Technic 2019 Set Discussion
Bartybum replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
By that alone I think we can rule out the possibility of a gearbox, if Lego’s form over function approach with past supercars is anything to go by -

What I think is dumb is that they didn’t give them black legs with red lower prints (dual molding is out the window) and then red fabric skirts. Stop cutting corners Lego... -

Just lookup #legoleaks on instagram. Literally everything is there. I dunno if you need an account to look but if so then just make a dummy account. -

Ah I found another major thing! The chin tube bits sit too low, so the helmet looks too long. That being said @Calanon yeah look mate I’m looking at the new one and the old one both front on and the mouthpiece printing is almost exactly the same. -

The helmet looks weird because the inner part of the eyes is a smooth curve instead of pointed how it normally was, making the eyes look wide open. It looks perfectly normal if you photoshop a small gap above the eyes. The longer you look at it, the more normal it starts to become anyway, so I don’t think it’s too shabby. -
Any updates on this beast?

Technic 2019 Set Discussion

I’m convinced there’s no pattern. The data set is too small and spread out. The best we can say is at some point before they’re released lol -

42096 isn’t a UCS like ‘83 and ‘56, so it falls into the same category as the BMW bike from last year, which did have a B-model. I reckon it’s likely they’d do one. -

Oh were those printed? Didn't know that. Also, looking at a picture of the wheel arch, it seems to have some complex curvature going on so yeah @Ngoc Nguyen turns out they can't have stickers (spanning the whole piece anyway). -

I don’t have one so I don’t know 100%, but I’m fairly certain it is since the 42056 had stickers on the arch too. -

Can’t be the only one wondering why they used LBG instead of DBG for the exterior -

@Ngoc Nguyen Yeah i know what you’re talking about. I’m saying that as long as the entire panel/arch has only one axis of curvature, a sticker can be put on it. -

@Ngoc Nguyen stickers can be applied to any piece that only has uniaxial curvature -

Yeah, fit them to size and just approximate where you think they should go. I don’t know the slightest about quality photo editing software unfortunately, but Paint can’t be too bad, especially since you’ll pretty much just be eyeballing it. I recommend downloading Paint.NET though, as that’s much more powerful than regular Paint. Nothing to worry about, it’s pretty much impossible to screw it up beyond repair.

New LEGO Forma
Bartybum replied to Corrado's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@J_C It does though. It looks far more professional sitting on a desk than any other set because it looks like an art piece. Also, I’ve figured out why it looks like it’s flopping around - it’s a symptom of fixing the middle joint in place. As a result the fish can only rotate and so you can’t get the side-to-side sweeping motion of a real fish. I replicated it using a graphing tool, and no matter what I did, constraining the middle joint made the fish look like it was just flopping around. It’ll be worth trying to mod this set to allow the middle section to translate sideways as well as rotate. -

@deraven Pretty much, this set isn’t targeted for the masses, it’s targeted at a specific group that’s too embarrassed to be part of the masses
