  1. Oh come on, you can trot out that excuse for every price increase, you dont know the economics of nestle, so just work harder to pay $5 for your snickers bar, right? And its not like these sets are "more powerful" or anything, IMHO the 2017 lineup is exceptionally weak, compared to previous years. Lego always has design costs for new models, they always have some new colour/part combos. And yes, there is inflation.. But if you look at the price/part ratios of the PF sets, something clearly doesnt add up, especially considering i'd say PF elements should cost LESS when included in a set then when purchased separate. And my own personal gripe, i just checked out the new sets in the lego store, and for 42069, they are actually actively praising the fact that the jerry cans are a rare colour... If you need to stoop that low to think of selling points, you should pretty much know you designed a sub par set. That said, out of the bunch i like that set the most, its BIG, and has plenty of features, price/part ratio is excellent, i just dont like it :| Ah well, roll on 2018 i guess
  2. Agreed, i like the fold out sleep compartment and the double segment doors a lot. Just a shame the rest of the thing is sooooo ugly, i just cant imagine putting anything like that on display in my living room
  3. Maybe not a real sin, but i really dont care for most of the technic lineup. I mostly care about race cars/bikes and occasionally something airplane like Ive only bought one set this year so far (the small gyrocopter), and im contemplating getting older sets on bricklink to get my fix, everything on shelves right now is boring and meh
  4. I absolutely love that set, the only thing i think needs improvement is that the front wings/quarter panels needs to be extended forward one stud, so the headlight get covered a bit, should give the front a more agressive look
  5. That would defeat the return to center function of the servo, and make it all pointless
  6. That is an amazing bike! Ive done my own recolour/small mod, but this is on a whole new level! Love the front wheel guard/brakes Do you have any pics of what the inside looks like, engine wise etc?
  7. Oh man, id love that, even if the green is waaaaay off Getting the parts should be doable, but the stickers... Also interesting to see they made it LHs car, while Nico won the title last year.
  8. Ooooh, id love a miura, probably one of the prettiest cars ever.
  9. I love the pagani and maser, both are easily up to SC standard, especially the pagani's front end design is straight up set worthy Any chance of doing your namesake, the gallardo, or another lambo?
  10. I love that Renault! I wish i could print my own sticker, id spend soo much time making custom speed champions
  11. Sand green would be closer then the current forrest green, ideally the set should use green-ish turquoise The forrest green is used on the stickers as well though, so using sand green parts on the cars would create contrast between the bricks and the stickers (dont know why they didnt just use clear back stickers like with the AMG GT3), which would also be ugly imho.
  12. chanedw, i havent had that issue, with the very same set. If i were you, id contact lego support about it, include some pics and they will most likely just send you a replacement sticker sheet
  13. Im liking the fact that the car isnt any higher then the wheel arches, just like the AMG GT3, it makes for a nice low profile.
  14. Looking at the 720s, im not sure how well that would translate into brick from I generally think McLaren cars look a bit bland to begin with, the P1 is probably my least favorite car of the 1st wave.
  15. I love that! Have you considered fitting tumbler tires by the way? They are the same outer diameter as the ones 42000 comes with, and i think should look miles better then the normal ones. I just cant bring myself to spend €50 on four tires/wheels.
  16. The thought of an F1 safety car crossed my mind as well, would make a great addition to the F1 sets weve seen. For a normal car i was thinking more along these lines The McLaren P1 offers bright orange wheel arches, im just not sure if the other parts are out there.
  17. Just put together then AMG, and i love the thing, its an excellent build. And the best part, the stickers are clear-backed. Now with this GT3 car as a base, you can build a normal AMG GT road car in whichever colour you can find the right parts in!
  18. I agree on size and features (we have PF, IR, Pneumatic and the biggest variety of mechanical parts available in 40 years), but it feels rather one-sided right now, LOADS of construction/industrial equipment, with some flight themed sets sprinkled in (display team jet, ultra-light gyro, heavy lift chopper and air race jet). Personally im much more racing/road vehicle oriented, and all we have there is 42048 and 42056, i own the go-kart, and i have no appetite for spending €300 on the porsche, its just not THAT good. There is the funny car and the tracked racer, but 1), the funny car should be named ugly car instead (and features nothing noteworthy other then two tumbler tires), and the tracked racer is just a PF pack in disguise. Im sorely missing the likes of 42000, 42022, 42039, 42036, 43037, 42041, 42029, some of which i have, some of which i sadly missed
  19. BMW/Porsche dont build their cars/bikes to sell toys off of it, Disney does make their movies (Be it Star wars, Marvell etc..) to sell toys. I think that is the key difference.
  20. Im not up to speed on crawler/off-road mocs, but is there any accepted way to make a LSD/Locking Diff? Im thinking maybe making a diff from scratch with a clutch gear as the middle one might provide some LSD like behaviour (although still not very realistic)
  21. I love the Toto minifig, im not sure if the hair piece is new or existing, but they REALLY nailed him, show that fig to any F1 fan and they'll instantly recognize him. The colour choice still baffles me too, but i wasnt going to get this set anyway, too much fluff, too little car for the money. With the Ferrari F1 lego already pretty much admits that the F1 cars are cheaper then the others (with the much bigger then typical extra build in that set), so these two F1 cars are worth €30 at best, making for ~€70 of fluff which i have no interest in. Now off to watch that GT3 review!
  22. Nice review Im not a huge bugatti fan, but the set looks good enough to warrant a purchase imho Hope he does the GT3 next
  23. Looks good! I think that with the wing removed, the front swapped for the road front, and just the grill sticker, the AMG GT would look pretty much finished, maybe remove the side-pipes for a road-version, but those would be easily added on the rear somewhere, considering the big diffuser would need to go as well. Im really looking forward to that little set, and looking at your 3D model just makes me more excited, i might just double-dip, get one stock GT3, and mod the other one to a road-going version.
  24. Return of the Jaguar livery! Including HSBC sponsorship please!
  25. Yup, looks like no-diff, which does take away from the "display a bunch of various real car features" idea of the old 8860, not having a diff in a car that size really sucks... As for the gears in 42057, i agree on the small 12T, but the second 20T on the bottom does add to the ease of operating the engine/rotors I was thinking by the way, something like the car chassis could make for a cool "carrozeria" contest, have each builder start out with the same base chassis/driveline/seats, and see who can build the most interesting body around it. Sadly though the chassis doesnt seem to offer a lot of connection points for bodywork.
