different hair piece in this set? It's so strange that they are still using the "classic" male minifig hair for him.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
jjr_2009 replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Was anyone else able to find S14 last August? I'm really hoping these will be available early as well. I still can't decide which one is my favourite--possibly the hiker? -
I don't typically buy a lot of SW sets because of the prices, but does anyone else feel that Princess Leia has really been underserved by TLG? I understand that by now there are many different variations of her like there are for other characters, but she never seems to be available in more than one set in a wave, or in a set under $30. This is a huge bummer for me as a father to two little girls. I'd really like to see TLG do more with the character in the future--she's such an awesome character! Do other people feel the same way? Am I forgetting about any sets that would disprove this?

Every time I see pictures of the Oz characters in Dimensions I get a little wistful. I think TLG could hit it out of the park with one exclusive set--there was an excellent one on Ideas a couple of years ago.

How could I forget this movie?!?!? Yes, the world NEEDS a Kuzco minifigure!

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
jjr_2009 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the set looks great! No matter how the movie turns out, this looks so much better than a lot of TLG's more recent licensed output IMO. And for the record, I think it's ridiculous to judge a film on its trailers--I could see this being horrible or fantastic. Either way, it's a very nice set and I'm intrigued about this whole Chinese restaurant thing.
