  1. Yeah, this was what I was trying to get at. Certain cartoons just inherently work better with the minifigure body plan than others. An imprecise rule of thumb I sometimes use for how well/how easily I feel figs would be adapted to minifigures is "how decent would these characters look as human-portrayed mascots (like you see at theme parks or the like)? For characters like most Disney Princesses, it doesn't feel too off at all for regular humans to portray the characters—so regular figs work just fine, even without molded heads. For characters like Looney Tunes or Muppets characters, you could reasonably recognize them if they were a human in a suit with a foam head, so molded heads are mostly all you need. But for characters who really stretch the limits of human proportions to much more bizarre extremes, using regular minifigures for them is much more of a tough sell. Incidentally, sometimes certain characters work with a minifigure even if not all characters from a franchise do. With Karalora's Steven Universe example, I could see Garnet, Steven, and Amethyst working decently as minifigures, but Pearl's long, thin limbs and prominent pointed nose are harder to adapt. A broad-focus CMF series might be the best way to adapt some of these sorts of series, to be honest—since you could include one or two prominent characters who do work well as minifigures without having to stress over adapting every major character.
  2. It's a lot less costly to make existing tires/rims in new colors than it is to introduce a new wheel mold. Which isn't to say it'll never happen, but recolors of existing parts (System and Technic alike) are pretty routine.
  3. With some of those I'm not sure how well they'd adapt to minifigures... the varied art styles and physiques of many of those characters means that they might not look right with the much more limited variety of minifigure builds. Dexter's extremely short build and Deedee's twig-like torso and limbs in particular seem like they'd be a challenge to make into satisfactory minifigures.
  4. That could be slightly more compact, but you'd probably want separate flame pieces so kids could role play lighting them a day at a time—and nine flame pieces side by side, while potentially smaller than using candlesticks, would still be almost four studs wide at a minimum! I dunno. Probably getting a little off topic, but it is an interesting design challenge to think about.
  5. And several of this year's Friends sets. But on that note, there are similar new bee and ladybug prints in some of the upcoming Friends sets—the bee is more realistic than the previous one that originated in the Winnie the Pooh set, and the ladybug is printed on a clear tile like the bee and beetle but unlike the two previous ladybug prints (making it appear more reasonably scaled compared to figures). I wouldn't be surprised to see both of those plus the beetle print in future Animal Crossing sets, since bug catching is a big part of those games and these new tiles seem well suited to Animal Crossing's small, realistic bugs.
  6. Not a space set, but the new Friends airport set does introduce 1x2x5 bricks in trans yellow, which could be useful for people MOCing Classic Space or Blacktron 1: https://brickset.com/sets/42656-1/Heartlake-City-Airport-and-Airplane
  7. This has me curious just how a typical menorah would best be achieved in minifigure scale... you certainly couldn't use existing candle or flame pieces and have it be a reasonable scale with nine whole candles side by side.
  8. Reminds me a little of the 2012 Ninjago sets, where we got two of the Serpentine Generals in the January wave and the other three later in the year.
  9. The transparent box is very cool with a lot of interesting recolors!
  10. JB Spielwaren has pics of all the new sets. Definitely some fun designs. The villains look great, as do the heroes' new outfits (including one of Mateo's outfits which can best be described as "slime Futuron"). Some of the alt builds are less in-depth than previous ones (such as the Mateo Z-Blob car which seems to be more a matter of which preconstructed modules you attach together), but on the flip side you have small Z-Blob and Bunchu sets that seem to be designed with over a dozen alt builds each. No sign of Zoey or Logan—I have to hope they'll show up later in the year.
  11. JB Spielwaren has pics of all the new sets! LOTS to love here... tons of great buildings, characters, and animals. There's a new baby mold, corgis, and guinea pigs. My favorites of the bunch are probably the Beekeeper's House and Flower Garden and 42670 (no English name yet to my knowledge).
  12. JB Spielwaren has pics of all the new sets. I like the new spinners and the combo mech. The others are pretty cool but not exceptional. Love Sora and Arin's new outfits.
  13. I hate to burst your bubble but I looked at the picture and did a bit of digging and that's a Blacktron Renegade MOC from Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-187099/mathtuono/renegade-blacktron-i-remake-6954/#details It's frustratingly common for leakers on sites like Instagram to pair leaked set names or other non-image-based info with pictures of existing MOCs, I guess because it gets more engagement than the accurate info on its own does. But that makes it easy for people to mistakenly think the accompanying picture is what the set itself will look like and not just a substitution.
  14. It doesn't, they've had those pics like that for a while now. I figure it's just showing off the digital instructions since they're a feature buyers might not otherwise know about.
  15. Technically there's already one that could work pretty well courtesy of the Captain Jack Sparrow BrickHeadz: https://brickset.com/parts/6188441/flat-tile-1x2-no-194 Though if they wanted one for new sets they'd probably come up with a new print since that one only was used in one set 7 years ago.
  16. At risk of getting even more off-topic, I've kind of wished Monkie Kid would have a freight train set, given how many of the early team vehicles were based around cargo containers. Back on the City subject, I'm not sure how likely a heritage railway theme would be... for the most part, the City theme seems to focus primarily on new and modern subjects rather than historical ones (even if that history is in the context of its preservation in the modern day). I suppose that could change someday...
  17. I hope that Riyu at least doesn't require disassembly, since he's a living thing! Less fussed about whether the vehicle portions require any disassembly or reattachment.
  18. The creator 3-in-1 team continues to be on fire—just saw the flamingo set which, once again, is gorgeous, and once again has two amazing alt builds (a pink cockatoo and an ADORABLE axolotl). Lots of great coral and pink recolors, too.
  19. Yup! It's also in some other upcoming sets like some of the Creator 3-in-1 sets
  20. I feel like the 10 year anniversary of the Marvel license is one of those that's maybe more notable internally than it is to fans, since unlike Lego Star Wars (which has a clear, unambiguous start date) the Marvel one is slightly more ambiguous—technically the earliest Marvel-related sets would be the Spider-Man sets in 2003, but of course those were licensed from Sony and the broader Marvel Super Heroes license debuted much later. Anyway I like the look of the new sets, even though I mostly don't collect licensed themes. The Marvel logo is a well-done, moderately sized display piece that makes good use of some newer slope pieces, and I like the pop-up function that makes it slightly more dynamic and playable than just a static display. It's cool to finally be getting a Spider-Verse set, and I'm looking forward to the rumored CMF series which has plenty of material to adapt. The airport battle set isn't my cup of tea, though (I prefer a "big minifig" approach to size-changing minifig characters like Ant-Man, even though I appreciate action figure type builds in isolation).
  21. Just saw pics of two more of the sets: 31162 Cute Rabbit and 31163 Playful Cat. Both very cute sets, with some nice new parts/recolors—the rabbit has a new 1x2x2/3 slope piece with a rounded end, and the cat has some nice recolors like the 2x2 macaroni tubes in both light and dark grey.
  22. Why is it a problem? The new helmets barely show the face anyway, and most Lego fans probably have enough replacement head options if they want to swap them out for any reason.
  23. I mean, for a game like Tic Tac Toe it's probably ideal to have markers that are fully colored differently instead of only partially. I expect the functional purpose of it as a game for kids was a bigger consideration than its suitability as a parts pack.
  24. Two sheep, one lamb, and a German shepherd puppy.
  25. I think either that or a molded head similar to this one (fitting snugly over a minifigure neck attachment to allow for a more hunched appearance) would be good solutions.
