  1. At first I had the same impression, but after counting bricks I think there's no height difference. Must be an optical illusion. What bothers me more is that there are no dark red masonry bricks in the walls but plates; the walls look less "solid" somehow...
  2. A solid merchant vessel is probably the most important item in the entire pirate range still missing. With crews, merchants, natives, passengers, animals from expeditions etc... And just imagine ship hulls in different sizes that COULD actually float on water! Now that would be awesome!
  3. It looks nice and the added trading vessel is a welcome surprise! I still don't own the original fortress (and original BSB among others) so I'll get this 100%. I suspected the new model would be pretty close to the original, ironically I think it's even too close, nearly a 1:1 copy. I'm not entirely convinced that Lego should start making remakes; for a small GWP like the Forest Hideout it's ok, but a huge set like this. I don't know. The new Space Galaxy Explorer or Barracuda island were more refreshing, and though heavily influenced by the classic sets, stand on their own. I just hope it's not a new trend on Lego's part.
  4. The leaked set descriptions were accurate as always, so it's not a surprise what we're getting in the end, but I'm still not a fan of the huge ships or planes. I was hoping that with the modular system City will be a bit smaller like it used to a few years back and some long missing structures like a cargo dock, wharf or airport will reappear. The animals are of course great!
  5. Yavin base looks pretty simple, but it's decent; the tree is a joke of course. But the Y-wing with the Speed Champions cockpit is absolutely disappointing... it would have been so much better to make it a separate set close to scale with the current TIE bomber/X-wing. But fortunately I've the Rogue One version. A 35% price increase from January for a regular battlepack is just shocking... the swamp speeder hasn't even 100 small plastic pieces and it's 27€ !
  6. They look splendid and the detail on some like Ernesto de la Cruz and his guitar (!) is simply stunning. Some characters I would have preferred in a different outfit e.g. Aurora in a dress from the wooden cottage where she meets Philipp for the first time, but other small details can be changed. I'll get them all for sure especially since its the last series that comes in blind bags.
  7. Maybe we won't get any playsets from LOTR/HOBBIT but I'd be really surprised if we won't get something out of the TROP series... surely all the parties involved can make a vast profit after the long franchise ban that has been lifted, the series will run for at least 2 more seasons and the fan base is probably bigger than e.g. Indiana Jones. So I'm pretty optimistic Lego is working on a few sets right now.
  8. Rivendell was never an interesting location in the books/movies for me personally, but I’m vey impressed with the final images. The building, gazebo etc. are so carefully detailed, it’s a real masterpiece. Ironically the new figures (especially the elven hairpiece) are the weakest point of the set in my opinion; usually it’s the other way around… Hopefully we get some system sets at one point or another, this set is just too expensive (again)!
  9. Didn't see your link before, makes much more sense... was thinking more of special figs similar to ones in the Harry Potter line.
  10. The train is supposed to be 4+; I really don't think silver anniversary figs will show up in here...
  11. Stitch is amazing, love his expression!
  12. Only 18 figures ... there are still so many great Disney characters missing: Tiger Lilly & lost children, the evil fox from Pinocchio, characters from Cinderella, from Dumbo, from Treasure Planet (the most daring adaptation of classic literature up to date in my opinion), Mowgli & Indian girl, Penny & Medusa to name a few... damn I just want them all !!!
  13. The modular line is obviously European and US inspired. A third Asian influenced setting would be a bold move (colonial period !) but I'd really like to see that in the future.
  14. I've eagerly waited for the official reveal and the Jazz Club turned out nice. It's certainly an improvement in shape, color and storyline over the hotel. Also the interior seems to be more detailed, though the official pictures show the upper floors at a bad angle... At first I was taken aback by the smaller size for the asked price when compared to the cheaper PS, but it seems to be closer in height to earlier modulars. I'm not entirely convinced about the style however; it doesn't look like an American club (from Chicago, New Orleans, Memphis) or I might remember them differently.
  15. I honestly thought the pictures are from some Chinese knock-offs at first... shame the bam selection is so heavily focused on City; it wouldn't hurt one bit to add some historical or futuristic/space torsos
  16. My Chinese fortune cookie told me to expect something precious the following year, so I'm optimistic this theme will be treated better than the last wave of Pirates of the Caribbean... Regarding the brickheads, it seems a bit of a shame the balrog is Gandalf's height - would be interesting to see a change of scale among the brickheads. Only Arwen & Aragorn are good. We all have seen better MOCs of Frodo & Gandalf here.
  17. Simplicity (design idea) is one thing, execution of it another. There are good examples of minimalist industrial design, architecture,... and bad ones. The same applies to toys. Lego should make simple 4+ sets but they just should look better.
  18. Love the otters and the puppy. Shame we get only one of those and not a second in another posture.
  19. Puh, mixed feelings about this wave... especially the 4+ sets look so bad, unfinished and expensive. The 60375 fire station hasn’t even an opening gate, the fire engine is soo small and it’s just 15€ less than the 4+ farm with plenty of animals and a better building. Not keen on what Lego is doing for the target audience here. Since they are obviously shifting focus away from buildings towards vehicles again, I really hope they introduce some light&sound system in the near future. It’s not expensive in production and really attractive for kids (though parents may think otherwise).
  20. Oh, finally the first glimpses of the new sets! However the 60374 fire truck is apparently 55€, just 5€ short of the new and bigger 60320 fire station! Lego has to do better than to pull a single hare out of a hat to make me buy this...
  21. Don't know if it has been posted on some pages before, but someone on instagram claims an otter will be included in a cheap 10$ City set; must be the 60382 Animal Rescue Truck if that's true.
  22. There's a better picture on instagram now... but is it not possible it's just some misleading posting? Looks nothing like the modulars from the last years, very simple and not very big for the asked price.
  23. Glad the jaw piece comes separate, he'll accompany my four Moria orcs much better. I hope the other figures from the series are just as promising!
  24. There is following extension for chrome available, I don't know however if it has an alert function... https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/brickhunter/plhoblcmafoglbnhekjmegkknhifedne?hl=en
