New Ship Classes - The Transition
Mesabi replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hey Ya'll, I'm a little late to this discussion, and I'm kinda bumping an oldish topic, but I feel like I need to add my 2 cents. I'm not really a fan, for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Half of the classes are combat focused. Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 2 120 12 3 4 2 1 0 2 12 Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 3 200 15 3 6 2 2 0 2 15 Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 5 420 21 5 3 4 4 0 5 21 Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 7 700 27 4 2 8 6 0 7 27 Class Cost Stat Points Range Maneuver Firepower Crew Cargo Hull Sum (1-6) (1-6) (0-12) (0-12) (0-15) (0-12) 8 900 30 4 2 9 7 0 8 30 More than half of the classes are completely useless for trading. This wouldn't be a problem if combat were a major part of the MCRA, but it's really not for us imperial powers. I mean what am I supposed to do, hit sea rats? To quote some of my fellows. So, my options for trading is to just have class 4 or 6 ships, and those aren't even very good, because the Class 4 has a cargo value of 1. I seriously don't care about the maintenance costs, but I'd like to be able to have ships I can use for trading, rather than combat. -
Name: Mesabi Landing Ownership: Wayfarer Trade Corporation, via The Crown of Corrington Location: Argentia, East Prio Sea Map: Cascadia by Ayrlego, on Flickr Mayor: Count Mesabi Trade Value: 62 Town Bank: 25 Who can own property in Mesabi Landing: Anyone Who can freebuild in Mesabi Landing: Anyone Description: After the whole Nova Malto incident, The Corrington Colonial Council decided to do something to about the troublesome Captain Mesabi. The solution was simple, send him to a faraway island. Isle 14, AKA Keep-Yer-Boots-On, AKA Argentia, was decidedly the right place. Littered with waste from passing ships, cacti, crabs with hats, and mysterious plants, Argentia is perhaps the most depressing of the Islands of the Prio Sea, and a perfect place to keep Mesabi from causing more trouble. Undeterred, Captain Mesabi established a settlement on the barren isle, naming it after himself. Newly ennobled, He seeks to make the settlement the greatest in the Prio seas, at all costs. BoBS peace talks by North White, on Flickr Count Mesabi and Darby walked back into the tent where negotiations had been set up. "Before we begin, I must say, Captain Bowditch can really hold his liquor better than I" Montoya Rolled his eyes. BoBS peace talks by North White, on Flickr "I mean seriously, I would have been here yesterday to keep you guys from ruining negotiations, but I was really a mess. Like, whoever gets the fort after this is going to need some cleaners. We did our best to get out the vomit, but I think it seeped into the floorboards." Governor Guilder groaned "So what are we doing, here, I was told I'm getting paid for something? Throw me out a number and I'll see where it lands." ________________________________________ OOC: Thank you so much for the title of Count! I'll do a build for it when I get a chance, but that won't be until at least tonight.

Been debated to death here:
-
Very nice build Ayrlego. But the fact that there's only one picture from one angle makes me question if that house has four walls. Regardless, the build quality makes up for it.
-
Neat little build, gedren. I gotta say though, you could work on picture quality? It's a bit blurry.

[SR - FB 4 June 17] The Rogers Inn
Mesabi replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like your little Bar, Thaum. The skull is a nice touch. I like your cast of characters too. -
I've got to agree with Captain Wolf here, your ship is a little short. Great colours, great sails, but just a tad bit short.

[SR-FB 12] Shipwreck Bay (medium fort)
Mesabi replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build, Jacob. Really, this trumps most of the forts people have made in terms of creativity. All around, I like it. -
Cutting it a bit close to the wire, aren't we now Josh Still, very nice build, I like what you did with the floor.
-
Excellent Build Spock! Fantastic use of the ninja turtle shells, and heads! Kinda pushing it to the wire for freebuilds though
-
Beautiful ship Faladrin, I especially like how you used the antique windows for the captain's cabin. Your detailing is especially good. Let's hope we don't go to war so I don't have to blow it up

So how's MCRA II coming? It's been awhile since I heard anything about it. And will it contain the launch of character skill trees? I'm really excited for that to launch. Oh, and may I suggest something? Can Royal property footprints be lowered to 96x96? That way a builder could just use 4 48x48 baseplates. Additionally, have you guys considered corporate warfare? I really think it could add some fun to the game if trade corporations could go to war with each other, without dragging nations into it. I'd love to have my WTC ships take out some of MAESTRO's. Yeah, I know I'd lose, I have like 4 ships, but it'd give me more targets to hunt rather than sea rats, as the new ship focus seems to be more combat focused, rather than cargo focused.

"He's just being grumpy. The WTC would be an excellent overlord for Nova Malto. And besides, wouldn't you like a solution that the crown of Corrington doesn't support?" asked Captain Mesabi

"Oh so you're just ignoring me now? Asked Captain Mesabi. "Very mature. The Governor of Eslandola is ignoring little WTC because it's not important enough!" A messenger ran in from the side. Peace talks by North White, on Flickr "Mr Montoya! Crabs! Invasion! Bootstrap!" Montoya got up and walked to the messenger. "There comes word of an invasion by Eslandola on Isle 14!" Peace talks by North White, on Flickr Meanwhile Captain Mesabi continued his plea. "Give me control of the city, you have like 5 on the island, you don't need this one!"

"My father taught me something, Fortune favors the bold. So, you are not going to pay me, or honor my request, or even do the thing I invited you here to do! Have you even checked for the saboteur? You call yourselves men of honor, and yet you ignore an honorable man like myself." Darby chimed in "Perhaps we should listen to him... He is the governor of Eslandola!" Captain Mesabi shook his head. "I think you know what is fair. Give control of the town to me, and this all goes away. Think you could do that? Limpy?"

Peace talks by North White, on Flickr As negotiations continued, two figures entered. Peace talks by North White, on Flickr "Well if it isn't a pack of diplomats, deciding the fate of Nova Malto without the WTC. Have you no shame?" Captain Mesabi said, Montoya glared at him, Gov. Guilder Glared at him. In fact, everyone was glaring at him "I'm going to make one thing clear here. We have demands to. The WTC invested significant resources in this operation, so if you're kicking out Corrington, we expect to be payed." Montoya crumpled a piece of paper in his fist. "That is, if you kick us out, I propose a solution. Let WTC assume control of the city. For one, we need to hunt down that saboteur, and secondly, we're barely even a part of Corrington. We don't even pay taxes!" A seagull squawked overhead Peace talks by North White, on Flickr "And we would be willing to pay tribute to Eslandola for the settlement. You Greenies like money, don't you?" Monterezzil put a hand on his sword. A Eslandolan Soldier cocked his rifle. "But regardless of what happens, we're not leaving until the saboteur is caught. I'm going to make that clear." (Your move @Bregir & @Capt Wolf )

Very very nice build. I'd love to see the whole ship, just the bow is spectacular though. -
[SR - FB 3 June 17] Nova Malto Party
Mesabi replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build Thaum, I think your version of the ship is nicer than mine -
Captain Mesabi and Darby tyler set out on horse towards the peace talks. Peace talks by North White, on Flickr "Okay, are you sure this is a good idea? I mean it's not like we're an official representative of Corrington, or have any sort of juristiction. Maybe we should listen to Monotoya, he seems to know what he's doing." Said Darby "Of course it's a good idea, Monotoya loves me! Besides, we're a massive part of this, WTC built a fort, and fixed that hotel, and the wall, and we had a ship blow up. Hell it was me who named Nova Malto. We need to be at those talks." Replied Captain Mesabi "But what about that letter he sent you saying: 'Ok, now I am going to have to stop you there! You simply have to accept that the settlements status will be decided by official negotiations, so you cannot take it over. Our aims for these negotiations should be clear in the Corrington official message network. If you disagree, discuss them there. But I will need you to calm down and let things go their natural course.'" Asked Darby "Well obviously I'm ignoring him. Besides, we need to catch the saboteur! He could be at the totally be at the meeting! I mean where else could he be?" Peace talks by North White, on Flickr "Fine, but why can't we take two horses?" Asked Darby "Well we were going to, but I kinda had the chef at the fort serve your horse as dinner last night." Replied Captain Mesabi "Why!?! We had plenty of food that wasn't horse!" Darby yelled "Well obviously, I was hungry for horses." Replied Captain Mesabi "We have like 10 other horses!" Yelled Darby "Pipe down, we have peace talks to ruin, I mean participate in." The gate swung open and they rode out, past the Eslandolan soldiers camped out by the gate. Peace talks by North White, on Flickr
