  1. My impression was the opposite. I really like the yellow, because it makes the accent more striking. Without the yellow the set would look like a big ugly dark grey blob. And I think that gap is necessary. When I don't want to turn on the battery box, I can rotate the long axles manually.
  2. I started building the B-model yesterday. When I came to the input pit, I immediately tested with the small bricks. I found that the filtering doesn't work as expected. and the B-model offers less playability to me, so I stopped there and disassembled the whole thing.
  3. So Jim's review will be available on Dec 1st, the common embargo date, I guess?
  4. It's funny that when I put on the double clutch gear, the drive function almost doesn't work. When it does, it crawls even slower than the BWE in Sariel's review or that in the Toy Fair. So I decided to use the double 24z gear permanently.
  5. When I rotate the bucket wheel manually and slowly, I notice a slight bump every 90 degree. This bump makes the bucket wheel need more force. Does anyone have this issue? Any idea how to solve it?
  6. I just got my paws on it yesterday and built it non stop for 12 hours. I enjoyed every moment of it, and the result looks stunning! The bucket wheel indeed has jerky movements, but it doesn't make me enjoy it less, because I don't play with the models. The yellow accent really makes this set gorgeous. I replace the two clutch gears with two 24z gears, and the playability improves significantly. The XL motor has ample power to move both belts and the bucket wheel.
  7. Thanks Blakbird for the amazing review. Can you calculate the gear ratio from the motor to the conveyor belts, to the tracks, and to the slewing ring?
  8. Steep discount for BWE at amazon.de: 204 EUR
  9. One MOC I've been waiting to see is a huge trencher, using the same bucket wheel.
  10. Finally, a video with A model feeding into B model is available:
  11. I'm thinking that, the gear sequence was put in the wrong way, maybe because Porsche wanted it to be that way. Maybe to mimic the real PDK.
  12. My guess for the functions of the Jet. Motorized functions: - Landing gears - Canopy - Air brake - 4th function: ??? Manual function: - Rudder - Flaps - Ailerons I'm not really excited for it at the moment. I have the Cargo Plane 42025 and am not too fond of it, because: - It is full of holes and gaps. - The large wing span makes it space consuming. - The wings bend because there is little support it. If the Jet turns out to have those 3 things then I'll skip it.
  13. The only set so far that is so tempting to me to get a 2nd one just to build the B model.
  14. I think the real gem in this BWE is the function that lock the lower belt in respect to the ground.
  15. Could it be that the BMW bike will have chrome panels
  16. So can we lessen some complaints directed toward TLG now
  17. Brickset review of the B model: http://brickset.com/article/23024/42055-b-model-mobile-aggregate-grader According to one comment: - Even the real screening machines have problem with jamming. Maybe the B model is intentionally designed to have occasional jamming. - There is a limit in loading rate in the real machine. - This type of equipment is not designed to screen rocks or pieces that are so closely related in size and shape. To sum up, "this machine needs some special care and attention, but so does the real thing."
  18. @ImanolBB: Is there any way to route movement directly from the XL motor to shake the chute, instead of using an extra M motor
  19. @ImanolBB: What are the ways to speed up the shaking rate?
  20. And that concludes the 2016 flagship. To me, it is a truth universally acknowledged that, a set with huge part count and massive size, must be in want of playability and proper functionality.
  21. This "C-model" looks way cooler than the official B-model:
  22. Milan said in the Technic interview that he, Markus and Lars (designer of Cargo Plane) are the plane geeks, and he wouldn't dare to work on a motorcycle set because the other two designers will kill him. So my impression is that certain designers will work on certain types of model. I think it's highly likely that Milan is the designer of the Jet, and Markus... well we all know what he'll work on
