42000 Grand Prix Racer Mod!
MacKaiwer replied to Perry15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No, thanks to you man! I've got the inspiration for the indycar mod from you and your build. Yes, nose is a big problem with my build because I still use nearly stock 42000 chassis and it has quite tall front suspension so it's quite tricky to make lower nose cone. And of course I have too just limited amount of parts... For that mod I have to take huge amount of 42025 Hovercraft parts. But I'm glad you like it PS. Your 42039 looks great and I bet you liked building of it It just is wonderful Lego set! -
Time for version 2.0. Some day appears to be today already Changes happened little everywhere, here are the pics: Overall look, now I try to add aero kit look with little extra panels. Also lenght between rim/tires is now two studs shorter and rear wing little modded Nosecone is really pain in *** Now it looks like this Rear has some changes too I also change the sides look like this As always comments are welcome. I think it's little better now. If I invent some new changes pics will follow

Which Porsche should i choose?
MacKaiwer replied to jg711's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello, Maybe 935/78 "Moby Dick"? With Martini livery of course: PS. Heh, Jay Psi beated me by a blink, but +1 from here too to it -
Thanks Saberwing40k for constructive feedback. Yes the nose of the car is somewhat problem because i'm using original 42000 chassis. Moving front wheels little bit backwards can be good solution, and that may give a change to build lower nosecone. I think I could make a knob rear of the car quite easily by changing that structure little bit... Overall very good tips, I appreciate, version 2.0 will be revealed some day

Hello! I was inspired by Perry15s' IndyCar mod and made my own mod too. I took needed extra parts mainly from set 42025. So here it is, version 1.0, most probably I do changes to it but here goes the pics: Overall looks: I wanted it to be as wide as possible: Back (safety barrier): Back suspension is working without contacting anything: And hood can be still popped (but is now harder to do because it can be operated only under the car): So here it is. I'll hear gladly comments, critics and of course tips for improvments PS. I posted pics also to Perry15s' thread but I think that by starting new topic I might get more comments/tips and if/when I make improvments I have my own thread to post pics and thoughts of them.

42000 Grand Prix Racer Mod!
MacKaiwer replied to Perry15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello again Perry15 I made a little try to create something "indycarish" with my 42000. You can be judge how it went, so here is some pics of it: Main difficult was indeed to connect rear safety zone to the wing and maintain suspension working without tires touching wing or safety zone. It's really close now but working properly. I might try to make it better, this is just version 1.0. Hope you like it! -
[WIP] Ultimate 42009
MacKaiwer replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, grum, you are wise and sharp at the matter, I, as usual, can maybe to be quite messed up with my delivery, that I admit... I just want to say that your spirit, not-giving-back attitude and your outstanding positive outcome is something which should give everybody a best example how to solve and resolve matters... What I'm trying to say with my lousy english, you inspire me and make me to believe that I can, because you can, no matter what Just love you man -

Grum, you're the man! That's incredible what you do I'm newbie AFOL and just started to build Technic sets and now trying to make mods/mocs and your example encourage me to try my best when I try to think out of the box and create something. Keep up the good work man  -
42000 Grand Prix Racer Mod!
MacKaiwer replied to Perry15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's already better Sides could be even more bulkier and build as a "one piece". Also wing ang back could be joined as a "one piece". Something like this: But I like that you're trying to do changes and more changes, you are like me, do/try/error/change/rechange again and again and it's starting to make shape Maybe I mod my 42000 also to a Indy Car, who knows, your idea is great, keep it up and if you want, do even more modding with your 42000 and it's gonna be awesome PS. 42039 is great set, I have two of them, A model already assembled and B model waiting its' turn -
I would! I bought two of them but not for the parts, only for experience and to have fun with them and now I have two nice models on my shelf I just love this set but i'm newbie AFOL so I don't know what reasonable humans will say Go for it Edit: Okay I modded them quite heavily but if you are looking them for wheel/tires/parts I presume that you are not also doing them stock/original? Mine are these: Edit2: Rationally thinking, just for the parts, yes but only if you need wheels/tires and engine parts and maybe light blue panels... And then again where else you could find all of them... BL, but would it be any cheaper? I again may say: Go for it

Thanks! I tried to make my best because this is my first "half moc". I just love the looks of those rims although now the 81.6x38R tyre rubber will be permanently unusable with original rims because of extreme streching. But they are from tyre/wheel set which I bought from BL and they were already used and really cheap, so no worries :)

[IDEA] Monster truck tires
MacKaiwer replied to Pego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Man vs rubber, man wins On the wheel Front: Back: It was all about technic... Little common sense and buttering knife and easy does it Now I can complete my mod/moc desert buggy with these nice show off wheels It's only a display model, so the looks are everything. Notice that I will post picture/pictures for my final version of that buggy really soon, so check out Desert Buggy thread -

But can you do this with new 6-hole and reinforced wheels, like wheels from set 42000 or set 42039? I tried but not with good results, although I used huge amount of power and some equipments too... Front: Back: Only other side can be pulled on the wheel as you can see from the pics... If anybody has done this, please some advice/hint... -

42000 Grand Prix Racer Mod!
MacKaiwer replied to Perry15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe Official Pace Car Indianapolis 500 Year 2011 aka Chevy Camaro? Colour scheme is at least same: -
Jim, you're the man! I liked very much your review, great job Personally I was really skeptic of A model but then I made it and absolutely fell love in with it... Now I have a problem... I want buy second copy of this set and build B model also I'm not going to disassemble A model, that's for sure PS. I made a little mods to roof and back end because they were too open... And also changed wing color to white and added little telemetry antennas

MacKaiwer replied to Perry15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm waiting what it will be Personally I like this set and made some mods too... New style in front wing, little bit changed back wing and modded side air intakes. Also new colour styling maybe towards the old legendary mclaren colour style. So i'm very interested what you will create -
Help / Opinion
MacKaiwer replied to neoconagenda's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think that's quite a truth... I am quite new AFOL and not so long time ago I paid for complete, original, used and good conditioned 8043 set 200 euros including shipping costs and I think that was very reasonable price... So my opinion is too that you should sell 8043 as original set -
Yes that's radical but it's the lightest possible positive caster with that frame and that front suspension. For smaller positive caster one must rebuild frame and/or front suspension and because this is display model and I like the looks I think i'll keep it that way Next setup is even more positive caster or back to negative... That what you see is just one click/stud believe or not These suspension arms are stiffer than that snowmobile arm but I dont know if they are good for RC steering, no experience of that all... Edit: I understand that you've got me wrong in my previous message: I said four point connection meaning it's connected with four of these http://brickset.com/parts/4121715 and removing two of them gave me opportunity move caster one stud to positive direction and it's that what you see in picture.

It's stunning! I will build it someday and I think one organ donor for some panels will be my 42025 B model (aka Hovercraft). Now just waiting for instructions and parts list.
-
Yes, I've done it Also minor changes for the looks: Thanks TheNextLegoDesigner Now it really turns better and also looks more like real buggies It was really easy change for the front suspension because the frame has two "layers" of beams and each side of suspension has four point connection so I just changed it to two point connection and got it angled
