After recuperating from a illness contracted while negotiating with Oleon at the Pine Island talks, Colonel Allcock has returned to Port Woodhouse on his way east for the upcoming campaign against the Lotii. Experience has now convinced him of how important light infantry are in the non-Madrician campaigns in the new world. The upcoming fight would not be fought in grand battle lines, but in thick jungle and dense woodland. As such, Allcock donned the unpopular dark green uniform of the 60th Regiment of Foot. Critics back in the motherland called it 'Too Greenback' but in the harsh campaigns against the natives on Gunpowder Isle it had proved very effective in combat. While Allcock was drilling with the 60th, Brigadier Howe arrived in Port Woodhouse, back from a long absence in Belson. He and Allcock discuss Corlander strategy and appointments for the Oleonda Campaign. In the absence of higher guidence, Colonel Allcock had been prepared to take command of the campaign, but Howe informs him that the Crown has a different task for him. Allcock briefed Howe on the current situation. Allcock: "Captain Brickleton @evancelt and Major Wolf @Brickwolf have been dispatched to Oleonda for recon missions and I am preparing to join them. Major Brickford @LM71Blackbird has been dispatched to Neustadt to make contact with Carnite authorities while Lord Spud @Spud The Viking is back in Spudkirk marshalling the growing Corlander forces. Spudkirk has been the destination for our troop conveys and we now have a considerable force there waiting for orders." Howe: "Excellent! First things, Captain Brickleton is now Major Brickleton - I have conformation of his commission from the Palace. Lord Spud also has received a formal commission as a Major as well. Major Wolf will be given brevet rank of Colonel and will be the ranking officer on Oleonda. Once the reconnaissance is complete we will decide our next course of action. I will travel to Spudkirk, then potentially on to Fort Arltrees to liaise with the Bluecoats. You, Sir Dirk, will use your considerable experience in establishing new settlements to lead an expedition to Arlintina and establish our presence there. It has been our goal for sometime to claim the island and the damn New Haven sea is becoming far too crowded these days to put it off any longer. Choose a site, establish the basics, send for colonists and defend against anyone foolish enough to contest Her Majesties wishes." A reworking of my South Western Frontier MOC into a BoBS setting. I completely redid the base (although the frame and shape stayed the same) and the landscape also was changed out. Some minor tweaks to the building and the addition of a roof. The greenjackets (95th Rifles) are from KTownBricks.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
How did you manage to solve this? If I cut and paste from your posts when editing the exsisting entries it works fine - but when I use the BB code from Flickr it inserts the white background. -
Sorry, I forgot about this question. So, tricky question. Technically we should track who owns the troops in each location... but we don't... Basically troops are complicated, and to make my job easier, the account sheet only tracks who owns the for the purposes of upkeep, while troops in a location are only tracked by number, not owner. I could query the paperwork and see (if it was submitted) where yours are, but if Oleon has 70 troops on Terraversa that they are happy to say are yours, then you can move them as you wish. (does that make sense?). In Corrington we solved ownership issues by saying private accounts can't own troops, only the faction and chartered trade companies. We discussed doing the same for Oleon with your leadership at the time - I even think it was agreed on, but has never been actioned. To move between locations that are conected by land, you can do that without transport, just submit a troop movement form.

It's new, from this set: https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/horse-transporter-60327 I got it for my daughter and swapped the horse for a reddish brown one - she hasn't noticed... yet!

It was great seeing this come together and the final product does not disappoint. We don't see much snow in BoBS which is a pity, because it looks great. Bold move using dark orange for the path - it works far better than I would have thought dark orange should in a snowscape! The troops look fantastic - the new sand green bellhop torso is a great addition for building armies from the period. Very nice work and it's great to see an NPC nation being fleshed out.

Wow! Impressive collection, one day I hope to be able to get down to Melbourne for Brickvention! Glad I could inspire you with the pagoda. I think my favourites are the middle eastern inspired buildings. I have a half finished mosque that I will one day get around to. The reddish brown dome is especially well done - that I may have to try and replicate - I have a Byzantine inspired build I am planning that it would be perfect for. Well done and welcome to Eurobricks!

Nov-Dec Account Summary Please note, I haven't had a time to add upkeep expenses for the last tMRCA yet. I'll hopefully get to that soon, but it is very time consuming so rather than wait I decided to release what I have now. Any issues, let me know.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II

A figbarf for Altonia (because why not?!): From Left to Right: Hussar (Light Cavalry), Linieninfanterie (Line Infantry), Alpiner Jäger, Frei Jägerkorps (Mercenary), Landswehr (militia). -
As autumn hits the (strangely temperate) island of Lacryma, the resilient trappers are still active hunting for pelts and furs in the wilderness far from the colonial settlement of Elizabethville. Here a trapper and his faithful hound skirt along the edge of a large stand of Aspens, displaying their brilliant yellow hues as the leaves turn and fall. Nothing revolutionary, I just wanted to use some of the bright light orange leaves I recently got from the PaB wall and @evancelt's recent Elizabethville build motivated me to put something together. Also mixed in are some AltBricks Yellow and 'Med Tan' leaves - AltBricks seems to no longer be in business as the website is defunct.... which is a great shame, their leaf colour range was awesome. I couldn't decide on another Western build or a BoBS build, so in the end I went for one which could easily be both :)

[COR-FB] Primitive Accommodations, Elizabethville
Ayrlego replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful work Evan, Birch/Aspen forests always look great in Lego and this is no exception! I noticed that the PaB wall has the bright light orange leaves at the moment and I got a few last time I was there (on a side note, Canberra now has a Lego store - no more having to travel 1000km or overseas to the nearest pick a brick wall!!!) - I'm debating whether to go back and get more! The olive works well with the mixture of light and medium dark nougat for the landscape. Did you say the carriage was from a kit? It looks really good with the blacksmith horse. That's an interesting technique with the roof and walls, thanks for sharing the breakdowns. I have a feeling that roof technique especially will come in handy in the future. I have a running table scrap attempting a similar sized cylinder shape (it was going to be for a windmill), it's supposed to taper towards the top but I've never really progressed beyond the experimental stage. It's not my technique, but I can't find the origin to credit it at the moment. -
Thank you all for the comments! Thanks Evan! As I mentioned elsewhere, the yellow doesn't really match very closely IRL. The colour on the can is 'Lemon Yellow' and it falls somewhere between bright light yellow and normal yellow. I had a closer matching yellow, but went with the lighter option to try and distinguish between the yellow 'skin' and neckerchief. Thanks! I actually built this one so that I could put an interior in (very rare for me!). However, I only did the inside of the fire place and ended up leaving the rest bare. I've saved the cabin itself to recycle into a future Brethren of the Brick Seas build, so there is still a chance I may do one... Thank you. I debated whether or not to use fleshies or yellow... in the end I'm not sure why I went with yellow but I admit to almost instantly regretting it after I took the photos!!

After successfully completing their northern patrol, 1st Lieutenant Dirk Allcock's troop is assigned the more challenging South Western sector, near the ill defined southern border. This area has a vastly different environment to the cooler North, here the pine forests give way to arid grasslands and desert. The locals are a mixture of races and cultures and the cavalrymen encounter many colourful characters. At a traditional southern house, the patrol are welcomed by the locals, who offer them a place to stay for the night. In the morning, they will continue to search for the bandit gang plaguing the area. Tonight; however, they can relax to the upbeat music and fiery food of offered by their hosts. The next in my Western series, I really enjoyed this one and have been wanting to build something Mexican themed for a long time now. The house design was much inspired by @Norton74's Mariachi wagon and Mexican house, which I have admired ever since I first saw it! As with my colonial builds, my extensive childhood collection of off-coloured white came in handy again! I deliberately used the same base as the North West Frontier MOC to highlight the contrast in the different environments (definitely not and because I'm lazy with bases... !) I've seen the dinosaur flippers used as plants before, but I designed (for me) a new way of supporting them. I put together a breakdown in case anyone is interested below:

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
If a deadline has been set, @Capt Wolf usually creates and pins a thread that outlines the deadline, current trade values etc. Previous example (no longer pinned as deadline has expired): -
Oh I do like this a lot! Firstly (and usually most importantly for me) the colour palette works superbly to convey a swampy, tropical feel. It's a bit brighter than what I have thought of Stormhaven in the past, but it works well. The 'wooden' sections integrate well with the terracotta roof tiles (something I don't think I've seen on a wooden building before - very nice!), but the really genius part is the black part at the top. I don't know how to describe it but something about how that section ties the rest of the building together really makes this build 'pop' for me. Overall an excellent job and a definite GoC from me!

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol. 7, Issue 1)

Great work as always Capt Wolf! No more excuses for me not to get to work on the Nov-Dec account sheets now! -
To ease his new troop into the western routine, 1st Lieutenant Dirk Allcock’s troop has been assigned a patrol high up in the Blocky Mountain ranges to the North West of Fort Legoredo. The frontier here is relatively peaceful, although life is still hard for the pioneers who populate the wilderness. Allcock rides ahead of his troop to talk to locals along a mountain track. I'm taking a bit of a break from building pirate/imperial themed builds for a while and am planning on some western builds, inspired by @evancelt's recent efforts in that genre. This the the first, I have similar 'Western' and 'South Western' frontier builds planned to match this one. I may also try some smaller supporting scenes... I guess I'll see where I go from here... Yellow scarf is a standard Lego white scarf that has been desecrated painted with spray paint. Repeating rifle and cap-lock musket are Brickarms.

[OL - TROOP] 1st Grenadier Guards Heading to New Haven
Ayrlego replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely way to display a great column of troops! -
For EGS purposes Corrington has not yet landed troops on El Oleonda, although we are massing in the New Haven Sea. Outside of the EGS, players are welcome to tell their own stories. I'd guess that in the above mentioned cases Evan and Brickwolf have landed small contingents outside of the EGS to conduct scouting missions etc for background flavour.

Something I didn't mention in the other thread that is more noticeable on this version is the brick build backpack - I've seen you use it before but the detail is really great on this photo (by that I mean very copy-able!!!)

[OL - FB] Hoang's Coffee House, Jiangkai
Ayrlego replied to Khorne's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It's a bold choice of colours with the yellow and contrasting azure but it works really well with both the colours and style being instantly recognisable to south east Asia. I've not been to Hanoi but I can vouch for the uniquely French influenced architecture Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City (here's Allcock showing off in location!). I love the detail of the SNOT work in the columns at the front - it gives a really unique look to the building. The SNOT roof sides are also a great way of getting a different angle on the slope and one I will likely borrow at some point. Anyway great work as usual, I always love seeing a new MOC from you! I have wondered if Oleon would change Jiangkai to something more... well Oleonese (like St Axel or something). I guess you guys have decided to continue using the Lotii name after all! -
I really like how this turned out, especially the mix of colours of the roof tiles. The large tree in the foreground works well but I am not sure about the top? The alignment of the top layer of leaves looks off, maybe because they are angled differently to the rest of the tree. Maybe weaving three large leaves together to get a more conical look might look more natural? Also nice use of the skunk! I'll have to get a move on with my 3rd cavalry builds! edit: here's what I mean by weaving three leaves together:

Brilliant work - I admired this when I first saw it on Flickr! The stone work looks fantastic - just the right about of texture for that rough look and the timber sections blend right in - the whole effect is really very good!

Nice work on the base and integrating the rockwork into the olive plates. It's always nice to see old Fabuland pieces included and the cauldron is great in this setting. Nice work
