  1. Catching up on these year's parts, I made a wish list last week, and ordered yesterday. Maybe the list could (still) be useful to you. Ignore the yellow parts (and other more common stuff), I need them for a future build. I'll be placing a separate order for them soon, and that while the first was already around 60 euros... Do you guys know of any other interesting CMF exclusive parts, such as the butterbeer cup?
  2. I'll echo what the others said: love those yellow bricks on the ground as fallen leafs! You also got the most effect out of it with the hill you made, love the slopes you created! Architecturally solid and geographically stunning work!
  3. My build is progressing as well, but boy it's almost half May... I better start speeding up!
  4. Just did a quick search-by-word sampling in the comment section of the announcement. I did not look at all comments, but a fair number. "Castle" was mentioned ~70 times, The Office and Chitty ~30 times, Metroid ~25 times, and everything else was below 20. Even with the 3-in-1 Creator castle, I still think there are still loads of AFOLs out there willing to spend big money on an even larger and (much) more detailed castle set, but the big question is if LEGO will see it that way too. I really don't know about those other empirically popular projects. I personally see Tutankhamen as very appealing project, clearly it's own unique thing, yet in line with trends such as growing quantities of 'premium' parts per set, and the bustes collection. However, very few are talking about that one, so again we'll have to see. Just some random observations: the new smaller road plate appears in azure in the City wildlife sets, so the Bike Lanes project could soon be built in real life. Also, remember the Aquarium project from a while back, which many people here saw as a likely candidate to become a set? The Creator 3-in-1 aquarium must have prevented that one, or partly.
  5. Unseen prototype footage!! Get it here, while it's hot! If you were hesitation, planning, contemplating, or procrastinating to support my project, I urge you to make up your mind quickly: just over 20 days left until the milestone deadline! While you're here though, I hope you enjoy this little insight into the development of the Forbidden Valley submodel. C&C appreciated! If you want to know more about the background and current status of the project, visit the update page. Cheers!
  6. Sure is. :) The face on the ship: https://cdn-eu.anidb.net/images/main/16087.jpg As well as the face on Zane's mech's torso: But there's no denying he mixed Bionicle in that sketch.
  7. Animals are entering the Lego System as if it's the Cambrian Explosion! ;) The city theme is going wild! Haha, get it? Enough joking, let's see what we got: Elephant! Elephant young Male lion (tan with brown manes) Male lion (white with tan manes) Lion cub (tan) Lion cub (white) Small monkey (dark tan with tan face) Small monkey (tan with dbg face) Large snake (a recolour of the HP snake?) Vulture (recolour of the bald eagle?) Sheep!! Ray (recolour in the ninjago wave) Furthermore, new brickbuilt creatures with molded parts: Cerberus (HP) Basilisk (HP) Jungle dragon, water dragon, fire dragon, Overlord dragon (Ninjago) I'm not really keeping count of the animals in the minidoll lines, but Disney: Raya The Last Dragon set feature multiple new animals too!
  8. Well, the previously released red wings were a bit small, these new ones are more impressive. Now you can diversify your army because both pieces come in red, or even do scenes with juvenile vs adult demons/dragons. Also, I very much welcome that female vampire head!
  9. Thanks guys! Haha, yeah minifigs are pretty horribly proportioned for scaled builds, aren't they? Thanks, and good suggestion! Thank you, I really appreciate it!
  10. Guys, is it really that hard to keep show discussion in the show discussion thread?? Sorry, but I'm here to read the set discussion.
  11. Hi! This is my first post in the Trains sub-forum (comments aside). I'm here to share my latest MOC: the Epic Subway Saxophone Battle! One warning, though: this was built as a lively interior first, and a train second. I'll go further into the specifics of that later, but first let's see the build. At times, pretty weird and amazing things happen on the subway. With many different people on the move for many different reasons, briefly sharing the same space, it's a game of chance until the next encounter between strangers leading to an unexpected scene! I was inspired to build this after watching the 2013 viral video "Two Total Strangers Have Saxophone Battle On NYC Subway Train". I built it as an entry to the IDEAS LEGO House contest, category "Minifigure". The premise of this category was to create a fun or whacky minifigure vignette, no larger than 64x32 studs. I built two subway cars with minus one wall and the roof, to show the interior. The base of the build measures 62x10 studs, the cars are built on a 29x10 studs platform wide. Since the 8x16 straight train tracks have a slight overhang, I couldn't use four of them for this entry (maybe diagonal). Three, on the other hand, would be too short. Another issue I had with these is that they were a bit warped, making the cars look a bit wonky. I solved both problems by using 15 8x4 flexible rail pieces. As for the proportions and lay-out... I have taken a lot of uneducated decisions here.😬 The cockpit and exterior were built 'freestyle'. And though I am quite sure that a standard passenger car has doors both front and back, I didn't have parts to make four sets of doors. The doors open and look pretty good from the inside in my opinion, though they don't follow the curved profile of the exterior. For the interior, I looked at the NYC subway for inspiration: And here is the video: Final shot: That's it, let me know what you think of it! Do you like what you see, or does it pain your eyes as a train fan? Feel free to call me out on bad or inaccurate design choices... Thanks for viewing!
  12. As Samurai X, during ToE and Posession: @Kim-Kwang-Seok I personally don't mind the fluidity of her colour scheme, as long as the designs are nice.
  13. Another very nice one! Where are those bubble tiles from?
  14. I love water spirit Nya! Striking, gorgeous! This figure really blew me out of the water! (pun intended, but very much true). Not sure if the hair is trans blue or opalescent trans blue, but I love it either way! The azure never really did it for me, the dark blue is far superior imo. Also very happy with the recoloured ghost tail, it's always good to get these special pieces in different colours, and it adds to the whole flow of this fig. Very much looking forward to getting her!
  15. I have tried building anime characters for years, but these are my best attempts yet! Anime characters Enji Todoroki (Endeavor) - My Hero Academia Mikasa Ackerman - Attack on Titan Alphonse Elric - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Kaneki Ken - Tokyo Ghoul Escanor - Seven Deadly Sins Light Yagami - Death Note Mordred Pendragon - Fate/Apocrypha To many more anime figs, cheers!
  16. Smells like excitement in here! I'd like to say that I'll cook up something, but I still have a lot of business in Nocty to attend to... so I's a maybe for now.
  17. It's a fantastic set, one of my favourites! Great shaping, nice suspension, some NPU, great cockpit, Nelson and an exclusive and very unique version of Cole. Conclusively: this is an all-out yes! I even made a mini version of it :
  18. Man, you should have pursued that writing career, this is gold
  19. What can we expect from the Bricklink designer programme as far as recoloured parts, or prints are concerned? I'm really glad the Bionicle project got a second chance, but without prints it's not going to be the same... Also, my new project was finally approved this morning! Thanks for getting me through the approval process, @Alexandrina especially, I really needed it! Behold: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a6ded12f-0703-4eaa-8e30-3b7739473a0f
  20. @Alexandrina Thank you so much for all your thoughtful advice, this will be super helpful, especially with rewriting the text! As far as resubmitting with the same number of minifigs is concerned, I admit that I can be dense (and certainly stubborn), but the phrase in bold is ambiguous to me: In my eyes: yes, it contains many minifigs (doesn't say too many); no, I'm not suggesting a minifigure series. But what do they even mean with "collectible minifigures"? A) Figs in blind bags? B) Figs you want to collect? C) Figs that you really want to have? D) Figs with unique or archetypical design and dedicated accessories? E) Figs that are the draw and focal point of a set? A, B and C seem very unlikely to me. I considered D a possibility, but didn't want to throw out my minfigure designs. I hoped E would be the case, so I tried to resolve it by putting less focus on figs and especially their accessories visually (by removing that overview shot). Furthermore, I no longer mentioned the number of them in my product description (I initially did), and instead pointed out the roles they fulfill, to underline the meaning they have to the set. Conclusively, the phrase in bold seems to be about quantity, and content/quality, and moreover contains parts that are true and parts that aren't true for my project. Very much mixed signals to me. If they would just tell me "please reduce the number of minifigs", I would have done that for sure, even if that feels disproportionately strict with regards to other projects. I'll do what I can, thanks!
  21. My latest project submission was returned for resubmission agian, yay! I didn't have high hopes, since I thought my pics might be interpreted as blurry, but the mods saw different flaws. My project description is in the spoiler, the feedback in the quote: So what I gather is that leaving out the overview shot of the figs and accessories (present in my initial submission) wasn't enough. Pity. Maybe it was a naive to hope that they wouldn't add up the number of figures between the shots. I'm still very much opposed to the idea that 7 figures is too much for a 1700-piece set, so perhaps I could dumb down on printing, dual molded arms and hairpieces, to make them less appealing, less collectible. Another thing: just thought I'd give some examples of towers people are familiar with, but mentioning named, real-world things seems to be not-done? The world of licenses and IPs is one of many mysteries, to me... Lastly, my text is too short?! I'm simply baffled. I mean, take this project's text, for example. What does it have that mine doesn't? To the best of my judgement, my description ticks all the content requirement boxes. Thanks in advance, my friends.
  22. The Borg Tower is an imposing and fascinating piece of architecture, no doubt daunting to construct, but you have absolutely done it justice! Congratulations on this build! One suggestion if I may, perhaps you could add some nanofigs to the outside of the building, like on the sky deck. They seem to be fairly to-scale, based on my own experience.
