  1. I knew how the VIP worked when I signed up, but what confused me was the amount of points going to my account after using a some during a purchase. Apart from a glitched delay that lasted a few days, I found out you are not credited VIP points for sets for the value of points you use to purchase set (i.e. set cost: $35 with 100pts used = -$5, you only receive 30pts for set). That bit of info must me hidden somewhere in the fine print. Since then I've used VIP points again, and everything has run smoothly VIP is simple. Every dollar spent on a set = 1 point. So, $1=1pt. 20 VIP pts = $1USD set; 100pts = $5. When LEGO offers double pts, it obviously double points for sets purchased. I read somewhere on here, a long time ago, that points are good for around two years. I don't know this as a fact, but I haven't kept points much later than a year. If you buy the majority of LEGO through one of their stores or S@H, I would recommend signing up! You also get nice little bonuses, like for Valentines, we received a chrome red minifig key chain
  2. That was quite funny and has great animation! Very well done
  3. I want that truck! This is probably my favorite LIT set yet. These are available only to those who visit the LEGO factory in Denmark?
  4. Meh, you don't need those anyway... But more seriously, it sounds like your best and easiest option would be to install the largest shelves, that still look good. A quick measurement, I took a 32x32 + 16x16 + a train car (8W) = 58 studs is equal to 17.5" so theres that
  5. I don't know how you'd feel about this, but I would have even considered cutting part of the wall out, more or less making a window for the modulars to sit on. While still keeping parts of the the wall up, turning them into a tunnel. It may be a bit extreme and would be a little bit of work, completely reversible if you ever move, but really neat IMHO
  6. Ah, I see now, I thought the wall you would go through would divide the shelves west/east as opposed to what you have. That is going to be tricky. You would have to heavily modify the modulars to fit in between wall and track, especially if adding a road. Is replacing the shelf for a wider one out of the question?
  7. Any chance that you could post some pics of what you have, where it's going, and available space?
  8. Are you making an oval track layout or is the train going to turn around at each end, keeping all the track in front of the modulars? I hope you can visualize what I mean, it's a little difficult for me to explain without a picture
  9. I've seen a few track layouts that pass through walls. Makes a great tunnel. Heck, I'd do it myself, for sh*ts and giggles, if I had an available wall! I am having trouble finding links at the moment (slow internet), but I'll keep looking. As for running a train behind your modulars, granted they aren't custom 8W trains, you could really just leave the 8 studs needed for the rail ties to fit. Putting the modular backs right against the tracks for maximum space available, you should have plenty of space for a road and other details in the leftover 48 or so studs. Moc-up half a circle of rail and stick in a modular, or just build a foot print of a modular, on the floor, for a test fit, and see what space you have left over
  10. That and it might have trouble navigating turns with the current track radius. And switch points, forget about it
  11. Beautiful church kris kelvin! Love the hamster, but the brick work is amazing. I'm sure that took a lot of time. The level of detail throughout the MOC is very inspiring, as I'm sure you'll hear over and over! I only wish I had this kind of creativity, excellent work
  12. I love the new coast guard sets but, man were getting a lot of sharks... Three in one set alone?? Is that necessary? Good thing is the sets are also flush with minifigs
  13. I could only dream of TLG releasing a Big Boy, but a large steamer like the Challenger would be great as well
  14. Beautiful MOC DarthPineapple! It's scale looks perfect and detailed very well. It's a shame neither of the real ones are around for display. They are quite impressive on size alone
  15. The 10214 Tower Bridge has been here since October 2010, in U.S./U.K, and May 2011 in Canada. It probably be leaving in the next couple months
  16. After going in my parts bin to connect bricks to save space in the drawers, I found many of my yellow 1x1 bricks, that were already connected, cracked. They look like they are of the newer variety, but I'm not sure exactly how old, or what set they are from. Also some of the 1x1 white bricks on my 7639 Camper, from 2009, have also cracked
  17. Could you insulate the shed? It shouldn't cost you too much if you're handy with a hammer
  18. I enjoy looking at small versions of cities. Whether it be model train layouts or LEGO cities. LEGO just happens to be the medium I have from childhood. It has just enough detail, variety of sets, price, and ease of build to keep me interested. I couldn't take the time and patience to construct a detailed HO scale city. I would want much attention to detail, but that comes at very heavy price in time, and probably money. Plus, I really like the fact that if I wanted to stage a wreck or damage to a building, it wouldn't permanently disfigure the set
  19. Excellent tour bus wooootles! Love the colors chosen for the stripes
  20. I finally got around to taking a few photos. They are just a couple quick shots for this contest and are sub-par of my sub-par camera skills. I call this MOC the Red Jacket Diesel Locomotive and a Passenger Wagon to go with my 10183 Hobby Train. Both are made of leftover parts from 10183. The engine is 85% comprised and the wagon 99%. Both were built during the summer of 2011. Once I located them, I decided to rebuild part of the diesel since my part inventory now had the correct colored pieces. I am pretty pleased with it's turn out. Neither are based on any specific engine or wagon. I took a little inspiration from the Super Chief, for the front, wanting something a little more streamlined. If anyone can point me to an actual engine like this, if it even exists, I'd be interested to see. Next is the passenger wagon for the Hobby Train. It's a combo passenger/cargo wagon, also not based on anything specific. Just your run of the mill car. And both together: Thanks for looking!
  21. I would add the Pet Shop. I feel it fits in better with the theme of "old residential style street", (need better word) style. The Cinema is too flashy, the Town Hall is much larger and more suited to be free standing, and the Fire Brigade, while very close too the same style, is still not something you'd want to live next to... quite noisy when a fire breaks out. Personally, I'd even consider putting the Grand Emporium elsewhere. Then again, thats my way of thinking. Looking forward to see your studio
  22. Does this or this help any?
  23. Sorry had to fix the link, above, for the other black door. The interior looks nice and spacious. Are you starting to collect pieces to brick build?
  24. Why would the put the parking places opposite, like this // , if the lane to pull in is on the other side of the road? You have to cut across a lane of traffic to pull in, or back out. Seems like a minor detail over looked? All they had to do was change the the angle from // to \\
  25. Fantastic job HenrikLego! The loco is spot on and the you've detailed the rolling stock and track side structures superbly. Very well done
