That's just the way the brand operates, based on the owner's beliefs. They don't stock things they disagree with, and they don't open on Sundays or bank holidays. It might seem unusual, but they've survived as a national toy store when Toys R Us couldn't. They even have more branches than Toys R Us did before they went bankrupt.

What better way to go undercover than to stick on a fake nipple and hope somebody assumes you're Christopher Lee? In all seriousness, I doubt we'd ever get a realistic representation of the golden gun (beyond a golden coloured version of pre-existing parts). It's a gun, made up of several things including a lighter and cigarette case. Hardly the kind of things Lego would be interested in remaking.
-
The golden gun is from The Man with the Golden Gun. That film did not feature an Aston Martin (in fact the car is somewhat forgettable, besides the ramp stunt), so chances are there will be no golden gun involved.
-
Nope, they typically don't stock "occult" products and they include Harry Potter in that. It's not useless. A lot of us are looking forward to those sets.

One of the rules for LEGO Ideas is that they will not accept any submissions from pre-existing licenses. This stops the system getting clogged up with something like Star Wars, in which a nice looking set would easily achieve 10,000 votes, and helps encourage people to submit new and different ideas. It also prevents situations like the Helicarrier, where LEGO was working on a set, someone submits it to Ideas, it gets rejected at 10,000 votes and people can claim LEGO stole the idea.

I wonder if the silhouette is just a generic "sporty car" outline, so they don't give it away too much. The DB5 has a rather iconic shape. The quotes being posted certainly seem to be aimed at the DB5.

Apparently they were on some trading cards. I find it unusual. A lot of people have said they want them, but there's nothing particularly interesting about them as minifigs as far as I am concerned.

I never expected them to make a more modern Aston-Martin under the Bond license. I always assumed they'd go for the more iconic and recognisable DB5. Not that I am complaining, I've been hoping Lego would make a modern Aston for years. I just assumed it would be Speed Champions rather than Creator Expert. In case anyone is wondering, the Chinese catalogue just says "Coming soon for new products".

Whilst I would quite like to see more Doctor Who sets, I highly doubt this will sell less than a new DW set. I have no intention of buying this as a James Bond set, I want it as an Aston Martin set. That factor will be important to a lot of people, and means it will likely sell as well as the other Creator Expert vehicle sets. Additionally it'll sell to the James Bond market, and to kids who want a car with some cool features. The combination of demographics interested is going to lead to more sales. It appeals to Bond fans, car fans, Creator Expert fans. A new Doctor Who set would, unfortunately, only appeal to Doctor Who fans. Plus, it's not like the Lego set designers sat there one day and debated if they wanted Doctor Who or James Bond, like it was either one or the other. They produced a single Doctor Who set, along with a couple of Dimensions packs, and for whatever reason they decided not to produce anymore of them. The Doctor Who line has been dormant for a couple of years. Wandering into a thread about another license just to moan that it's not a Doctor Who set isn't going to change anything.

The Great Hall won't be substantially different in size to the Simpon's House and work well enough as a background to a Minifig display.

Actually, there is a perfectly good reason. Chinese companies have started producing knock-offs faster and faster. Lego don't want them getting them out before the official release. They're even more careful when it comes to licensed sets.

No, but I also haven't spent much time on here since about November (when the Diner modular was announced). People can want things but not talk about them.

Me. Personally I'm quite happy at the smaller scale model.

A lot of you are saying you're not interested any more. Out of curiosity, why are you against the idea of the micro-scale Hogwarts?

A lot of people are complaining, but I am sure a lot of people are also happy. Personally, a nano-scale Hogwarts would make a much nicer display piece. As for the UCS / Not-UCS argument. Technically UCS only refers to Star Wars sets, but that doesn't mean the Helicarrier isn't the equivalent of UCS for the Marvel license.

Let's not forget that we're all expecting this to be based on Goldfinger. The style of the Bond films has changed drastically since the 1960s. I would not expect a modern Bond film to be "suitable" for a Lego set or theme, but the early Bond films are much "goofier" in style, and nowhere near as violent. I'd consider Lord of the Rings to be much darker and violent than what was classed as an action film back in the 60s. The DB5 is also far less of a weapon than the Tumbler was. Tbh, I've been hoping for Lego to get the Aston Martin license for years, and I have checked the Speed Champions line up each year to see if there is an Aston. If this is how we finally get one, I'm happy.

The Creator Expert sets have a recommended age of 16+. The Bond films are typically rated as 12 or 12A. A number of the older films (including Goldfinger, which is where a lot of us are suspecting the set is from) are rated PG. Other sets have fallen into the same age ratings. For example, The Big Bang Theory is rated 12 in the UK.

That really doesn't mean anything. They reject a lot of ideas. As for a lack of "confidential", this is likely a Lego catalogue due out in December/January. "Confidential" stamps are typically on pre-release materials and mockups. They often know things in advance. They may well have copies of the catalogue for December/January in stores already. If the information has leaked and they know they're announcing soon then they have nothing to lose. My local store often confirms unannounced things for me (often small things, like whether the UK is getting the same promotional items as the US etc). -

"The image is already out and a lot of people have saved it" has never stopped companies from having pictures taken down before. We'd all seen the pictures of the new Death Star but it was still taken down. I'm looking forward to seeing the details of the interior.
