Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Ngoc Nguyen replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just so you know, CM4Sci, the guy who usually does the leak thing, is now banned. Probably the reason why we haven't had anything. And about rumors for 2H sets, we actually have some. Here is what CM4Sci said in September: Since there is no truck in 1H, I think both of them are for 2H. -
I've had these questions for some time and would really appreciate if someone can enlighten me: - Why are truck-mounted cranes are painted red? For example, cranes on Unimog, Arocs, Xerion. - Why does wheel machinery have outriggers, but track machinery doesn't? For example, 42009 vs 42042, 8043 vs 42053. - What is the diagonal-red-and-white-stripes mark called? I see them on crane arms and outriggers, do they signify moving parts? Thanks a bunch!

The rumors will be available at the end of Jan. -
@Didumos69 How did you get the Porsche to run easily in 1st gear? Mine can't. In 1st gear 1 revolution of the drive train drives 1,6 (20/12 * 16/16) rev of 2nd gear axles, 2,7 (20/12 * 20/12) rev of 3rd gear axles, and 5 (20/12 * 24/8) revs of 4th gear axles. Since they're all geared all, the torque power reduces significantly, so there will be little torque left to drive the engine.

I think we'll see limited use of meshing the new bevel worm gear with anything not 20z gear, because doing so requires offsetting the whole drive train by 0.5L.- 5,509 replies

Let's see what kind of animal he can turn that set into And according to that article Milan didn't have a formal education in engineer or design; he studied English and taught at an elementary school before moving to Lego. This guy must be a genius! -

The box is bigger than I thought! And the B mode even has a stand. If the B model is good I can be tempted into buying 2 sets, just like I've bought two 42053 -

Since it has the same diameter with the 12z gear, its has the same meshing compatibility. That means it can mesh with 12z at 2.5L, 35z at 3.5L, and 60z at 5.5. On another note, I think I know one of the reason why the 2L pin with axle (part 6015356) is made in soft plastic. - It's probably intended to be a clutch for fans and blades, because it has less friction than the blue 3L pin, but still enough friction to move axle hole. Its use in the 42057 Ultralight Helicopter and 42066 B model Private Jet illustrates this. - It's intended to use with 2L pins with bush to reinforce structures, and as we all know, 2L with bush tends to crack in the bush. Making the 2L pin with axle in soft plastic probably reduce the effect of heat expansion, thus prevent bush cracking.- 5,509 replies

When I first built the 8043 B model (it's a RC tracked front loader), I was blown away by how it was way faster than the 8043 or 9398 or 42030, and I've always thought why TLG didn't make a RC set like that. Now I'm so tempted to get the 42065... -
I think most pieces in Lego are developed for more than one use, as that's what Markus said in the Lego Technic blog. That grove allows the quadrants to be in effect an XL turntable, as demonstrated in the official set. However, I think the grove is also intended to be held by some edges. Notice that the gear quadrant has the same interface with the 42043 gear rack: bevel gear compatibility + grove. On another note, for those who would like to speed up the BWE without having to modify too much, simply replace the 12z and 20z gears in step 506 with two 16z gears.

Those 3x5 lime beams have 2 attachment points: 1 to the diagonal 5L beam, 1 to a vertical 3x5 lime beam. So the structure is fixed and rigid. -

It's confirmed that in the Jet, there is a VTOL function with motorized nozzle, upper doors, lower doors, and spinning fans. Stickers for the upper control say FLIGHT and VTOL. And for the motorized wheel retraction, the wheels don't actually retract all the way up onto the body. They just fold up about 45 degrees, which is kinda meh to me
