  1. None of these ones are jumping out at me the way the Mushroom House did, but my dad might be interested in the train.
  2. I found the figs at a Wegman's in Virginia but they'd already been rifled through—I managed to get one of several figs but all of the Wolfpack figs and pirates were gone. As a non-army builder it's a little frustrating when it's this hard to just get one of each. Haven't been out a lot since then to check other stores but I hope I'll have better luck elsewhere.
  3. I don't think that's specifically a hint. Just a bit of flavor text tying the play features of the set into the wider Lego Space Universe. That's not to say a Futuron set couldn't or wouldn't happen, just that Lego seeding hints of future sets is less common than AFOLs would usually like to believe, and a reference to an old theme is more likely to be referencing the older theme itself rather than some hypothetical remake in the future.
  4. Oh awesome, thanks for sharing all these! I don't really use Reddit so haven't seen a lot of these awesome MOCs. Hopefully they'll provide me some inspiration!
  5. That one is also loose (by design, to help the hook dangle realistically)
  6. I'm far from an expert on how a typical clutch works... would the way this joint "clicks" into place every 15° work with your typical use case, or would the uneven resistance make it too jerky overall?
  7. Built the City Galactic Spaceship today! Really impressed with it overall—I love how it has several great configurations out of the box, even before breaking out any of the other sets from last year. In general I've been very impressed with this City Space theme, but disappointed that I haven't come up with very many MOCs to expand it. A part of me wants to try to make something really big and impressive—like has anyone made a SHIP in this "theme" for SHIPtember? But that's probably a bit too ambitious for someone coming off a several year long "builder's block". Probably best to think smaller for now—I've had a couple of assorted ideas like a larger drill vehicle for the construction team that might be more achievable overall.
  8. In early 2024 there were rumors of them doing something like that, but then the revised starter packs came out in late 2024 using the same non-rechargeable digi-figs, so I think it's unlikely that they'll do another refresh so soon. By the way, I got my first one of the Mario Kart sets today—decided to start with the Baby Mario and Baby Luigi set since it's a nice cheap one that'll pair well with the digi-figs I have. The builds of both karts are great, really cute and accurate to the game. Love the Baby Mario and Baby Luigi figs as well. Just updated the Lego Mario fig to test out the two karts—I appreciate that they have different engine sounds between the two.
  9. The Luchador is fun—it only just occurred to me that the main two previous luchador-inspired figs (from CMF series 1 and The Lego Movie) both predated the advent of dual-molded legs, which work well here to give the wrestler a pair of snazzy-looking white boots. I also expect the cheese headgear to be a big hit among Green Bay Packers fans.
  10. Whoa... I'm a little iffy about parts of the Arc Dragon of Focus's build (especially that harsh bend in the two necks), but I LOVE the colors! Feels extremely fresh for the Ninjago theme (which has mostly reserved colors like purple for baddies instead of something majestic-looking like this). That said, while the colors of the Thunderfang Dragon of Chaos are more conventional for Ninjago villains, the build looks awesome—the ornate shackle around the neck is very cool! Based on minifigures alone these would probably allow me to skip sets like Lloyd's pull-back car, Kai and Nya's flyer, and the combiner mech, but I'll probably still wanna get the latter for Big Zane and Riyu (as well as having a pretty impressive build in its own right).
  11. Okay, so far it looks like that part only appears in this Star Wars set: https://rebrickable.com/sets/75402-1/arc-170-starfighter/?inventory=1 I expect it'll show up in more sets eventually, though.
  12. Set inventories for the new sets will probably be up tomorrow, we'll know then.
  13. I think this'll be of interest to some here: https://rebrickable.com/parts/7229/technic-beam-1-x-3-thick-with-center-axle-hole/
  14. Instructions are out now and the first illustration in the Gaming Controller Jet set gives a peek at what Zoey, Astrid, and Logan will look like in the new year. Astrid seems to have a new hairpiece/crown of sorts while Logan has a ballcap with animal-like ears.
  15. I mean, the Orient Express set was just a year or two ago. While Lego City tries to stay optimistic and relevant to the modern day, Lego rarely has objections to including historic subjects outside that theme unless they depict sensitive subjects like war. That said, I doubt an "Arctic Express Train" in the City theme would be imitating the Polar Express, not just because it's flying MUCH closer to the sun trademark-wise than a real-world historic locomotive, but also because the City theme tends to focus on specific sorts of subject matter that a specific pastiche of a Christmas book/movie like that wouldn't really match.
  16. 8-stud is not a bad scale, especially when you want a reasonably scaled/detailed interior (which is a part of why TV/movie vehicles like those two opted for that sort of scale even before themes like Speed Champions did). I feel like the disagreement about what scale is best for vehicles like this is a good highlight of how "fuzzy" the concept of minifigure scale is, since the scale that works for one set of priorities may not always be the best scale for all others, even with a common factor like minifigures. So in this case, for somebody who wants the most accuracy possible in vehicles the larger scale tends to be preferable, but for people who are on a budget or people who don't want their town layouts to have to grow proportionally, smaller vehicles might be preferable even if they're more of an abstraction of what real-world vehicles tend to look like.
  17. I think a blend of black and another dark, solid color like dark grey or titanium metallic would also be attractive (since the secondary color molding on the Dreamzzz one already highlights features like the beak and wingtips). The latter could really nicely evoke the shininess of real-world raven feathers. That said, the Dreamzzz raven mold is quite big—the wingspan is almost six whole studs! So that could possibly limit the number of sets/minifigures it could naturally fit with, compared to smaller molds like the falcon that came with the CMF falconer.
  18. Not to mention that the ability to rebuild is itself a form of playability (arguably the main one for the Creator 3-in-1 theme).
  19. I mean, using bricks for the model itself is part of why Creator 3-in-1 usually opts for brick-built animals—the bricks used for a brick-built animal in one model can be used on the main build in the other two models (and vice-versa, with different parts from the main model being able to be used for side builds in the other two).
  20. Okay, "Express Train" definitely sounds more like a traditional train set. Should be interesting to see.
  21. I mean Lego doesn't do a lot of suburban house sets in the City theme... if they did one in Creator they'd probably opt for a brick-built one that they could reuse the parts for in creative ways, and if they did one in Friends they'd probably use the Friends flamingo. So sadly the CMF it came in was probably the easiest way to release one overall. Lot more opportunities for mice though. I guess that given the choice between that and the (presumably cheaper) rat, it'd usually be a no-brainer for designers to opt for the latter and have more budget to use elsewhere in the set for things like minifigures.
  22. New Elementary also has a review of some of the new parts/recolors (with reviews of the sets themselves presumably coming later). https://www.newelementary.com/2024/12/parts-review-january-2025-lego-dreamzzz.html A lot of fun parts and figures. It wouldn't surprise me to see a large humanoid figure/mech using that brain piece in the summer sets, as a large vehicle for the villains.
  23. To be honest I sort of understand why they went a little more speculative/sci-fi with the latest Space series... here in the U.S. at least, our current "era" of real space travel is not particularly exciting, with progress outsourced to private companies and frequently beset by delays, accidents, and other mishaps (not to mention non-space-related misconduct by the very vocal figureheads of those private spaceflight companies). So it maybe makes sense for Lego to go a little beyond near-future tech in the optimistic City theme, given that there's a not-insignificant chance of the real-world inspirations for that tech becoming a disappointment if not an outright disaster. In any case, I'm certainly not complaining—this iteration of City Space is quickly becoming one of my favorite "space themes", and I hope the spaceship set next year bodes well for it to continue even further despite the "year of space" being over.
  24. To be honest I'd forgotten that there'd been a distinct mouse mold (as opposed to the new or old rat). It would be amazing to get that again (especially in other colors), but I sort of doubt they'll be bringing back a mold that has been unused for over five years for a Build-a-Mini figure.
  25. Really like the effect of the sand blue painted brick with the nougat/dark orange brick showing through in places.
