  1. Well I'm close ish in Alabama but it's slim pickings. People are too busy hunting and going to Football games. There is a Lug in Birmingham Alabama, that's the closest. Have you been to Brickfair Alabama yet?
  2. I saw this at Brickfair VA and told you how good it is. Great work and great photography, I hope to see more
  3. Hi thanks for your interest, no I just slung it together, I've actually made a few changes to it with more trans blue. I have a few more pics on flicker but that's all really
  4. Thank you. Do you mean the designs on the flags? They are actually from the Lego Harry Potter sticker book and the large Hogwarts banners are from one of the sets that I brick linked. The Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw Quidditch players are custom stickers that I stuck on, but I have just placed an order for custom printed figs.
  5. Thanks everyone it's such a fun build and I am glad it can be enjoyed. I was really pushing for enough of a realistic representation and then adding a little bit of fun. So they are printed and stuck on, I purchased the basic files off a guy from Instagram as I was out of time and needed them quickly as they were a last minute thought. I have now been offered some custom printed ones made by someone if I plug them, however I may actually make my own decals and do them a bit differently.
  6. I've seen it on flicker and now here. I cannot get enough of this. Perfection
  7. Thanks, I have followed the directions, have an account and watched the video. I cannot find 'new' anywhere in submitting a moc. Thanks'
  8. I like the detail with the speeders inside. Well done looks great. There are some great at at walker builds out there and they never get old.
  9. My 9 year old son started reading Harry potter when school got out in May, and knowing that we were heading to Brickfair Virginia in August, wanted to build a Quidditch scene based on the second movie together. Many Bricklink orders later and countless hours studying screenshots from the movie and our finished product was displayed this past weekend. Below are some pics that I currently have, I took most before I left, I will probably set up again and photograph more detail, once I am unpacked. The Quidditch arena is almost 7.5 feet long, has 16 accurate towers as seen in the second movie with seating at the top, a passage way to move between stands and a stairwell to climb up to the stands and towers. I tried to capture the feeling from the movie in the stands, that are made with wood and have the House colours draped over the front, with you being able to see through to the bottom of the stands. The Quidditch rings are identical to the movies as much as I could achieve. I could not source a white flexible hose in the right length for the wrings, so I purchased black ones and then spray painted with regular primer and then scratched at them to give an attempt at a worn look. There are probably over 200 school children in authentic Gryffindor and Slytherin Lego minifigures (Capes are being added as I type for the next round of photographs). Most of the school teachers are present in the stands. There is a full compliment of 7 Gryffindor and 7 Slytherin Lego Quiddich players and an additional 7 custom Hufflepuff and 7 Custom Ravenclaw Quidditch Players. The field is striped with both regular green and bright green plates and tiles (bright green is pretty scarce). We have many other activities going on in the stands and outside too, with Cheerleaders, an appearance from Willy Wonker and Hermonie dropping all of her books. I hope you enjoy, thanks for taking the time to look. Cheers. Harry Potter Quidditch arena. Based mainly on the 2nd H.P movie we have accurately recreated one of the most iconic pop culture sporting arenas of all time. This was such a fun father/son project to complete and measures almost 7.5 feet long. by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr snitch chase by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr snitch chase by Martin Harris, on Flickr Any Harry Potter fans out there? :) by Martin Harris, on Flickr
  10. I'll suggest the fern plants- don't know their real name and then flower stems. The ferns are a little harder to come by, the plant stems can be found on pick a brick walls normally. You can increase and decrease the height/depth by placing them in top of the other for desired effect. I did this with my Endir display Maybe make the trees and canopy tall so it frames what is below.
  11. Sweet, HP has been lacking these last few years at events I have been. The Map was updated today and the Hary potter and Fairytale world sections are both mine. I'll probably switch them around so the quidditch scene is on the corner of the table as it will give better viewing. My son will be pleased, he's a huge HP fan
  12. Last year was my first year there and loved it so making the 14 hour drive again. Will have quite a large Quidditch scene with us for one of our Mocs
  13. So exciting. I hope and wonder at the same time if this could be the start of a series of exceptional Disney castles. What a lone up that could/would be. Everyone stop whining about minifigs. Wonderful set Great pricing ( sure it's a lot of money?m, but Lego provides many other options for sets that are less money) I am happy to pay this money for a wonderfully designed and executed set. I don't want to pay more for a ton of minifigs.
  14. I'm not bothered at all about the minifigs. I think all the rooms will be where we can place/display or play with the CMFs to come in the future. My little boy said he wants to build it, my little girl wants to play with it. It is just a brilliant. I hope we all remember the fear we had that it wouldn't be what we wanted, and quite frankly no one can be disappointed. I am sure that when it comes out people will have complaints here and there but I really hope if that is the case that they keep them to themselves and not spoil what is clearly a master piece. Quite frankly this set is a thing of pure beauty. Well done. Well done.
  15. Well done Lego. Very exciting and gorgeous work. Day one purchase and day one build. They nailed it. Now. Do you get two to make it complete and open up from the back like the old castle grayskull toy set? Really they have outdone themselves
  16. Thanks all for the kind and encouraging words. I am working on an addition and this is the first attempt at my new mine. Its only a small segment but I wanted to share it. I tried to get the cart as realistic to the one in the movie as I could. I cant find a lego Deer though to put a leash on that looks good enough...for my moc for BF VA I may have to use SVEN from the Frozen sets :) SW7D-1 by Martin Harris, on Flickr
  17. Hi, I have been working on a few additions to my Fairytale world that I posted in January. One of them is this Cottage that belonged to the 7 dwarves in Snow White. This is my first effort at a 'house/cottage' building and provided a few challenges. I based it on the Disney artwork of the cottage. There is not an interior to it, but I may put a room in it in the back for my daughter to play with. Thanks for looking, there are so many amazing creators out there who build incredible buildings and provide great inspiration and as I started working on this little project, I appreciated their skill an awful lot more. Thanks for looking. martinharrisharrissw-1 by Martin Harris, on Flickr
  18. Arghh. Ignore my comment :) Bring On the large castle!!!
  19. Thank you. I intend to branch out a be more and incorporate some of the new Disney cmf
  20. This. It's a 'sneak peak'. Look at the buildings behind in the background. I bet this will be a castle and a few buildings and a parade. Assault on hoth- we got a FULL SNEAK PEAK in the video in October. Set turned out pretty much exactly like it and everyone was disappointed. This set had been sneak peaked we have images minus the castle part. This will be a great play feature set. Do not allow yourself to get over worked and hyped like everyone did on hoth. With the hoth set people are so smdissappinted because they let themselves get carried away.
  21. Thanks for the reply, looking forward to what you achieve, I appreciate anything that you are willing to share. Cheers Martin
  22. You rock thanks for sharing. I just bought the SC and plan to do similar thanks to your wonderful work. Question for you, if you don't mind me asking- a lot of the plates, do they just sit on top of the regular structure or did you ah e to build a sub structure for it. Cheers
  23. Thanks, glad you liked it! Yes we had the Endor scene, the Fairytale princess scene, my son had some Greek gods and a Battle of Umbara scene from clone wars. I haven't shared Endor here yet, kinda nervous to as there is so much good stuff here. I shared it on Flickr, from Virginia last year but I updated a ton of it for Alabama. Thanks for your kind words
  24. Here is our heavily modified (less than 25 original pieces) set 9493 'Friendly Wing' that we entered into Brickfair Alabama this weekend. This is the latest Firendsified Star Wars ship that we had built and was perfect as the Lego group were holding a contest for the best 'friendlyfied' official lego set, which we won. These vehicles are always well received with visitors and especially my daughter. The wings function perfectly and the minifig fits in and out of the cockpit also. thanks for looking!
