It looks so awkward with those small wheels -
Roses are red, violets are blue. I want a UCS Venator, and so do you.

Oh definitely - I agree with almost everything you said after that. As much as I like the Gunship I don’t think it was necessary, and I wish we got a different set because there’s just way cooler stuff out there than Kashykkk. -

That’s not what I took issue with though. It didn’t bother me that you’re not interested in it in the slightest, because everyone has their preferences. What bothered me was your justification which was just flat out incorrect. -

The AT-AP yes, but I won’t hear such blasphemy against the Gunship The only thing the same is the use of the huge circular disk pieces and the ball turrets, because there’s just no substitute for those and they do their job magnificently. The cockpit is one stud narrower, is flatter and looks more aggressive, the air intake is actually circular now and no longer an ugly diamond, the sides are entirely new builds, the little nubs at the front of the disk are new builds, and the disk itself is 2 studs lower in diameter. To say they look almost the same is just flat out wrong. -

Lol I thought for a second that you were talking about the Droid Gunship, and I was about to scream heresy. That walker does look pretty shit unfortunately. Perhaps some other design at the Battle of Kashykkk would’ve been better. -

And this is precisely the type of marketing that I hate. Leaving shit out that should be there in the first place to try scalp a customer into buying more. It’s scummy by principle in my books. -

I think it excuses bad design choices and cutting corners in the name of promoting creativity. How am I (or a kid) supposed to improve the set if it’s the only Lego set I have? -

We’d enjoy it and praise it for how accurate and functionally complex it is? You don’t hear anybody complaining about 42043 and 8110 being technological marvels. Such a bad argument -

Not at all, since the LA is only connected to the arm.@Jundis was correct. -

Nope, they do not. There’s two black beams running between the two bogies, which then connect to the main body. There’s no suspension here at all. -

@SNIPE it’s not suspension, it’s just keeping the tracks taut. -

Yeah that’s what it is. When I buy it I might try give it rocker-bogie suspension -

Good question; absolutely no idea. Doesn’t really bother me too much. I do wish though that they’d start putting a tan round tile at either end of logs to imitate the inside -

My opinion is that saying the average parent is going to be disappointed by the lack of a gearbox is unfounded. The main selling point of this set is that it’s a race car, i.e. massive spoiler, body kit, cool colour scheme, looks fast, Porsche. Most parents who buy their kids this are gonna look at it and think “hell yes my kid will love this, he/she likes race cars.” They’re not gonna go “oh god damn it doesn’t have a gearbox what the hell Timmy isn’t gonna be happy with this.” There’s a bit of nuance here. I’m NOT excusing the lack of a gearbox with “the kids won’t care”. In fact I also think this set should have come with a gearbox, and I think it would have been cool to have a gearbox in a set that kids might get. However, I cannot accept the logic that the average parent will be disappointed by the lack of a gearbox. I think the group of parents that will are VERY few in number, and so arguing that many parents will be disappointed is - as far as I'm concerned - simply untrue. -

For a 400 piece set the front's pretty damn good to be honest. The only real problem lies in the rear - it's just too square at the sides. The spoiler height's like, whatever who cares. -

Eh I think you’re pushing it quite a bit there. The kid will be happy they have a big race car and that’s the extent to which I think the parent will care. -

@JarJarBonks They’ve changed quite a lot actually. Find a picture of the 2014 one (75042) and compare them. You’ll be surprised that the whole set has pretty much been redesigned, save for the round pieces used for the main disc. It’s extremely unfair to say that it looks the same as the one in 2014, because objectively speaking it’s very different. Now, I don’t like that they’re releasing a droid gunship instead of a different droid vehicle (say, an AAT or something else) but at the same time I can’t deny that it does look really nice and that they’ve put serious work into redesigning it. I don’t say this often with Star Wars vehicles but I’m considering the possibility of buying it, which I almost never do for Star Wars sets. Here’s to hoping they’ve intentionally released the shit vehicles before the Clone Wars airs again to capitalise on the cooler ones.
