  1. Great to get a proper review from a Technic fan : ) I do wonder whether all of it would be useful to builders who already build suspension, steering, gearboxes and the rest though? Sariel's work is way better than mine, but there is some joy in figuring it out yourself. Except the CVT, that I can't figure out, as it's at Sheepo levels of complexity. Still, Technic for teh win, and anything that allows more Technic to be squeezed into each MOC must mean more win : ) Awesome job Sariel
  2. Thanks guys, looks like it'd be worth the swap. Not being a particularly electrical kind of person I do find it strange how a simple change to the receiver can result in twice the power to the motors though!
  3. Hi all I've read in a few places that there is a 'V2' Power Functions IR Receiver, which can take twice(?) the load? Has anyone started using a V2 to run multiple motors? My truck uses two IR receivers, each running two XL motors (and one running an additional M steering motor). It works pretty well, but occasionally I'm guessing the beam will only hit one receiver for a second (it's an inevitability), which will put pressure on two of the motors to turn the other two as they are all connected into one drive shaft. Is the V2 a worthwhile upgrade? Can it handle four XL motors and a M motor? Does it allow more power to the motors or less? Thanks in advance if anyone can help : ) Ape
  4. They do : ( But yes, they are stronger, although less smooth in their power delivery (as they only have 4 teeth vs the many on most other cogs)
  5. This is incredible! Commented on MOCpages a few days ago, but I've now seen it on both The Lego Car Blog and Brothers Brick
  6. Two 1x2 Cross Axle plates? That seems such a simple solution I'm guessing there's some other reason you can't use them?
  7. It is Beta at the moment - bound to be buggy for a while
  8. Thanks, hadn't heard of 'The Embassy' before
  9. I found this posted on a Lego Blog earlier today and hadn't read anything about it on Eurobricks, so thought I'd steal it and re-post it here. Apologies if it's already been mentioned. It looks pretty cool! LEGO GOES SOCIAL MEDIA WITH REBRICK BETA! Every so often we chuck one of The Lego Car Blog Elves over The LEGO Group’s perimeter wall in an effort to bring you inside stories. We’ve lost a few Elves to the guard dogs this way, but as they’re pretty cheap we think it’s worth it. Anyhow, this week one of the Elves made it back out with some official LEGO Group news and only minor bite marks. Props to him. And the news is pretty exciting… The LEGO Group are in a position that most other businesses would kill for; they are prolific in social media. Unofficial Lego-sharing websites and blogs and been running since before even YouTube, and contribute very much to the success of the company. It’s also fair to say LEGO, like all other large corporations, have been glacially slow in responding to the new way in which consumers communicate. Worse than that even, they’ve often tried to shut down social media outlets that refer to the brand name or imagery. Fine in 2002, not in 2012. But the above stance is changing, and changing fast. The LEGO Group have not only finally recognised the role social media sites play in the success of their brand, they are actively endorsing them (The Lego Car Blog included!). As such they have created their own official social media site called ‘ReBrick‘, which links to the unofficial sites that many of you visit every week. This is a landmark moment for LEGO, and social media more generally. ReBrick is only in ‘Beta’ mode currently, but we believe it’s the beginning of a whole new era in the relationship between The LEGO Group and their consumers. Below is the official ReBrick statement from TLG: We’d like to congratulate LEGO on their pioneering project, and we’d like to encourage you to joinReBrick and get posting (preferably articles from The Lego Car Blog!). You’ll also find us in the ‘Culture’ section of their ‘Brick Links’ page, which we’re rather pleased about!
  10. I think this is a great idea The Brothers Brick (in itself a great blog) has a list, but it'd be nice to have a Technic / Vehicle related one, as I find a lot are very space or castle biased, which I'm not really into that much. I don't know of many, but I check; - MOCpages - Here on Eurobricks - BrickPop (which isn't a Technic blog but sometimes posts good stuff) - The Lego Car Blog (which I think is quite new but is just for vehicles) Sadly they're all I know so I'd really appreciate a full list, maybe that could be sticky-ed on Eurobricks
  11. Well done Scott Much respect to you
  12. Completely agree with this statement. All this chap did is follow instructions like every child does with each Lego set purchase. It's not a MOC. There's no harm in building another's design, or even copying it from pictures, but the people who don't declare that the work is not their own are as good as stealing it.
  13. Sorry to read such crappy news Nico On the upside you've designed an award winning model. Still, the thief is a blatant cheater. I thought this was going to be one of those posts where someone claims their MOC's been stolen and really the MOCs are just a bit similar, but this case is a total and exact copy. Are you contacting the show organizers? - They can revoke the award and contact the winner (who must have registered with them to display 'their' creation/s).
  14. Just thought I'd post this by Sven Bode: http://thelegocarblog.wordpress.com/2012/09/04/two-for-tuesday/ One of the most incredible Model Team vehicles I've seen in a long time!!
  15. Wow, what a brilliant array of functions! Is there a video? It's on The Lego Car Blog at the moment, but they haven't put any video links. Looks like string to me, I assume around a winch. Nice and simple.
  16. Lego is one of many things I do in my spare time, and it's certainly not at the top of the list, so I get by OK : ) I think if someone is obsessed with anything, and spends ALL of their time doing it, they will get mocked in one way or another. The exception would be if it's their profession, and they need to spend that much time on one thing in order to perfect it (e.g an athlete). Otherwise, have a balance of things and all is well : )
  17. This is stunning! Love the silver bricks. It's on http://www.thelegoca...g.wordpress.com at the moment - I thought they just did cars! Seems awesome planes are included
  18. This is beautiful! And with better functions than a set too. Really needs some good pictures
  19. Love this!! Not seen Technic and Steampunk blended together before. Great job
  20. This is the most inspiring post on Eurobricks ever.
  21. If converted to $ they do look pricey but then in the UK I think we pay the same in £ as the US does in $, so our prices are actually quite a bit higher. E.g. the Rock Crawler might be £150, it'll probably be about $150 dollars too. Maybe we should buy our Lego from the states and ship it to Europe...
  22. Great stuff DLuders. The site that you found that 9393 Tractor Review on has posted their estimations today too. A bit cheaper than your table - so I hope they're right! I think that Helicopter could be the best set for the price if it's under £100. Do you think Lego read Eurobricks?! http://thelegocarblog.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/2012-technic-prices/
