@jrx Thanks a lot for the info. - What wheels does the SUV truck have? Like, Unimog wheels, 9398 wheels, or Claas wheels? - What wheels does the Car Transporter have? - What color is the spider crane, the car transporter, and the SUV in? - What are the SUV's functions? 4 motors mean steer, drive, and 2 more, isnt it? - Does the spider crane looks like this or like this - Does the spider crane use the Arocs telescopic gear racks?

Technic General Discussion

Many of you should be familiar with power creep, the trend in which characters gradually receive power boost to keep the series interesting and ongoing. Now replace "characters" with "sets" and "power" with "size and price". -
I've just finished building my copy which arrived today, and it turns out to be wayyy better than I thought! It feels like a mini 42056. The combination of orange and black under room light looks really awesome, and the model has some kinda glow effect. And it fits right into a need I don't know I have. After the 42056 and the 42083, I was kinda fed up with spending a bunch of hours just for 2000 piece body work. The fact that I'm slipping into a Dark Age also feeds into this. Then here comes the Corvette. It looks good enough and small enough for a quick after-work evening build. I wouldnt be surprised if this series of small licensed supercars one day replaces the series of big premium supercars.

Generic Contest Discussion

The arches may be fixed in orange but that doesnt mean the whole model has to be in orange. I want to see how people can come up with a car in one color while the wheel arches are in a different color (orange). -

Contest idea: build a car around the small Corvette wheel arches. -

@Jim Now that you're done with the 1H reviews, can you put the dark azure panels into 42039? -
[REVIEW] 42090 - Getaway Truck
Ngoc Nguyen replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I intended to get this set at first because it looks bad enough for a bad guy, and the general shape is recognizable as a pick up truck but the wrong proportions ruin it for me. The cabin is too small compared to the hood. It'd be better if the hood uses 3x5 panels instead, and the cabin is 2 studs longer. -

This set is basically a cheap part source for the 10 holes 3x11 shell panels. -
I'm really really on the fence about this set. The 1H flagships every year all manage to bring something new to the table, and I manage to get most of them. This Porsche doesn't seem to bring any. As for super car eye candies, I have a number of them already (42000, 42056, 42077, 42083) As I'm slipping into a dark age, I feel more and more reluctant to buy this set. But I still like its look, and if I let it go past, when it retires I'll have to pay 1.5x or even 2x the price

Last year I bricklinked parts to build the 42070 B because I thought paying the full price for 42070 just for the B model and a bunch of unused pieces wasnt worth it. I didnt think I'd have much use for 4 telescopic gear racks and the turntables. But since there's an upcoming spidercrane with the possibility of having 4 or 5 telescopic gear racks, I feel like If I had ordered a 2nd 42070, I would have been able to harvest those spare parts to build the spidecrane and will not have to buy a spidercrane set

The largest land machine was already done. I really hope it's not gonna be another set-with-biggest-piece-count-ever this year. Just 2k parts is enough for a decent flagship already. Anyway, since the cat is out of the bag now, I'm gonna spoil another info: In the survey sent to retailers, in the Lego Technic section, there is a question that goes "How is your confidence index for the new Power Function?", with a rating from 1 (very unconfident) to 5 (very confident). That means we can expect new PF for 2019 2H or 2020. Go rejoice.
