  1. This looks brilliant : ) I think the slight roof inaccuracy is because the model's roof is curved, whilst the real F355 roof is almost completely flat. I wonder if removing the curved panels and replacing with a flat roof would help? It's lovely model no matter though!
  2. This is phenomenal. Genuinely brilliant work, and really well explained too
  3. Nice idea : ) Big Block V8, working Technic 2x2 pistons with timing chain
  4. This is brilliant. It immediately reminded me of the Thunderbirds chair things they use to enter their respective aircraft (or Wallace and Gromit). I think you have an opportunity to further develop this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paN781Mhb8I
  5. An example of the power of four ^
  6. To those outside of the AFOL community this car is what LEGO is all about. The general population don't think of Power Functions, SNOT etc when thinking of Lego. They think of little cuboids stacked on top of one another, and this car does that better than anything I've ever seen : )
  7. Weird looks, awesome off-road abilities. Looks a riot to drive : )
  8. Well that's the bar re-set! I think this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to start a topic about someone's MOC. More pictures here: http://thelegocarblo...icture-special/ Incredible stuff.
  9. No idea. I think the Vampire GT is my favourite. Or Sheepos(?) Veyron or Porsche
  10. Found this 'Top 5 Technic Supercars' list today - great to see some Eurobrickers in the Top 5 list! The list was compiled by the Head Turnerz group admins on Flickr, of which I'm a member. It's a friendly group worth checking out if you have a Flickr account. http://thelegocarblog.com/2014/07/15/the-top-5-technic-supercars/
  11. No. Life's too short : )
  12. So, is displaying models harmful to them? Nope What do you guys do to your models to keep them safe? Nowt Glad I could help
  13. I have a truck powered by four XL motors (geared down once that further increases torque) and the power goes through one 3L diff. The 12t gears in the diff are fine. I broke the middle gear when the truck was geared down twice (and about six other gears), but with it geared down once it's been fine. It seems you either had a weak gear or that something isn't quite right with your drive train.
  14. Weight weight weight. Power can overcome this to a degree - but as weight and power increase, load on the parts does also. Simplicity is your friend.
  15. I've been a bit lazy and so I've not taken the chassis apart for photos, but there are a few more pictures on Flickr now, which (I think) are all that would be needed if you wanted to recreate the chassis yourself - as it's a very simply constructed design. Complete underside Sills and front and rear valances: Gearbox:
  16. Only if someone wants to make them! I can take more photos of the chassis now if someone does possess instruction-making skills
  17. The very first sentence in their 'About' section reads: Super Awesome Micro Project is: A car made of Lego, that drives, has an engine made from Lego which runs on air. (wheels and some load bearing elements are non-Lego) With that I'll take a back seat on EB - I think it's such a shame that there's so much rife jealousy here towards others' success. They're not conning anyone, because a) it says there's non-Lego involved in the construction right there in the very first sentence, and b) even if they didn't say there was non-Lego involved (which they did), they built it for FUN. They're not trying to sell it to someone under false pretences like a guy with a fake Rolex, and they are perfectly entitled not to give a stuff about the purist rules set out in a little corner of the internet by people they've never met. This isn't going to win me any friends here, but meh, lighten up people. It's Lego (mostly), not the use of chemical weapons in Syria. I'd be bloody proud if I made it and I bet anyone here would too. Except I didn't make it, and nor did anyone else here, and that to me, seems to be the problem.
  18. Crikey, there's a lot of grumbling about this! I have no issue believing 256 Lego cylinders can power a light vehicle very slowly for a short distance. Yeh, there'll be a non-Lego compressed air tank somewhere on this but how is that different from the batteries in a Power Functions powered MOC? It isn't. At all. And sure, the frame is metal. But so are Lego's own models at Legoland. It's damn cool and much props to the builders for designing and making something that no-one else has before. It seems there's a lot of miserable jealousy on Eurobricks Can't we just be happy that someone's taken Lego to new levels and is getting news coverage for their efforts (it's on the BBC homepage in the top 10 news stories today!). I think it's ace, and the world (and Eurobricks) would be a lot nicer if people just congratulated one another rather than picking holes in others' achievements
  19. Cool, it looks like it could be a set. Nice that it works on snow too
  20. Tell that to Lotus. Or Chevrolet (Corvette). Or the BMW with their new 'i' cars... Personally I find this creation an amazing feat of engineering. Sure it has non-Lego bits supporting it, but then so do the models at Legoland. Inspiring stuff, if I had a hat I'd take it off to the guys that built it.
  21. I thought the body work would be the one people would want to build but it seems everyone's nervous of it!
  22. The component requirements are up. As an example, the Bodywork: Our Crowdsourced Supercar requires several components to be engineered in order to complete it. These can be designed by any individual or team on either MOCpages or Flickr. Each component has a number of design requirements; Essential, Desirable and Nice-to-Haves. The design that best meets these will be selected and added to the Supercar. Component No.3: Bodywork (the big one!) Essential Requirements: - Dimensions of the platform followed: https://www.flickr.c...07/11160347656/ - A GT/Sports/2+2 design - Allowance for a minimum of one stud/brick of suspension travel - Allowance for 'swing' of front wheels turning, 2 studs either side of the front wheel). Desirable Requirements: - Allowance for more than one stud/brick of suspension travel - Retention of existing platform perimeter (the black bricks at the edge of the platform and the front and rear) - Capacity for a 2+2 interior - Sufficient front overhang for a PF Medium motor to be placed ahead of the steering rack. - Minimal distance between the wheel arches and the outer edges of the tyres - Low or nil usage of rare or expensive parts - Low weight Nice-to-Haves: - Ability to add additional cooling to the engine may depending upon the chosen engine - Ability to include a variety of door and apatite designs (e.g gull-wing, scissor or suicide doors, as part of component 6) For further information please see the platform dimensions here: https://www.flickr.c...07/11160347656/ Notes: - You are in competition with any other designers or teams also building this component. Only one design will be selected for use in the Supercar, unless a collaboration is deemed to yield the best results. In this case two designers or teams may be requested to work together. - In order for your design to be considered it must meet all of the Essential Requirements. The more Desirable Requirements and Nice-to-Haves that you meet the higher your score will be, and the greater your chance of success. - The winning designer or Team will be credited in the final version of the first ever Crowdsourced Car. - Please note it is highly unlikely that your design will be perfect at the first attempt. Just like the engineering process of a real car please expect the need to refine your design, and for possible changes to the requirements should other components have unforeseen effects on this one. - Drawings and test prototypes are recommended and can be uploaded to the Flickr group here: http://www.flickr.co...ps/2401897@N24/ - In the event of a tie on points between two or more designs, the other Crowdsourcing members not involved in this component may state their preferred choice and why. Good luck! Join here: MOCpages or Flickr
  23. Welcome Ben! To get involved please join either the MOCpages or Flickr groups linked in the post above
