  1. I love how you use bright colours to make your builds feel somehow exotic! This is another great example and the pink roof with nougat highlights works really well. I also like the very original story (I am pretty sure we haven't seen a travelling geologist before!) Well done!
  2. Thank you all. I'm going to make some small vignettes for some of my CMF - I'll add them to the post here rather than create new threads. First up is the (slightly modified) Mummy Officer, complete with skeletal men-at-arms and horses drawing his chariot.
  3. Thanks! It's from Beorn from the Hobbit.
  4. Cedrica Royal Knight Having forsaken loyalty to individual guilds, these knights guard the Royal family. Avalonia Ranger Equally comfortable on horse or deep in the forests, these warriors roam Avalonia bringing peace and justice. Dryad Caretakers of the Avalonian forests, take care not to harm the ancient trees if you value your life. Centaur Deep in the forests, communities of centaurs shy away from outside contact. Kaliphlin Desert Noble Cavalry On the Kaliphlini high tablelands, these noble cavalry have a reputation for battle matched only by that of their magnificent moustaches. Merchant's Bodyguard The fabled riches of the Kaliphlini spice merchants requires protection, and these master axemen are perfect for the role. Mummy Officer Death is no escape for service to the Desert King. Mummified officers command troops of the dead in his service. Bonus Vignette: Mitgardia Shield Maiden Did you believe the tales that the women of the north all have beards to rival their menfolk? Pfft, you know nothing Jon Snow. Húskarl Loyal household warriors to petty lords and chiefs, these warriors are of the firm believe that the only thing better than a good battleaxe... is two good battleaxes... Frost Elf Elves don't just live in forests, the frozen wastelands offer a haven for fair folk of a more chilly disposition. Nocturnus Drow Warrior The less said about these dark elves, the better for all. Fright Knight It's not just monsters to fear in Nocturnus, humans can be just as scary! Cyclops Warlord Amassing huge strength, but lacking hand to eye coordination, these not-so gentle giants can be loyal friends, or fearsome enemies... Varlyrio Assassin Shady business? Intricate intrigue? Varlyrian assassins are the best 'problem solvers' in the business. Lionel Bravo Quick to insult, even quicker with a rapier, never offer insult to a Varlyrian lionel, especial a bravo. Actually, probably best not to attempt conversation and avoid eye contact.... Mercenary Captain Varlyrian mercenaries are some of the best warriors money can buy, unless of course your opponent can pay more.... Overview I went with a more martial theme for my CMF. I was really inspired seeing all the great figures produced for this challenge. Some fantastic entries by all!
  5. The military garrison at Brickford Landing; under the direction of Captain Keats, has constructed a sawmill on the outskirts of the town to produce timber for the growing settlement. Nothing special, just another micro! Licensed for Corrington.
  6. Pretty much the same reaction as all above - great work representing a cog at such as small scale. The bracket pieces were a great choice for the fore and aft towers.
  7. That is a nice micro ship and the water effect came out really well, it's really successful in creating the look that the ship is cutting through the ocean.
  8. The thatch worked perfectly! and it really suits that house (definitely more than the backpacks - although I didn't mind the backpack look either...) It feels really nordic and makes me want to build for Mitgardia again! I think the boat technique would work really well for a stave church - something I've been wanting to try for some time (heads to bricklink). Impressive collection of sheep as well (see bracketed comment above )
  9. Also my second entry, also for Corrington!
  10. A flimsy observation post, somewhere in the marshes of the Marion river, near Stormhaven. Officer: I say, is that a white spotted greater marsh boobie? Ye Gods! I think it is. (leans further forward to get a better look) Pioneer: Sir, please step back, this platform has been precision engineered and you risk toppling into the swamp Officer: What is that you say man??? Oh my! Two! there are two boobies! Pioneer: (rather dryly) There usually are...... Sir, I must caution you, please step back. Officer: I must record this. (reaches for a quill, which breaks). Damn! I say, (examines the quill) Made in Eslandola - well that explains it... rubbish quality control. Pioneer: Indeed Sir, mass produced for a quick profit. Officer: Be a good chap and nip down and get me a reed. I can fashion an new nib from one. Pioneer: Surely you jest, there are crocodiles down there. Officer: Crocodiles...? Oh you mean the Serentia River Crocodile, nevermind old chap, they only eat fish. Pioneer: Tell that to the crocodile Sir, look if you want to wade around down there, please feel free. I'm remaining here until the canoe returns for us. Another typical day in Corrington! 5 uses of the telescope in this one! I tried for the same style dialogue as my Eslandolan entry with a contrast between the pragmatic engineer and the absent minded naturalist! A build for the current mini challenge, but not to be included in judging please. I'd like to exclude myself from this competition.
  11. I've been meaning to comment on this build since you posted and have finally got around to it! I absolutely love it! I can see how you used my Port Raleigh build as starting inspiration, but you've managed to put your own twist onto it. I think what I like the most is the attention to all the little details, the texture and patterns around the windows, the gold scroll pieces. It all works really well together. Of course sepoys are always cool as well! Maybe this is now my new favourite of your physical builds, nicely done!
  12. The finished product turned out nicely. I'm not as convinced on the colour combo as Garm and BD, but I think that may be the render on my screen. I really like the detail around the windows and the use of the black harpoon(?) pieces as the top of the fence. It is great to have such an elegant headquarters for the ETTC in Westface, Major Brickford has the board of directors compliments! I'll take care of the paperwork for the licensing if you haven't already.
  13. Lovely work on the curvature of the tower, I especially like the way you cut it open to show the interior. The spiralling staircase is a favourite detail of mine here! Very nice work.
  14. A military supply depot, licensed as a medium commerce for Corrington. A sawmill, licensed as a large factory for Corrington.
  15. After the capture of the Lotii scout last month, no further enemy activity had been observed in the nascent settlement. Nonetheless, Captain Keats continued to prepare for potential attack. Admittedly, the Corlanders were not in a strong position on the island they had christened Annettaskrona. Brickford Landing consisted of mostly makeshift buildings and a tiny garrison, with most of the forces that were present at the initial founding transferred back west for the Terraversan war. As part of his efforts to consolidate the Corrish presence, Captain Keats had supervised the raising of a fortified stores depot, one of the first permanent structures in the settlement. The building served the dual purpose of providing a secure, dry place for military supplies, as well as providing a defensible structure should the settlement come under attack. Here Captain Keats supervises the storage of a new batch of recently arrived supplies at the depot. Part of our shift back to the war with the Lotii, especially in light of the recent KPA news! Licensed as a medium commerce for the Crown account.
  16. seconded! That is a lot of detail with the sails for such a small vessel - well done!
  17. All round brilliant job here Spud! Firstly the colour palette, as others have mentioned, it works really well. I don't think I've seen that much normal red mixed into a dark red building before and it looks great. The reds then are contrasted nicely by the bleys. While a simple A frame, the structure itself pops with the detailed wall texture and insert in the front wall with the arch. The addition of the grey and sand green roof tiles is a nice little detail. Lastly, that tree looks really good. I had to have a close look to see that the spine pieces are attached to leaf pieces. In all, very well done and definitely a GoC from me
  18. The July-August Summary has also been published. There are a number of accounts that have been in the negative now for a little while. I suggest the relevant governors address this before the end of October... because even if Uncle ( @Kai NRG ) doesn't get you, there may be other consequences as well.....
  19. Jul-Aug 21 Summary As usual, let me know any issues and I'll try to get to them as soon as possible
  20. I've just glanced over the aMRCA, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't place it in North Silithonia and I definitely don't have an objection. In the absence of any other input, consider this a definitive answer
  21. Finally João arrived at Port Wilks. After saying goodbye to the friendly Corrie fisherman and his somewhat unpleasantly smelling boat, João made his way along the rough wooden pier towards the settlement. His first impressions were pleasant if not somewhat underwhelming. To his relief, the settlement wasn't perched on silts above a mangrove swamp like Stormhaven, although it was even smaller. The beaches looked bright and pleasant, especially when contrasted against his last stop. On arrival at the end of the pier, his sense of disappointment at the progress of the settlement grew. On first impressions, it seemed to only consist of a large tavern and a few scattered ETWC warehouses; although some construction work seemed in progress. A small sea-wall was half finished and the temporary timber wharf stretched out through the shallows so that larger vessels could dock. Over the next few hours, his understanding of his new home grew. It seemed that attempts at agriculture were constantly thwarted by the swarms of wild boars that were so bold they openly ventured out into the muddy streets in daytime. A few wooden hovels dotted the muddy settlement, which only stretched for a few hundred metres inland before giving way to un-cleared vegetation. João now understood why the Terraversan merchants had been so unwilling to venture here - why on earth would they want too? No profit to be made here... yet. The senior trade company executives who had founded the settlement had been called away shortly after on important business elsewhere. Until they returned, João needed to somehow start providing profits back to company headquarters. It was not going to be easy... My large micro for ChIVCatA. As promised, licensed in the name of the ETWC (ESL) as a large commerce (the pier and warehouse). After building, I decided to reverse the image so that it matched the features of the map of Isla Phillipe, which I thought was a nice little detail (and defiantly totally planned.....)!
  22. I think I prefer the sand blue - it's that little bit more muted compared to the slightly brighter med blue. I have a ton of these old style cavalry troopers - I should try a western themed build one of these days!! I tried your eraser trick with a torso but couldn't get it to work. I've experimented in the past with nail varnish remover, but it damaged the plastic in an unrepairable way!
