[COR-FB] Mushrooms for Dinner, Wullham
Ayrlego replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm currently experimenting with this method of using flexi-tubes: Also a slightly different tutorial on Instagram here:https://www.instagram.com/p/CLpNvzBpQmA/ Interestingly the author demonstrates how 5 tubes neatly fit into a 1x1 square hole. My spice merchant build nearing completion will feature one of these style trees.- 11 replies

Lovely build Spud, the cherry blossom adds a touch of bright colour that is really nice and the round gate gives an unusual 'exotic' flavour to the build. The way you have angled the support around the gate is very clever, are the SNOT wedge plates attached at all? They give a pleasing texture and I think look much nicer than if you had just used the slopes by themselves. Nice hand-cart design as well. GoC from me! Interestingly we had a Lotii community in Port Raleigh well before the conflict - I think it started with a sushi stand from CelesAurivern then expanded with a tea house from Bregir and then just became a thing until we had created a 'Lotii Quarter' within the settlement. Port Raleigh also boasts the University for Lotii Studies so I guess it's kind of the central hub for Lotii culture in the Corrie colonies. After the Lotii raid on Spudkirk and subsequent capture of our Class 10 Ship of the line I imagine there would have been some tension, but the New Haven Sea is about as far away from Port Raleigh as you can be in the New World (currently) and we revenged our losses in a raid on Jiangkai (now in Olean hands - you're welcome! ) and defeating the Lotii in a naval battle where we destroyed their prize. After that we kind of gained a new (old) enemy much closer - so I think the Lotii in Port Raleigh are probably safe from persecution although as Spud alludes to above some, Corlanders in PR probably go out of their way to avoid the Lotii quarter.

[BTV2 - OL] The Death of COL Delange

Nice action scene. It's good to read stories such as this one as I feel it really adds to the world we are creating. Well Done. PS - what rank is LTC? I'm not familiar with that abbreviation... Lieutenant Colonel? -

Very clean and simple yet using some interesting techniques. The best part for me is the birch tree - I'm a sucker for a good Lego birch tree at the best of times but the way you've used the flexi pipe to angle the three lines of 1x1 rounds then inter-connected them with the leaves is very cool - something I am very likely to steal borrow at some stage. Nice work.- 11 replies

Interesting little vessel and I like the colour scheme and use of the yellow lattice pieces. The card in the back of the first two photos is a little distracting and it is hard to get an appreciation of ship. The last 'action' photo works much better and I like the posing of the minifigs! I hope the master doesn't get the ship beached before it can commence a trade run!!!
-
I actually thought the same myself when I first saw it!

Leaving aside the OC drama, this is a great little build and accompanying story! I have always liked the unique feel of your religious troops and they are displayed well here. You also seem to have a good eye for choosing the right minifig expressions to convey the atmosphere you are trying to project! The impact crater is a nice touch as well.

While the Brick Seas have focused on the Second Terraversan War, business in the ETTC has continued. Somehow, ETTC shareholder Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock found time while commanding the Corlander Expeditionary Force on Terraversa to dictate the following letter to the shareholders of the company. Esteemed Chairman, Treasurer and Shareholders of the most honourable East Terran Trading Company, I would like to place a number of proposals before the general assembly for vote: That the following citizens of Corrington, of good and honest standing are invited to purchase shares in the Company: Lord Frederick Spud @Spud The Viking Major Sir Nathaniel Brickford @LM71Blackbird Captain Jonathan Brickleton @evancelt That the usual share price for the above individuals is waived in preference for development of factories in Corlander settlements currently without an ETTC presence and a commitment to establish a Royal Plantation. Full details to be contained in the attached contract. That a census of shareholders occurs. Any shareholder not contactable by the end of April 621 have their shares paid out to the Crown for safe keeping with the option to buy back in at a later date should they return to the new world. That the company commit to a goal to have a presence in every Corlander settlement in the New Terra by 31st December 621. That the company commit to a goal to expand it's trading fleet to exceed 25 ship levels by 31st December 621. For your consideration honourable Sirs, Sir Dirk Allcock

[OL - Claim] Geo-Surveys Continue in Lavalette
Ayrlego replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, that is correct... you can prospect as much as you like with no limits apart from DBs. The two forms are a hangover from when the sheets were calculated automatically - hopefully we'll eventually get there again but at the moment I do most things manually (hence the mistakes...) If there are any google/excel wizards out there with too much spare time, let me know!!! and it's not you - the rules were super unclear and I suspect hadn't been touched since launch. I have re-written the mining section now to hopefully clear it up. -

Another prospecting build! One might suspect you were looking for something! Hopefully you will be pleased this time; you have struck Quicksilver... aka Mercury! Please don't forget to submit a license form for each prospecting build - prospecting costs 25DB for each 'claim' and unless you submit the form, I might forget to charge you! -
Lol, that's great! The old school pig takes me back... right back to my Duplo! Do they even still make them like that? Also, just for the record the SNOT border technique is not really mine - Originally I shamelessly simplified it from @soccerkid6... you can see his tutorial here. I just (over) use it a lot!!!

Yep. I remember reading somewhere that it was common at the time for drummers to wear the reverse colours of the regiment. So if a regiment had red coats with dark green facings, then the drummer would be in a dark green coat with red facings. I suspect this is more of a historical French thing than British, but I like the idea. @Captain Genaro has also used this concept before in his Lavalette Armoury build, which is what made me think of it.

Continued from here The day had finally come. The Corlander force had arrived outside Oleon occupied Tarlor several days previously. So far there had been no reaction from the small Oleonese garrison other than to slam the doors of the newly constructed fort shut before the attackers. Now, the artillery was in position and the barrage was set to begin at noon. Half the force under Major Brickford would remain with the artillery facing the fort. The other half of the force with Colonel Allcock would march around the fort, secure Tarlor and complete the encirclement. Once the artillery had blasted the fort and engineers estimated the breaches to be viable, both forces would storm the fortress. Bloody work would surely be ahead. Colonel Allcock marched alongside the column heading into Tarlor. By chance this force contained a company from the 47th Foot; his original regiment, and he marched proudly alongside them. While he had fought since coming to the new world; against buccaneers and at sea against Eslandolans (something he still did not ever openly discuss!) and pirates, this would be the first time against a modern, well equipped enemy - indeed Corrington's old enemy. He was also well aware this would be the first time a Corlander Army faced and Olean Army of this size since the Juniper war some 20 years ago. Further a field he had cavalry scouts out, looking for any approach of an Oleonese relief army from King's Port. Without a relief he was confident Tarlor would fall. A commotion down the line interrupted his thoughts. An officer appeared to be hurrying down the column, he motioned for Captain McDonald, his aide and the pair turned to meet the officer. As he got closer, Allcock recognised Captain Brickleton... but that couldn't be right, Brickleton was in Pamu with Montoya... and so the Corlander army before Tarlor learnt of the Peace treaty and the attack was abandoned. The Corlanders returned to camp outside Tarlor waiting for the Oleonese to withdraw as per the terms of the treaty. The artillery however remained in position... just in case. OOC. The Corlander attack on Tarlor has been cancelled in accordance with the terms of the peace treaty. As soon as I saw @Bodi using the hovercraft skirt as a base I knew I had to try it! It's a brilliant idea - unfortunately the ones I picked up on Bricklink have been bashed around a bit (nice to know they were loved!) but I still love using them as a base. I managed to squeeze out a full company of the 47th Foot. Surprisingly the limiting factor was not bayonets or dark green epaulettes like I originally thought. Instead you see here every single backpack I own! Hence the Grenadiers following the company as they have the sachets instead!

Fortresses in the Brick Seas don't have to be utilitarian and spartan, they can sometimes be rather beautiful! Nowhere is this better demonstrated than by Kai NRG's Cherry Blossom Fort. Check out the colourful details of this beautiful build and get a behind the scenes glimpse of the build process in the accompanying video in the Brethren of the Brick Seas Forum now!
-
Beautiful creation Kai, the pinks and purples create an almost soothing atmosphere and the lime green looks surprisingly good under the trans light blue. The time lapse video was a great insight into your building process - especially how you placed the star part of the for on the base and how you handled the angles. Thanks for sharing!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That is correct yes. When I get a chance I'll add the latest ones to the map index - thanks for the idea! @Keymonus is correct, the island rumours are the best place to start, then maybe check out the settlement thread for the settlement in which you want to build and see what other players have done in the past... or go your own way - it's up to you! -

An Easter miracle! Here are island resource bonuses listed for the first time. The old system meant you had to 'discover' the island bonus from the rumour but this system was always applied haphazardly and was never consistently applied. The system has now been completely reviewed and it has been decided to make this publicly available for transparency. A couple of points regarding island bonuses: 1. These bonuses apply to the property types listed for all properties owned by any faction/entity in any settlement of the listed island. 2. These bonuses are applied in addition to any faction/trade company bonuses. 3. You must state in your license form that you wish to apply a bonus; whether it is a faction/TC or resource bonus if you don't state it in the form you risk us missing it when we calculate account sheets. Some general points to note regarding this clarification: 1. These are based of the island rumours. Islands have been picked by factions based on those rumours. 2. These are only the 'resource' bonuses for each island. Some islands have additional advantages/disadvantages that are not property based (eg. the increased/decreased chance of finding a specific mineral in a prospecting build.) These are not listed here and will not be made available to the player base. The court has access to them and they will continue to be applied when determining the results of prospecting builds. Again they are based on the island rumours. 3. These have not been applied retrospectively. If you would like me to review your properties, please provide me with a list of properties with links that you think these bonuses should apply to. When I get time, I will audit your properties and apply bonuses. Be aware though, due to the inconsistent application of bonuses in the past, if I audit and find your total should actually be less than it is now, I will adjust accordingly. 4. The court reserves the right to 'tweak' these if necessary. Any changes will be announced here. Without any further ado: I present the Island resource bonuses! Any questions, please post here.
