Hi everyone, while one can accept the 10260 diner as an older building that had the Streamline Moderne diner and "jukebox" design added later (or as an architectural choice in the first place), I thought I'd modify my set to give the tan part a streamlined look, too. And I later added another floor, featuring the "ninja shop" from 70620 Ninjago Ciry with its rounded shop window, though with completely white edges. (And I built it mirrored since I'll place it at the right end of a row of houses.) In its original height, different angle: And with extra floor: There were some nasty half-plate-height distances to deal with... with the original set's upper floor being 9 snotted studs tall at the facade, half a plate taller than the wall behind it. Back side is kept simple: Shop interior, taken from Ninjago City and added a couple of ninjas: ยป Flickr album By the way, I've kept the original walls with their nice window techniques in storage to use later on another building. Hope you like it...

I'm considering to make the tan part more streamlined with a rounded corner and without the arches and fences. And maybe add another floor where Iโll try how the round corner shop section of Ninjago City will look at the top - though probably not with its original blue walls and floor. (And Iโll build it mirrored since I'll put it at the right end of a row of houses.)

Interesting find! Hopefully this will appear in many colors soon. NathanR, there are 45ยฐ wedge plates (3x3, 4x4, 6x6 with smaller cut), so while it won't match the size exactly, it still matches the angle. And the black one anothergol is referring to is left of the 2x2 wedge plate, covered with many small logos.

An amazing building indeed! Lots of nice architecture and details, including the interior. Though I also think the proportions are a bit unusual, one would rather expect 3 tan and 1 white floor, but it still looks great the way you built it, I think.

Well, both were discounted during the Brick Friday weekend by 20% (at least in Europe). :) The latter is also available at TRU Germany with currently -16%. So I wouldn't be too surprised if the MF became available later next year at TRU (assuming they still exist then...), or slightly discounted on Brick Friday or May The 4th in 2019 or so...

Apparently there was an e-mail notification saying it won't ship before christmas but you'll still get the SW VIP card. (Didn't get the mail myself because I ordered mine last week and received it on Friday.)
-
I never used the wishlist but got the registration mail, too. I guessed it was sent to every VIP who is also registered to accept VIP/S@H newsletters. Anyway, thanks to this mail, I ordered one after all - having changed my mind since I had thought I don't really need it...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cimddwc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
A brutalist concrete building briefly crossed my mind, too, but I think that would be too gray and generally not as appealing to a wider audience. Maybe less brutalist, more fine lines, but still rather rectangular features? -

Seems one of the blogs was an hour early, ended up in my feedreader, but hid the post again. Well, what's another 36 minute wait. :) Lovely interior of the diner, nice colors with turquoise/white walls and a pink stripe... -
Again, thanke everyone! I left gaps where I put the partial minifigs. So no easy way to place them elsewhere, as if they were swimming. No. Well, it's got to be a 5-digit number. :)

Thanks again, everyone! I don't think they'd ever turn something with a piece count of several Millennium Falcons into an Ideas set. :)

Thanks, everyone! The yellow+tan+white color combo looks also great in real life in Montreux. :) And by the way, when I was there and took a photo of the Montreux Palace some years ago, there was one awning stuck on one side like in my MOC. No-one repairing it at that moment, though. Regarding BB2019: It's likely (though not certain yet) that we'll move to the even years, so that would be BB2018 already.

Hi everyone, I've been building this hotel off and on over the past couple of years - most of the interior is still not built, but it was ready for display last weekend on Bricking Bavaria 2017: Hotel lakeside 5 (BB2017) by cimddwc, on Flickr Covering 5x2ยฝ baseplates (including pavement and lake), featuring a total of 80 beds in 12 suites, 24 rooms and a group section, plus dining hall (presented earlier here), bar, two conference rooms, sun terrace, pool, gym, sauna, massage, lake access with a small beach and jet skis. Hotel streetside 2 (BB2017) by cimddwc, on Flickr Inspired mostly by the belle รฉpoque hotels in Montreux on the Lage Geneva shoreline, and others. In detail: General architecture: Montreux Palace, Suisse Majestic, Eden Palace Au Lac. Main colors: Montreux Palace, Suisse Majestic. Level of decoration: Montreux Palace. Raised ground floor: Eden. Corner turret: Eden. Main entrance: The Langham (London). Dining hall: Salle Empire (Hรดtel de Paris, Monaco). Further ideas and comments welcome, of course. Hope you like it. :)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cimddwc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think the tiles are mounted on a plate. Looking at the brown plates at the recessed area, the front part is too thick for just tiles. Also it matches the only slight protrusion of the arches above the windows. Could it be Cool Yellow, like someone said? Maybe, I think... but the sides of AS look a bit too yellow, too, so it's hard to tell from this image. -

There are small creases throughout the entire sky. I donโt see a problem here. Well, I kinda like it. I've been thinking of using that Super Heroes Grils high school for an Art Deco MOC, might look good in a row with this... -
Huh. Interesting. Window cleaner is generally a good recommendation to remove price stickers from glasses, plates etc. โ so I guess using only a little might indeed weaken/inhibit the adhesive enough to work for the described case. Got to try that one day...

What trains could be rereleased if Lego goes the Legends route?
cimddwc replied to Doom2099's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Before re-releasing these classics, I'd rather have a tan+dark red InterCity train - a heavily modernized version of 7740 like Horizon Express was for 7745...- 52 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
cimddwc replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Also not sure if I'm happy about this re-release, but, well, I don't really need it, don't really have the space (like with the Sydney opera), so that's some money saved for all the other Lego I'll buy anyway. Given that this set could be released anytime, it explains why 10256 appears so late, numerically speaking. Oh, and nice announcement video. :) Edit: did they just remove that tweet? -

2016 stamp, so originally March 2017 release, but postponed? That would actually make sense for 10256, numerically speaking... Then again, if it's a normal dealer catalog, that might be the general release in 2018? Well, we'll see... -
Great indeed! Beautiful colors, architecture and details. ?

Maybe they have to produce lots of Millennium Falcons and are delaying the modular by a month or two? (I hope not...) -
Yeah, a good color for this would really be nice. And I'd also like a graysih-orangish-reddish-brownish brick color as used in Hamburg's Speicherstadt... :)

Thanks, everyone! Well, yes, sand red around the windows on the left would look quite good, even though the sand red directly touches the windows (unlike on the right). But I only had 50 sand red 1x2 bricks available, bought for a decent price some time ago, and didn't want to buy more... Upside down 10: oops, no, that wasn't intentional.
