Technic General Discussion

I finished bag 2 of the Unimog today. I discovered that the construction of the cabin is a kind of cheating, as it involves the flex between the parts to force the connection. The ceiling of the cabin is properly connected through perpendicular connectors, which means it stays on a horizontal level. Therefore, technically it cannot connect to the inclines of the windshield. But for some reasons the instruction tell me to do so. That would leave the connectors in a permanently bent state. -
I've been wondering that, since Brexit is coming (or not, who knows), which carries a lot of risks, how does TLG handle the IP matters with Land Rover. Like, is it the case that when the UK is in EU, there will be a different set of IP laws, and when it finally leave, there will be another set of IP laws?

And I proudly present to you, the comparison of all Unimog-tyred models! I don't include the Unimog cabin because it's gonna block the view of other models. All models are aligned to their front axles. It's nice that all of them are 4x4 non-off-roaders. In terms of wheel base length, from smallest to largest, the order is 42030 A -> 42030 B -> 42082 -> 8110.

Finally got some time for myself. Since I've just got my paws on a 8110, I immediately think of 8110 vs 42069. Both of them are 4x4 off-roaders. 9398 is not included because it doesn't have a common drive train between two axles. The comparison between these two models is very interesting because 8110 chassis represents a luxurious way to build a 4x4 off-road chassis, while 42069 chassis is a more casual one. - 8110 chassis use ball joints, which haven't been released in an official model for quite a number of years and as a result are quite pricey on Bricklink, while 42069 chassis doesn't require them. - The drive train in 8110 is also more fancy. It has a middle differential, and involves transmitting two separate axles (one for drive, one for steer) several levels up into the top plane, so that one goes to the 4 inline engine and one goes to the HOG steering. That means the two separate axles have to go through several 16z clutch gear On the contrary, in the 42069 only the drive axle needs to be transmitted 3 levels up. The steer axle just go straight to the perpendicular redirection and to the HOG steering. Enjoy the pictures. Underbelly shot. You can see that 42069 has a more complex chassis design, but simpler and more effective drive train.
