All these previously released lighthouses were in the range of $50-70, though. I think they'll make it into a detailed $200 minifigure scale set, fitting in with the Old Fishing Store, Tree house and Medieval Blacksmith.

@Judge of the Wastelands Welcome back! I must admit that I don't remember which guild you were in... Btw, we also have a GoH Discord server. There's a bit more WIP talk and general chat there.

CDC1 Tower: Ssilyrrlith's Retreat - [NCW] Feathers of Fate
Exetrius replied to Exetrius's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for the high praise, Garmadon! A lot of the sections you mention were fun and/or rewarding to do, but hearing the overall thing is enjoyed as a great Nocty build... feels extra good!- 20 replies

Prenmôr is back, and better than ever! Comparing this build to Prenmôr Forge, you can really see your progression as a builder! I find those dormer windows excellent! Seamless integration, great placement and spacing, and they complement the look and feel of the black double cheese slopes so well! Also, just the right amount of birds and 'growth' to avoid monotony. Nice canopy and decorated pillars, windows with inset (nicely in grey!) and that cups and barrel decoration above the door is just fantastic! I'm impressed with the functional, well-thought-out, and presentable the interior, and I really enjoyed the guided tour! Love the malt mixture heater in the corner, great use of modern pieces! Looking forward to your next build!

CDC1 Tower: Mitgardian Watchtower of Treacleheim
Exetrius replied to MKJoshA's topic in Guilds of Historica
There are a number of things that I like here, but also some things that could be better imo. I like practically the whole lower cliff part. Good use of that newer 1x3 slope piece to create a soft and thick pack of snow following the cliff's contours! The icicles are a nice touch! Nice foliage, and good efforts to have it rooted in soil instead of bare rock. I like how there is a cut-out in the rock face, but I personally wouldn't have plugged it with a tower. Instead, I think it would be more logical to put the tower on the higher ground, on one of the sides of it. The tower itself is a bit smooth for my taste, but I like the beacon! Its supporting arch is a bit thin, though.. Finally, I'll echo that it would have been nice to see the soldiers aiming for the invaders. -

Hey, thanks a lot! I did my best to add the fantasy flavour to flora and fauna, to differentiate it further from the common Kali or Middle East desert setting, I'm glad you like it! Look forward to more Nocty builds this summer!- 20 replies

CDC1 Tower: Ssilyrrlith's Retreat - [NCW] Feathers of Fate

Thanks, zoth! Thanks for your feedback! I wanted a cohesive spread of colour throughout the build, to tie different sections of the build together, but maybe you see that more as jumping from one colour to the next in some places?- 20 replies

Wholesome story! Man, what cool dad Draconius is, setting up such a fun party! Good figure posing indeed, and that last shot is great! Some parts of your build appear a bit empty (plain exposed studs), but the vegetation present is pretty nice, especially the flowers. I think your main overview shot could have been taken at a better angle: turn the build clockwise until the trees (and figures) are spread out lined from left to right. That should also put less emphasis on the less interesting parts of the build. I consider this canon now, btw.

CDC1 Tower: Ssilyrrlith's Retreat - [NCW] Feathers of Fate
Exetrius replied to Exetrius's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thank you, Louis! The bird was a fun build for sure. :) Yes, I have adopted a few features of that build (teal, tower with dome, spikes and spiky plants), although that build couldn't be viewed from all sides, didn't have an interior, didn't have other funtionalities (opening doors or hatches), and wasn't complete as a structure, while this one has all of that! Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! Thank you! You know, it's always good to have some extra natural defenses around your stronghold.- 20 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Seems like I misjudged it... it's the golden 'ring weapon' and a golden hollow stud. Still looks nice, though. 40490 Ninjago 10th Anniversary BrickHeadz (1) by Luis Baixinho, on Flickr -

CDC1 Tower: Ssilyrrlith's Retreat - [NCW] Feathers of Fate
Exetrius replied to Exetrius's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys! Thanks, man! Yeah, where IS Lord Ssilyrrlith? Well, the castle Abyssian was under long and heavy siege in the Civil War, so he had little reason to be on holiday... As far as pictures go, I'm trying my best. I'm taking pictures with a DSLR camera, but I'm much limited in my knowledge and set-up, perhaps also by my lens. I'm still struggling to get everything to look crisp and clear, especially the darker parts. Thanks for your compliments, Kai! I while building, I was trying to think of an interesting purpose for this tower, and then I got the idea of a royal tower, which allowed me to push the colours and architecture a little further. Interesting to hear you like the fade-out. I still need to remove the background of my builds because I depend on indirect natural light in my room and I have a shallow, amateur, sheet of paper for background. And I don't have photoshop. I do have a programme that can cut around the countours, but it's completely manual and only in one go, so that's a painstaking job. So my usual approach is to cut out with a good margain around the build, replace the background with a white that I've settled on for all my builds, and then retouch where the margain and background meet. This time I had little light available and couldn't really fix that during editting, so the fade-out is more pronounced, and I was doubting if it would work out this time. Here's a simple alternative edit that I made in Paint that I considered instead: Ultimately I don't like the natural background and I don't think it would look good if I'd do this to all my builds, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.- 20 replies

The story is grand! You have me on the edge of my seat to find out more about that gorge. Beautiful build! The snowscaping is great, but looks even better broken up by the rock face and arch, and the path (nice texture!). I really like the layered build-up of the tower, very pleasing profile, and the snow on the roof is excellent! I do think the stone between the round pillars is a bit too rough and deep, although it helps to evoke the tough and harsh environment vibe that you describe. Fantastic entry!

Cool to see the fantasy part of Avalonia receive some love! I like how you achieved the open dome and the fire that lights up! The upside down rock is good, though mixing new and old grey is not my cup of tea. The eagle with his catch is a nice dynamic touch

So, when I said that I possibly didn't have time to make an entry for this contest, because of Nocturnus Civil War (NCW) stuff I'm doing, someone suggested I could combine the two. And so I did. Side note: I'm starting to see that I'm way more involved in building architecture, and much less in building scenes where lore actually happens, so I still have two large creations from last year that I haven't posted yet. I do have a plan though, trust me™. Anyway, I'll put the entry first and then the NCW lore part. Royal Nocturnian Outpost (Ssilyrrlith's Residence) Before the days of the Nocty Civil War, Lord Ssilyrrlith, ruler of Nocturnus, would once and so often leave Abyssian and swamp that he calls home behind, and move to his summer residence (quite literally). It is situated in the Siccus Badlands, specifically on the northern banks of the Fallen Angel, where skies are often clear, the air is dry and temperatures are high. This small military outpost was initially built to gain more control over the disputed Badlands region, and as such it serves as the southwesternmost cornerstone of the Nocturnian Empire. The little stronghold residence is a place where Ssilyrrlith comes to gain some peace of mind - up in his tiny tower room, and do a bit of voluntary studying. Nevertheless, sometimes his duties catch up to him, in the form of his trusted feathered messenger! The tower opens up in multiple sections to reveal staircases, ladders, and Ssilyrrlith's detailed tower room, featuring furniture (cabinet, desk, bed, chair, sadly not all in the picture...), luxury items, writing and reading material, and a functional toilet which exits at the back of the tower! Feathers of Fate [Nocturnus Civil War] Ambush in the Rakath [Nocturnus Civil War] Onwards, to the Moruth Highlands! [Nocturnus Civil War] Turmoil in Camp Carakath [Nocturnus Civil War] Zotharians in the Underworld [Nocturnus Civil War] Rockwail's Catacombs: Rise of the Undead It had been quiet at the residence outpost for months - no, seasons on end. This far out in the Siccus Badlands region, major events of the Nocturnian Civil War; of the Algus invasion; the conflict in Kaliphlin; or even the rise of the true Heir to the Historican Throne, were little more than clouds on the horizon, or rumbles in the distance. With two exceptions. The first was eight months ago, when an elven messenger on their way to Avalonia passed by and reported that Abyssian Castle, with Lord Ssilyrrlith in it, was under heavy siege, and for some time already. The military staff present was shocked by this news, brought to their ears by a stranger, and initially didn't want to believe it. For all they knew, the "Hesperian", as that messenger had claimed to be, could be anyone. So, in a higher state of alertness and preparedness, they waited for orders. Those never came. Three months later - this was the second instance, the Hesperian returned, with a army of warriors seemingly drawn from all corners of Historica, and they were heading towards the battlefields at the Moruth Highlands. Now realizing the gravity of the situation, the full military unit, save for a couple of caretakers of the residence, joined the army and left for the blood-drenched heart of Nocturnus. And since then, it had been quiet... Mael, on of the caretakers, gazed out over the Fallen Angel stretching out before the stronghold, mostly shrouded in mist and fumes. Another empty day? Probably. But then he heard a familiar squeak, coming from the sky. He look around and was both delighted yet nervous at the sight of Aras, Lord Ssilyrrlith's loyal messenger bird, which was making a rapid circular descend. He hurried to the platform in front of the gate, while notifying the other guard. Aras greeted him quickly with a nod, but the look its eyes was insistent. Mael pulled a letter from behind its broad white-feather collar. He passed it on to his colleague, who was more literate. "Mael, I can't believe it..." he stumbled, as he went over the letter again and again. "It says... it says Abyssian.. has fallen." --- So that concludes both the entry and the story continuation, I hope you enjoyed!

It's relatively quiet here right now... so I'll ask something as well. :) Any of you willing to support my LEGO Universe project? Just 3 days left, but support picked up again yesterday so now I'm past the 900 mark! Let's see if this baby can fly higher still Cheers! All in all, it had a great run. I learned a ton, and I even got mentioned in the credit roll of the original LEGO Universe soundtrack that LEGO Gaming released in February this year!

So, I suppose this means you can enter as long as it's May 31, at least somewhere in the world, as has been the case for previous contests? (I like the idea that some ridiculously remote island in the middle of the Pacific gets to decide when it's time to stop building ) @adde51 -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Exetrius replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Samurai X Nya looks great, and I'm hopeful that that shield on her torso is printed (decorations on that part have never been stickers), but I'm cautiously excited about the GWP thing. Firstly, "free with $110 purchases" may well become "free with €130" in the Netherlands. Secondly, that NASA probe GWP was more a raffle than anything else; if the stock is much lower than the demand I can't be sure that I can get it. And thirdly, "store only" is another thing to overcome. So therefor, I'll wait till I can see the grand total of these factors. -
A Nocturnus build? In 2021?? ... Where am I? Fun build and story, you don't see a Historica isekai everyday, haha! Bob first appeared in a contest entry, was it? Anyway, I'm happy to see someone else build in Nocty, and you did well! The colour scheme is pretty wild and daring, with the lime, dark red, purple and lavender, but it all seems to work out. I guess I would have liked to see an overview shot, but since this is a story build it's not really required. Thanks for the credit, btw! Also, always be weary of Avalonian wizards in Nocturnus, they are often up to no good...
