Running in a Loop
andrewganschow replied to Athos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As rasikaa explained tracks are about the only feasable option here, you could somehow make a liftarm rotating underneath the "ground" and have another liftarm that slides on that one, but speed would be variable as the character comes closer or moves further away from the center of rotation. But the sliding liftarm would have to have a groove from underneath "ground" to above "ground" and my thinking is that it would get jammer often. A track sound like a really good option. Im curious to see your project on this be cause I must have missed your last project unless this is all one big project in which it sounds awesome. -
Stop it! Your making me want to buy things I can't afford! Wonderful video showing what it's capable of.

42053 - Volvo EW160E

Hmm, I wonder if this set contains a new hand pump, and a 5 or 6L pump, both connected to the valves Via a T piece, so you can hand pump it, or motorize the small pump, I see room in the superstructure for it, so it might be possible. -
Now that I have my computer setup at my desk with all my beams and bricks, (I have a separate desk for gaming), I've started using more online resources when I build, various ones include sariels gear ratio calculator, his blueprint scaler, and online building instructions to help design mocs and modify sets, so what resources do you all use when you build?
-
When I modify a set I usually look at the part of the instructions where the modifications will be made, see what that area holds together and does. I just put an L motor in the chassis of 42009 to run the outriggers separatly from the superstructure. Found an area that I could gut to fit the motor, then a clear path to route the motor cable, then a clear spot for a switch and battery. Modifications are all about observation of what your working with, limitations of that area, and structures that are attached or attach later to that area.

now that would be really interesting, although to be ultimate, youd also have to make it 6 or 7 axles, just to be over the top.
-
I ask this question as I rebuild 42009 every 2 or 3 months, Spend a couple nights to rebuild and reminisce on the experience of the set, the different techniques it offers to build and strengthen a build. I feel that i constantly come back to this set as it ignited the Technic fire inside, it opened me up to the theme. Just curious if others have a similar set or experience that they love to Re-experience.

[HELP] Bogie Lift Axle
andrewganschow replied to Dafgek81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ah ok, I see what your working or now, I don't have experience with those axles, ive just experimented with using the steering axle as a lift axle, a bogie is a really strange setup, never seen one before. -
[HELP] Bogie Lift Axle

If you had the height, you could implement one of 42043 steering axle, replace the shock absorber with small cylinders, they provide plenty of downward force, ( my whole arocs sits on those Cylinders at the moment, and it is extremely stable when there full) but you'd have to find out how to position the cylinder so you wouldn't have interference from the hoses hitting the wheel. That's been my only experience with lift axles, I hope the best to you and your build. You even be able to make that last axle steered. -
You know with all this nonsense talk about "ultimate" I'm really beginning to think someone at TLG goofed up and called the Porsche ultimate, when they really meant to call 42055 Ultimate. Let's go with that theory to ease the ultimate talk. Just a guess.

It might make the build harder, but have you considered the rocky boggie suspension, but in an articulated setup so the axles don't need to be steered?
