One of my fave's too! I can remember almost all the Town pages in the catalogue, as well as all the new sets. I used to look at it for hours as a kid. No pic of the whole thing (too big / set up in the lounge temporarily around furniture and suchlike), but there are a few more pictures I'll add here.

Would love to see your Town recreated too : ) I think the Octan Service Station from 1993 (or mine which was a re-release) was the largest apart from a big Shell parking complex and service station from around 1989. I have a picture of it in an old catalogue, but it was out of production by the time I got into Town.

Points for the commentary. Hans Gruber from the original Die Hard still lives it seems! -

Love this - loads of Technic features and it looks superb. Congrats on The Lego Car Blog too -
I think the restaurant is a re-release from the early '00s when LEGO were strapped for cash - I think I was 3 when the original came out! (1990?) I love the Port - the second set I remember getting after the 1990 Euro Freight railway. I think there was a slightly larger red one from the same year too. Not in the photos here, but on Flickr, is the 1996 Shuttle Launch too - perfect for any small town! Woah!! So much colour!! Lol, true. Mostly it's between about 1992 and 2002, although a handful is later, and quite a bit is second-hand from earlier (I got good cheap presents as a kid!). I have every catalogue from 1984 to 2004, save for 1991 and 1993, so I tried to make my Town look as much like pictures in them as possible

Got my Town out of the loft the other day, thought some of the pictures might bring back fond memories of the way Town used to be All the pics are on http://www.flickr.co...157632814264062 and a description (plus all the pictures) can be found on MOCpages here http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/354405

Just voted 'nothing', saw the results and realised my vote can probably be discounted (sorry!). By that I mean I wouldn't ever build someone else's creation (I might pinch techniques etc., but I can do that from the pictures). However, whilst I don't see the point of building someone else's model, I do see that plenty of people love to build others' creations, and if I were one of them I wouldn't expect the instructions to always be free. As such, maybe the 'nothing' option can be discounted, as it's a different meaning to 'free'.

Lego Technic 2h 2013
Ape Fight replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Lego Car Blog has posted a preview of the crane and Recovery Truck/Wrecker http://thelegocarblog.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/start-saving/ They say £150 and £100 - is the Truck really going to cost that much?! They look awesome in the photos though : )- 902 replies

I thought this picture might interest a few Eurobricks truck builders. From left to right; Scuderia Ferrari (Ape_Fight), Ecurie Ecosse (TechnicNick), JPS Lotus (DeTomaso77), Alan Mann Ford (MortalSwordsman), Salzburg Porsche (DeTomaso77) Other MOCs in this group can be found here.

Scammell Crusader Wrecker
Ape Fight replied to Makorol's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great to see this on Eurobricks. It was on http://www.thelegocarblog.wordpress.com last week by the way. -
Hmm. All my Lego was in the loft for a number of years, and before that as a kid it was all over my floor (in direct sunlight for about 8 years). The discolouration I saw on a few pieces seemed as much to do with air exposure and the slight variances in the manufacture as it did sunlight. For example, a 4 stud long 'white' plate may have gone beige on two studs if those were exposed, and remain pristine on the other four hidden studs, but its counterpart on the other side of the model didn't go beige at all. For me, more importantly than any of this, is that I had great fun with my Lego, and on the occasions where I still buy it, I continue to. I leave my pieces in sunlight, in a freezing/boiling loft, chuck the boxes away etc., but most of all, I enjoy it. That's why it was made. I expect I might incur the wrath of collectors on here, but surely Lego is for playing with, not sealing away in an airtight container and worrying if a bit of it might go slightly yellow? But hey, we're all free to do as we please with our own bricks. Mine however, are going to get used : )

How flexible are your cars?
Ape Fight replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I over-engineer my MOCs big time (not a good thing), but this does mean they don't twist/flex, whether studded or studless. My earlier creations used to, but the more big creations I've built the more solid they've become; now they're basically one solid beam. Looking at your chassis (which looks great by the way), there are a few places where there's only 2 beams running longitudinally. This isn't enough to stop twist. Find a way to add another two and the flex will all but disappear. -
Yuk! Sorry, but whilst this looks cool, and I were 6 I'd love it, it's barely LEGO. Why not just buy a £4 metal/plastic model of a 458 instead?

Toy plastic "Encapsulation" Services.... a Rip-Off....
Ape Fight replied to LEGO Historian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What?!... Just... what?!! If I were a millionaire I'd want to buy these 'rare unopened' sets, rip open the boxes and build the damn things, then stick the video on YouTube so collectors can stare aghast. I really don't understand why people value sealed boxes - it's like putting seat covers in your car - who are your protecting them for?? P.S It'd look a little something like this. Start at 6 minutes in, enjoy!! -
Flashing Lights
Ape Fight replied to Tacker's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd use a PF Motor attached to a PF Switch, kinda like LEGO use for generating pneumatic pressure on the Unimog. Turn the motor on, it flicks the switch back and forth, turning the lights on and off -
So awesome. Clever using sideways curved rails for the loop too.
