IN REALITY: This ship was originally set 70816, Benny's spaceship (x3), with the Unkiitty seat and radar dish removed in favor of a skylight and laser gun turret instead. The sliding wings were redesigned to be stationary and thus provide space under the turret for commander Bob. The ship also has separate passageways for crew to walk so they don't have to go outside to go to Bob, engineering, or the bridge. Oh yeah, and it's orange now! I was inspired to build this model by this cool ship by Oran Cruzen as seen here. IN FICTION: The Bright Future was designed with help from Benny the 1980-something space guy. This heavily armed ship was designed to replace the lighter Bright Hope, which was heavily damaged in a firefight between two Maelstrom Void-Ships. (The enemy was defeated with help from the allied Nortsa sister ship Shining Star and the Odyssey II space laser, but at great cost.) The glaring problems in the design of the Bright Hope led the design crew to the master space-designer Benny, who in turn took his original SPACESHIP(!) design to the next level with more armor and sleeker wing profile. The wings were then redesigned to reduce hyper-space speed but allow for greater range. Bob was even given an office where the wing extender mechanism was! The rear of the ship has three engines. The rear of the ship has three engines and a rotating, elevating quad-gun turret. This small and nimble fighter was designed after looking at a Classic Space model I found on my hard-drive. (I think it was inspired by a model my brother bought off Brick-Link a couple years back.) Anyway, I then tore the model apart and have added four guns, larger wings, and the larger air intakes from my Nexus tower rocket. The ship features an enlarged cockpit with controls and seating for one figure. The rear of the model features one tail-fin and two engines exhaust ports. The rest of my Neo-Nexus force stuff is seen in topics here and here. Comments, Questions, & complaints are always welcome!

[MOC] Weasley's flying car (with instructions)
Murdoch17 replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Licensed
I made an entire topic for it here. I linked back to your topic and instructional video, but did NOT give away the LDD file. I hope that okay, and thanks for the awesome model! -
This model was originally by Hachiroku24 as the flying car driven by the Weasley's in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In real life, the car type used in the film was made by Ford for sale in the United Kingdom and was called the "Anglia". This particular version (a 105-E Super) was built from 1959 - 1968. I've wanted a accurate version of the flying car driven by the Weasley's in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I have been doing this cycle of building, revising with newer parts, tearing apart, and repeat since 2002 when the original set 4728 (Escape from Privet Drive) was released. I changed the color from the original medium blue to black around 2004 and revised the wheel size around 2011. Now I have added a new style front end to the car via a design by Hachiroku24. Oh, and the mini-figure in the picture is my sig-fig, which is NOT included with the car in the LDD file. The car without my sig-fig. The car can seat two mini-figures on jumper plates, and also features opening doors and trunk with plenty of space. The rear of the car features a license plate and a jumper plate to represent the exhaust pipe. As I said, the car fits two mini-figures comfortably. (The steering wheel is in the wrong spot for UK driving, but I live in the USA so I changed it for right-side driving here in the States.) Here you can see the original Hachiroku24 model, which inspired me to revamp my car. If you want to build one of these according to the original designer, follow the instructions in video form in this topic here on Eurobricks. Comments, Questions, and Complaints are welcome, though any praise for the blue model and front bumper design should go to the original designer ( Hachiroku ) in his topic, as linked to above. If you are looking for the LDD file for my car, here it is.

[MOC] Weasley's flying car (with instructions)

I modified the roof and put jumpers plates in the seats to attach figures more securely. The pictures will be up soon, should I post them here so you can see what else I did? -
[MOC] Weasley's flying car (with instructions)
Murdoch17 replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you for taking the time to do the instructions, as I've been wanting a better version of the Ford Anglia for a long time now. I've just used your instructions (with some mods for my tastes) to create my own version! -
This Retro styled gas station is a throwback to the glory days of the Drive In Theaters, Route 66, tail-fins on cars, & full service every time you fill up. You used to get this with every gasoline purchase: - Check lights - Fill gas tank - Check oil - Washer fluid refill - Check Tire pressure Fast & Friendly service guaranteed! (Now how's that for good customer relations!) The model was originally built in 2012. It was modeled after the 2011 CARS set 8487, (Flo's V8 Cafe) but made larger and without the launcher and car wash. I recently changed the color scheme to OCTAN colors, (red white & green) plus I added a truck of unknown origin from 2014 (I think my brother may originally have built it.) I'm not 100% sure where it came from as it's been on my computer for so long. This gas station has eight retro-style stand-up pumps, and three lanes for cars to sit while pumping gas. As a side note, this part should go where the 2 x 4 x 3 brick is above the door while two of these 1 x 4 tiles should go on the stand-up sign. The model's rear swings open to reveal the the clock, four-flavor soda fountain, and the attendant's desk. Their is also a storage area under the soda fountain. The back of the model features a rear exit. I think my brother may originally have built this truck, but I'm not 100% sure where it came from as it's been on my computer for about three years. The rear of the truck. The driver's doors open, and so do all four storage compartments. The complete LDD file is available here, if you want it. Remember: Comments, Question & Complaints are always welcome! EDIT 1/9/17: added new pictures and an updated ldd file with tanker truck.

These 7 stud wide 4-6-2 steam locos are very old (2013-ish) and were built from the remains of my two Emerald Night set 10194's. They are named the Emerald Night (dark green) and the Auburn Flyer (reddish brown). I got the 7-wide tender idea from Brickshelf in 2013, but don't remember who was the original designer. Does this help?
-
I have one in reddish brown instead of dark green.

Originally built by my father in 2004-ish, this building is one of my dad's biggest creations. I modified it and brought it up to my specifications... okay, I whinged it from looking at the model about two years ago. I took some liberties, (and made some mistakes) with the original model. For example: the first version had a smaller smokestack, (diameter wise) and a different Railroad loading dock. I also changed the roof to be removable to allow access to the inside. The factory was originally built in sand red, not regular red. Since this color is extremely expensive and hard to find, I used regular red with modern white window frames plus light blue glass. This end of the factory has a ladder to the top of the smokestack. Inside view with the removable roof taken off. I never finished this part (neither did my Dad), and probably never will. As to what it is supposed to produce... that's up to your imagination. The boxcars were inspired by this red 2014 design by Flickr user lets_play_lego. The doors open about four studs to let freight (or hobos) inside. The grille parts on the sides of the car are supposed to be ladders to access the roof walkway. The freight cars are already built in real life, but the factory is too expensive to build right now by me... maybe someday! The LDD file for both factory and boxcars is available here. Comments, Questions and Complaints are always welcome!

7997 - inspired railroad station - expanded and improved
Murdoch17 posted a topic in LEGO Train Tech
I built this station with set the 2007 CITY set 7997 in mind. I got the original set in 2007, along with a double rail crossover for my Birthday that year. I wanted to make it a full building but didn't have the parts. By 2008, I had discovered Bricklink, but the station was in pieces by then and was not re-created until early 2012. The station was a stock set, while I searched for ideas. Eventually, I came across a build by a fellow Eurobricks user named Lazarus that incorporated a modular basis, a full building (street & track-sides) & a appealing design. I saved a picture of it and made my own design based on his. I included really neat features, (such as the arched lattice windows made with a fence) but I went too far and made it impossible to transport to train shows and LUG meetings. The platforms were very flimsy om the XL baseplates, and during the move to my families current house, it shattered into small chunks. So, I went back to the drawing board, scrapping everything but the building itself. Here is the end result, which is strangely near where I started with set 7997. It has one platform, plentiful outside seating on the platform, and is red instead of yellow. There are many changes from the set, (no stairs on the platform, for example.) but the heart and soul of that 2007 set is still there. The row of studs on both track and street sides should say the station name in printed 1 x 1 tiles. This sign currently says "IRONWOOD", as that's the name of my city layout. The model is now 8 studs deeper, allowing for more room for my hands when being worked on. Here we can see the street side of the station with it's new wheelchair access ramp. Here we can see the interior of the station, with blue ticket machines, seating, and snack bar on the first floor. The train tracking / switching controls are located on the second floor along with the employees - only coffee machine with paper cups.. This printed part here provides the computer display screen. Here you can see the modular breakdown of the model, which includes the following: -Station building (lower floor) -Station roof and Tower control room (upper floor) -Tower roof -left platform section -right platform section The LDD file is here, in case anyone wants to built their own version. (I will be building this version soon, most likely before Christmas.) Comments, Questions & Complaints welcome! -
Modular railroad trestle (Lattice Girder + Truss hybrid bridge)
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks. I was working on changing it from before you posted, but your ideas guided me. I worked on getting those truss parts together for 10 years before i came up with this, ever since the part was introduced. Please post pictures of your bridge! Thank you! As a special treat here is a new pic: This is the bridge with my Emerald Express passenger train on it as seen in this topic here. I have the train built in real life, and am working on getting the bridge built. -
Modular railroad trestle (Lattice Girder + Truss hybrid bridge)
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I have modified the LDD file to remove the middle pillar and raise the support sides to truss level. The LDD file and pictures above have been changed to reflect your suggestions. Thanks Man with a hat, as it looks a ton better now! -
Forum Upgrade - One Month Later
Murdoch17 replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
That's the same issue I've been having since the upgrade: same browser, exact circumstances, and similar work-around. Anybody else having this issue or know of a permanent fix? -
I took two bridge designs (lattice girder and truss) and combined them. I know it isn't realistic, but the design is the best I could come up with. However, the truss part is removable via Technic pins, so it can become more viable for display at shows or home layout use. Here is the bridge with the top trusses on. The bridge with the top trusses removed. The 18 Technic holes could be used for decoration of some sort. The two ramps (which are included in the LDD file) use two-thirds of a brick every 16 studs over three track-lengths to make the gap from base-plate level to full bridge height. PLEASE NOTE: Their is a height restriction for the bridge with the top attached if you use the Maersk double-stack train cars or anything taller than set 10014 (My Own Train - Caboose). The bridge will simply not fit anything taller without modifications. (The train car is NOT included in the LDD file!) Here is my original inspiration for the bridge, courtesy of Flickr user Fireglo450: lattice girder bridge on Flickr The Lego Digital Designer file for my model is here: LDD file This bridge will be built in real life sometime around January 2017. Comments, Questions, & complaints are welcome!

I just uploaded version two of the engine, with different domes on the boiler and stripes have been added. As you can probably guess, the feed water heater has been removed and the tender lettering has been placed in it's proper location to spell out Brick Railway Systems. Here is an fancier picture of the engine and a little story to go with it: Late December in Chicago - 1938 Engine 6437 is sitting in the freshly fallen snow on the ready track at O'Leary Yard in Chicago. She is quite visible though the slight fog in her dark green paint scheme. The engineer reads his orders once more and pulls the whistle cord. She is moving very slowly, as if waking from a deep sleep as the headlight comes on. The loco is heading off to the Dearborn station and the Emerald Express passenger train waiting therein. Soon she and her train will be heading to the warmer weather of New Orleans and the gulf coast of Louisiana.

Been out of the loop, what have I missed.
Murdoch17 replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Actually, their were TWO trains in that contest! Here is the second engine. But yes, your engine is probably the first and only L gauge loco of that type, and probably the first pneumatic loco out of Lego ever. Your such a trendsetter! -
I actually think the police station looks good. it has a diagonal (corner) window piece that is used three times in blue from what we can see, maybe more. I wonder if that's the same part from the Assembly Square modular?

Well, this train came out a month ago: Winter Holiday Train which features a red one of these bogie plate 4025. Also, a dark brown PF motor wheel hub 2871b was released in a Ninjago set back in August. The winter train I mentioned earlier was turned into this by me for pulling my Western US military train.... this is just to show off what you can do with the basic 4-2-0 design. -
I finished the plane yesterday ,and just uploaded the new real world pictures. i hope you like it, because here is a peek at the whole setup. Here we can see the Adventurers home base with the seaplane called the "Island Hopper", the large tramp steamer "Eastern", and the smaller tugboat "Gulf Stream". Enjoy!

MODS: Sorry for the bump! Coming Soon: I finally started finding parts for the Emerald Express' extra passenger car and 4-8-2 steam loco. The rest of the parts not seen here have been ordered from Brick-Link. However, my 2-6-0 steam loco will be scrapped in order for it's parts to be reused... dark green is a expensive color, and 1 x 2 x 3 windows are in this color are 1.50 (USD) or more apiece!

sorry for the BUMP, but the first post has been updated for the first time in a year. The LDD file and real life pictures should be up soon, as I ordered the parts earlier today.
