  1. Agreed, the model for 75038 is better, i dont have it, but made a colour-swapped/modded Darth Vader version based on that design, and it is a more accurate Eta-2 However, 75135 still is a good looking set, and displayed in isolation the small regressions over the previous models dont really bother me that much. Besides, i much prefer Obi wan and the dark red colour scheme over Anakin/yellow, so the pilot/colour wins it for me either way.
  2. Nice review! I like the back story bit, it definitely adds to the set for me, as even after seeing rogue one i had no real clue what the point of the Tie Striker was.
  3. This pretty much, i think it is my only SW buy last year, absolutely love it.
  4. I totally missed the yellow rims on the AMG, that thing just gets better and better, my only gripe is the studs above the wheel arches, but that cant be helped if you want the profile of the car kept low. I might even be temped to get two of these for a proper GT3 outfit to take on the 911Hybrid and R8 GTLM The GT GTE is an interesting looking build, i just have the same problem with it as you do with the SF16H, i really dislike the real thing...
  5. Got posted an hour ago! EDIT: just watched the features demo, the rudders are only controlled by the black gear on the back, the elevons (or whatever) just pitch down for VTOL mode, nothing else, as a plus, VTOL mode has a motor driven fan in the hatch just behind the cockpit (as will the F35B), the black gear behind the cockpit steers the nose gear. All in all im a bit disappointed, it doesnt look quite right in terms of wings, the control surfaces are almost rudimentary, and from an air race jet perspective, the VTOL mode makes little sense, its like the bastard child of an F35B, F18/F104 (for the wings), neutered of anything resembling military purpose, with a rather basic feature set. Last years fire plane had far better control surfaces.
  6. Oh i realize that, im just not drawn at all to the T70 (since i very much disliked TFA), but the T65 was frigging awesome in RO. I also realize the Y-wing was up for a new round, and id rather have the Y-wing now then miss out on the Y in favor of a new T65, im just disappointed we missed out on a T65 just because there are two T70s Ill probably go ahead and make my own Blue Leader T65
  7. So after seeing Rogue One yesterday...
  8. The small build mistake in the Y-wing video really caught me out Love these little things, i hope they show up in shops soon!
  9. Ill agree that the price seems fair for the rather complex model, but im not that happy with the complexity/price creep in technic bikes. 42007 was €30, 42036 €40, and now we have €55 for the BMW.. The same urge to make the same type of models ever more complex pretty much ruined star wars for me, the A-wing has gone from ~120 to 350+ pieces in 15 years, add inflation and disney tax and im looking at €55 for what should be a small fighter set. Im hoping technic doesnt do the same..
  10. Hmm, The AMG, Ferrari F1 and Bugatti are sure buys, the Ford GTs a maybe, and the rest a pass, i like the FXX-K set, but €55 for essentially one car (i dont display the set pieces) is just not acceptable. And yes, the Merc F1 set is all kinds of wrong Also, i notice a black helmet on the SF16-H driver, didnt the set have a white helmet before? (ill be giving him a white one anyway)
  11. Look at the light grey bits attached to the elevons, if the elevon were to go up, those grey 2 stud liftarms will foul the panel above it. The angle on the ruddervators is waaaaaay too upright for them to be any kind of effective as elevators, yes they would have an effect, but not anywhere near enough to handle elevator duty by themselves. As for the elevons, that might be a decent point, but this doesnt look like your traditional delta wing, its more of starfighter with the wings all the way at the back.
  12. Funny you should mention that, i described it as an F35B with F104 wings bolted on a few posts back Crap, you're right! quite poor design if you ask me, should be fixable by widening the wings one stud though
  13. The creator blue power jet is pretty much an F35 as it is though, so that argument doesnt fly (:P) with me. Good catch with the mirage by the way, completely slipped my mind (and upon reading your post i expected it to have canards.. guess not), i still think the wings look weird on the big technic jet.
  14. Amazing build! Only thing i would improve myself is to try and give the periscope a bit more raise, now it barely clear the con-tower.
  15. Good point, elevators/ailerons/elevons.. (do know the difference, just hadnt dug deep into the technical feats of the model) either way it is missing the rear wings! And having the elevator control surfaces that far forward reduces their usefulness. Ill be keeping an eye on the forum, to see if someone mods the jet to something slightly better looking
  16. Im incredibly torn on this set. I dont really like the lego rendition (the wings are overly think when close, the gap between the wing panels is large, and the cockpit is waay too square, and R2 sits quit far back/high up), but i do like a good starfighter, and with the current state of lego sets, im not expecting any better sets then this for the price point.
  17. Am i the only one bothered by the lack of rear elevators? I cant think of any jet anywhere near this style lacking the rear elevators.. In fact the entire wing design is odd, like they took the stubs off of an F104 and slapped them onto an F35B. Center of lift/weight look waaaaaay out of sync, with no real way to compensate with a rear control surface.
  18. Ive seen the Yoda's interceptor and the new Phantom on shelves here in the netherlands, perhaps the BPs as well, but i dont pay close attention to those (as in, i think i saw the rebel speeder bike, but it didnt occur to me that it was new) Ill probably get one of the imperial walker BPs to add to my imperial ground forces, and perhaps Yoda's interceptor (on sale though)
  19. Hmm, its gone from reddit too, and cant find anything on imgur/google... Shouldve saved those pics when i had the chance
  20. The telehandler actually looks quite nice, shame about the small LA being easy to force though. Not sure if ill buy one (since im not big on construction stuff), but if i do, modding it to hold more weight is a sure thing
  21. Thanks! I hadnt noticed before that the upper wishbone was fixed in place, in my mind they were both free to move up and down, and with no triangular geometry with the arms and the shock i figured it would all move freely.
  22. I like it! I dont quite understand the front suspension yet, but ill figure that out when i add it to the collection. Ill also probably get rid of the panier boxes and just add those nice grey frames to the partsbin.
  23. Ah, the shock itself functions as the rotating bit of the top bearing then? Still leaves you with the attachment of the shock to the wheel hub, and you would need to align the rotational axis of the shock perfectly with the ball joint on the low suspension arm, but its a good step in the right direction.
  24. Has anyone managed to make a reasonable McPherson strut in technic? It would be much better for a front engine rear drive car then double wishbone, but with the small shocks being as they are, i have enough trouble thinking of how to rigidly mount them to a wheel hubs, never mind the top strut bearing, which needs to rotate on all three axles. (or at least a proper combination of two) Id love to do a medium scale MX5 alike, but suspension with the engine in between still eludes me.
  25. Oh god yes, i have the enzo and 599 from a decade ago, but a proper full featured technic ferrari...
