  1. Esteemed shareholders of the East Terran Trade Company, @Bregir @Brickwolf @evancelt @LM71Blackbird @Spud The Viking @SilentWolf It has been a most extraordinary period of growth for the ETTC over the past two months and; as temporarily acting treasurer, please see below the additions to ETTC property holdings since my last report in April of this year: Size Type Location Yield Medium Commerce Westface 11 Medium Factory Jameston 11 Medium Commerce Black Beach 10 Large Factory Jameston 16.5 Large Commerce Spudkirk 15 Large Commerce The Cross Roads 16.5 Large Commerce The Cross Roads 16.5 Total income from ETTC property has such increased to 350.5DB - that is almost a 30% increase in profits since April. Congratulations to all members involved in this astonishing growth. The official company ledgers have been updated (OOC: the first post of this thread!) and members are requested to report any discrepancies to myself, care of the Corlander Expeditionary Force, Westface. Additionally, I am pleased to report that our drive to expand ETTC presence across Corlander settlements has also made some advancement, with additions to both Spudkirk and Black Beach. As before, the company ledgers have been updated to reflect these changes. Signed your most obedient servant, Dirk Allcock
  2. Task 12, build 1 - Post Office, Stormhaven
  3. Post Office, large artisan registered for the Corrington account. Wildlife Observation Platform, small education registered for the Corrington account.
  4. I'd say it's probably one of the best micro farm's I've seen! Well done, looks great at this scale.
  5. João Álvares Mendonça was not a happy man. His career as a junior agent for the East Trade Wind Company in the colonies had started well in King's Port with the establishment of a local office. From there; however, things had not continued according to plan. His scheme to open a subsidiary ETWC office in the Terraversan interior was dashed by a lack of available funds, transport and his own inability to secure transport from King's Port to the Cross Roads. Disappointed, he was forced to turn his attention back to his original mission, and so attempted to book passage to Port Wilks, as per his original instructions from the board of Directors. The first Terraversan merchant captain he had approached claimed to have never heard of the Eslandolan settlement. The second laughed at him and dismissed him with a derisive "why would anyone want to travel to that Gods forsaken dung heap?". Rejection kept coming until he gave up and was forced to book passage to the largest settlement in that region that anyone was actually going to, the Corlander settlement of Elizabethville. Things were a little easier in Elizabethville. The Corlander Royal Postage Service ran a small clipper to the adjacent Corrie settlement of Stormhaven once a week. The Corries seemed happy to help the forlorn Eslandolan merchant - even providing him passage for no charge. João was deeply troubled by this. Why on earth would these foreigners help him if not for profit? Surely they must have some dark scheme about? Yet despite his misgivings, he arrived in Stormhaven safe, not robbed or abandoned on some tiny speck of land in the middle of the Sea of Thieves. Stormhaven surprised him. An unconventional settlement in an unpleasant location, from what he could see it was constructed almost entirely on board walks over insect infested mangroves. Surely Port Wilks would not be as bad as this? Then, his keen merchant's eye noticed the amount of sugar being almost constantly transported out to waiting small vessels for on-forwarding to Port Raleigh. Thus he began to understand why the Corries persisted here. The post office was new he was told, constructed after a large pirate raid the previous year. The the local postal agent was welcoming, but was unable to provide any assistance in gaining further passage to Port Wilks. Making enquires, it became clear that the citizens of Stormhaven didn't seem to know much about the nearby Eslandolan settlement. No one seem to have visited or have any reason to do so. Eventually João found a fisherman who knew the waters and who occasionally stopped in at Port Wilks to resupply with water and hard tack. He agreed to take João in his rather unpleasant smelling boat. With Poseidon's blessing, he would finally reach his destination soon.... A submission for GoC task 12 - Mangrove Madness. I have always meant to build more for Stormhaven - I've always loved @Mike S vision of a settlement build over mangrove swamps and have tried to replicate it here. For those who have been around a while you'll note I've tried to use the same style as in this build of Mike's developing on my previous attempt here. I have also featured an officer of Mike's Tiberian Guard.
  6. My one? Was in Nola Mar, but after examining the spreadsheet, it doesn't look like it has been licensed yet. I offered it to OL for licensing, @KotZ, do you want me to take care of the paperwork?
  7. Thanks everyone - uploaded the modified image, this time with gold pieces included - thanks Evan! It happens from time to time!
  8. Crap! I forgot that part! Will have to reshoot!
  9. A customs sentry post, licensed as a small commerce for the ETWC. And a albatross eye's view of the temporary pier and initial ETWC warehouses. Licensed as a Large commerce for the ETWC
  10. At small sentry post guarding the temporary quay at Port Wilks: Sentry: I don't understand? Customs Agent: What is there not to understand? The ETWC takes a payment in goods for every import into the settlement. It is really quite simple. Take this grain for example, the company claims a ten percent tithe. So that merchant was importing twenty sacks. Sentry: But ten percent of twenty is 2 sacks? We took 5. Customs Agent: Yes of course, but you forgot to include the fee for using this fine wharf. Sentry: It's falling down! Customs Agent: Hmmph, it is functional no? Sentry: What is the fee then? Customs Agent: I determined it to be one sack. Sentry: Ok, so that is two for the company and one for the colonial administration. Who are the other two for? Customs Agent: Ahh, glad you asked. That is a 'processing fee', for the customs representative of course. Sentry: That is outrageous! Customs Agent: (quite perturbed) How do you figure" Sentry: Why you quite forgot the 'Security fee'! For the guards who diligently protect your important personage. Customs Agent: Oh, well 1 and a half sacks 'processing fee', half a sack 'security fee'? Sentry: (looks stern, shifts grip on musket) The processing fee is one sack. Customs Agent: Deal. Another typical day in Eslandola! Inspiration should be clear! A small commerce for the ETWC in Port Wilks. Only one use of the sack... I thought about tying up the merchant with a sack on his head inside the post, but wasn't really sure how that fit in the story! My only other thought for the sacks were as coconuts on a palm tree, but I decided to stay true to the source material which didn't include a palm tree. It's a tricky piece to use in multiple ways - or maybe I just lack imagination! A build for the current mini challenge, but not to be included in judging please. I'd like to exclude myself from this competition.
  11. interesting, a choice of trans black or trans neon green... as I have well established that I am far from a purist, maybe some black spray paint might be called for.... :)
  12. I second Ross, this was the first thing I thought of when I saw the upper level, even before I read the text! Brilliant posing as well!
  13. Ouch, I can't help but laugh at this one, even if I am a bit horrified that this would take place in one of our hallowed learning institutes! Nice uses of the seed pieces, the telescope on the tripod is impressive! What is the base piece? The one which the pistols and sextant attach to - I'd like to try and replicate this in real bricks if possible. As to settlements, depending on whether there is further input from my fellow countrymen, I think the style and subject would suit Hussar's Isle.
  14. No worries! Ummm, good question. It looks like you were awarded a license for Cat A and a license for participating and were eligible for the upgrade for placing 1st for your faction in a category, so the upgrade applies to the participation award but not the 3rd place award. Long story short - you can only upgrade one (the participation one).
  15. The list of prize winners and their prizes and deadline can be found in the results post here.
  16. A sugar mill (large factory) for the ETTC in Jameston
  17. Celestia has long a key producer of sugar cane for Corrington and has also had a large ETTC presence since it's foundation; however, until now the ETTC has not dipped it's hand into sugar production in the colony. That has now changed, with the opening of a new sugar mill on the outskirts of Jameston. I was inspired to build a mirco in the yellow style I've been using in Jameston and I'm quite pleased with how it came out! Now I just need to build my other micros before they expire! (a subtle reminder to all who are holding prizes from Challenge IV Part 1.... ). Licensed as a large factory for the ETTC in Jameston.
  18. Because I haven't had a chance to do it yet. I'll get there, but I can't access Google Sheets atm.
  19. no, go as high as you like! Yes, a small border and reasonable overhang (from tree leaves etc) are permitted.
  20. This made me instantly chuckle.... like I said in the challenge thread, very fun indeed. Nice job.
  21. I must say, they are very dashing Oleonese horsemen indeed! Great landscaping on the river as well.
  22. A very intricate interior and I counted six uses of the telescope before I read that you'd already numbered them! The use of the bottom hinge pieces as wall detail is especially pleasing. A very nice entry!
  23. Thanks for the comments all. To be honest, I wasn't really happy with how this one turned out. I lost motivation around the time of the extension then forced myself to finish it for the deadline. The photography I feel is particularly poor - I just couldn't get the lighting right. Anyway... I totally forgot I took an additional picture of the side detail - which was totally wasted as I forgot to post the picture!!! Here it is now. I didn't, but here is the tutorial by Toltomeja showing the technique: Temple of Legochitli - jungle techniques by Toltomeja, on Flickr
  24. Blame your fellow greenies, the sack was a specific suggestion from a certain Eslandolan court member! That was quick - love it!!
