Oh, that is indeed pretty cool overall. I have never really cared that much for attractions, but I think some of these would even now be enjoyable for me , especially that 4D ride! But imagine how freaking amazing it must be for all the young Ninjago fans to walk around in the real Ninjago monastery! Really a smart move from the theme park R&D branch.

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Exetrius replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow, this is an interesting topic, glad that I found it! I skimmed through the whole discussion and saw a lot of great ideas. Some things I read that I quite like are Neo-Classic Space, a steampunk theme and many (uncommon) historic genres. Also, plenty of licenses are mentioned, a lot of which sound really cool to get, but I prefer a original Lego theme over a licensed Lego theme. I think that Lego already has so many licenses, on verge of having too many, imo. But there is room for at least one other license, someone suggested it already: Lego Universe. It would be so awesome! (full opinion in this topic). Something that I would absolutely adore is a hardcore fantasy theme (as Lind Whisperer mentioned in the beginning of this topic): something that incorporates all the good stuff from popular (MMO)RPGs, fantasy/supernatural/mythology genre movies and anime, but as a original theme. That includes: Tons of awesome new minifig armour and weapons, preferably bulky, extravagant, magical. Who wouldn't like to have some kind of armour with a polarizing finish that makes it look enchanted? A range of new moulded creatures (articulated!), such as lions, elephants, phoenixes, trolls, minotaurs, etc... you name it! New yellow elves, because many of us have been waiting for variation! Cool new parts that represent magic. Think of magic circles on the ground or spells that are fired out of the caster's hand/staff. Something that minifigs can hold in their hand properly, instead of a 4x4 dish or whatever. It will make building and playing magical scenes it a lot easier, especially for kids. Uncommon minifig styles: ancient scandinavian, greek mythology, ancient middle-eastern, south-american, ancient Japanese. Not in a stereotypical way, but in a fantasy-enhanced way. So yeah... Hardcore. Fantasy. Something that would be great too imo, is a manga/anime minifigure style, similar to (but better than) Exo-Force. Manga and anime are both loved and hated, so making a theme incorporating this style is risky. Instead of making licensed sets from all kinds of anime (with all the cool characters), it is probably safer to make a few different parts packs. These packs would be similar to a concept that Lego has used in the past with Bionicle: a bunch of masks in a blind bag or bin, a few different designs, a lot of possible colours per design. A quick search on Google gives some fantastic examples of it's collectablility. Using the 'Bionicle pack'-concept, it is possible to create hundreds of characters, without a single license! I tried to come up with a few iconic, yet generic, manga/anime hair designs. I'm not a graphical designer so it may look crappy : Anime inpired Lego hair pieces by Exetrius, on Flickr Imagine these in the colours of the Lego spectrum, like Earth Blue, Bright Green, Dark Red, Black, White, Reddish Brown, Bright Pink, Medium Azure, etc.... The heads should have different styles of eyes (oval eyes, 'sharp' eyes, big and small eyes) in different colours. All heads double-sided, male and female, different expressions (happy, sad, angry, blushing). I think that would be fantastic! So yeah, this is what kind of themes I would really love to see- 451 replies

CUSTOM: LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series "Universe"
Exetrius replied to Dorayaki's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
There I am again, revisiting this topic! Sorry in advance for straying off-topic! I am seriously considering to do a LU Ideas project. I should find time (and perseverence) for that in the coming holidays. I have a rough idea for a play&display set, the hard part is to make compromises in terms of amount of pieces, detail and minifigs. The biggest problem, however, is that that Lego ideas does not allow the use of new moulds. Some things that I can think of: - A well-designed, play&display set, which represents several locations of the game and each faction, with printed and recoloured bricks and minifig parts. This applies in any case. - Options: No new moulds, be satisfied the accurate prints, useful recolours and with recognition of the fanbase.* Ignore the rule. Use of (obviously quite some) new moulds.** Same as option 1, but incorporate a link to a poll in the project's description. Just a few questions that will give an indication of how great the additional value is of new moulds and an estimation of the size target audience.*** - A promotional campaign across Lego news sites and social media. This is needed in any case (to some extent). * Conforms entirely with the system, but capturing the exact look of the minifigs will be impossible, therefore, the project won't be that successful, presumably. ** Probably the worst option, though it might work if the project gets a massive support from the start. *** Sort of combines the best of both. If (big if!) a LU set with no new molds makes it through the review stage and turns out to be a big hit, it might even open up possibilities for a few sets with new moulds. I know this isn't a very good comparison, but Lego Minecraft, Ghost Busters and BTTF all get or have gotten new moulds, so you know... a man can dream...- 17 replies

Hmm, interesting discovery, thanks for sharing Lyichir! The inclusion of a ghost horse would have made that set even more awesome, but it would probably have some consequences for the price-point...

Husbandry Challenge: If you pay peanuts...
Exetrius replied to Jorrith's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great build! Original story, very Nocty atmosphere, great execution of your ideas Some criticism: it bears quite much resemblance to the build that inspired you for this build, though I like yours better. Wh After an objective observation (before reading the story), I thought this to be yet another take on the 'farm'-concept. Objectively, I think it's not a original entry, but with the back story taken into account, I think you gave it a nice, original twist. Oh, and eh... Hail Nocturnus! -
A sight to behold! Awesome

Signs from everywhere, I feel it, signs that Nocturnus is on the rise... Something profound stirs in these Darklands... Edit: Ooc: It is great to see so many Nocty entries in the Historica Husbandry challenge, great work guys! -
Husbandry Challenge: Hearts and Minds
Exetrius replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Lovely house! I think you succeeded quite well with the roof, with the half-parabolic shape Nicely detailed irregular base and a good, fitting scene going on. Great to see yet another good Nocty entry, hail Nocturnus! Well, I'd say half-raw dragon meat, ripped and cut off from the body on site, should live up to those expectations -
Whoah! These are absolutely awesome! Great details, very true to the original colours and concept, yet so original and unique! Congratz and brick on!
-
Great cave, getting tighter towards the end and with plant roots from the ceiling scene on top is nice too!
-
Nice build, educational too Cute cottage with lovely detailing. The shots of the process add to it and make it a great entry. I'm not sure about the water, I think it is out of sync with the rural setting, though it is executed nicely.
-
The water(side) looks very nice, interesting techniques! The rest of the landscape is nice too, the path is integrated well, the flowers and scattered rock make it look very natural. The mill has a detailed, sturdy wall, a welcome approach with all the sketchy, highly greebled ones that are quite popular. Only one point of criticisme: the wings have about the right proportions, but are not made of wood entirely, sails make the wings go round. Good entry nonetheless

One choice? No doubt, for me it's the Elf! The Space Marine comes really close, though. Series 7 was just amazing... Apart from him, the Aztec Warrior, Evil Knight, Ocean King, ... well almost every fig in that series was great!
-
Normally, I would start with the build, but man... what an intriguing, well written story! I imagine it must have taken several hours to write and match up with the builds. I really enjoyed reading this Now then, the build. The (choice of) terrain is great! It looks nice and realistic and is precisely what you were going for in the story (bouldered foothills), nothing more to remark I think. What I really appreciate is that you have illustrated your story with tons of action shots, it makes it all the more a clear and lively scene

Oh, monsters sounds a lot better! I look forward to seeing them -
Is this yours, or did you just wanted to share it with us? Nevertheless, the video blowed my mind!

There are a lot of things that I can say about this (how I don't agree, yet how your opinion is very well substantiated), but instead I will just ask: is there a rumor about manga/anime styling for this theme? That picture actually makes a good point: if this theme were to make no sense at all, but it has some cool new features, I would already be pleased. Fingers crossed for cool new swords, figs or animals!

[WIP] Hideout for the vampire hunters
Exetrius replied to castor-troy's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Oh man, please keep up this awesome work! -
Fun bit of news Robert, thanks for sharing! Maybe I can now finally become the real green ninja, in an official costume . Seriously though, I am curious what ranges and figures they will be covering. Ninjago and Star Wars are mega popular, so I expect some ninja and a Lord Vader costume. I also wonder if these costumes will be available at Shop@Home. EDIT: Oh look at this: http://www.disguise.com/brands/shadow-ninjas-uprising Rip-offs!

Thanks guys, once again, for the warm comments, and Umbra, I'll keep that name in mind

Wow Umbra, first of all: Arcturin is a great name, looks awesome too! Your description of Vacuinan sparkles my imagination, I'd love to see (or even make) a build of it. It reminders me of the underground desert villages in real life and of the city Onokoro (Bionicle Mask of Light: The Movie). -
Much NPU all over the place, he looks less stoned with the new mixel eyes, good improvement I think. The painting is a very nice touch
