  1. I ran the train for 3+ hours on a charge at Brickworld Chicago last year on our club layout. I used the LiPo battery pack and did not run it at full speed. The train was closer to 29 feet long and was in 2 turns at the same time, but was able to take advantage of the long straightaways that were almost 60 feet. It does sound like you were getting wireless interference at the venue.
  2. Do you have the infrared reciever as pictured by dr_spock? If not, take an axle piece and turn the orange round piece at the top and turn it off of 0, then the motor may start running.
  3. I realy like what you did at the bottom of the falls with the trans-clear bricks. and 5 months, wow...
  4. For the windows I used 6 1 x 2 x 2 in black, you may want to look what colors are availble in that part.
  5. I like the change of windows! But now it makes me sad they don't come in Light Bley :( re 7939 cargo train: I would suspect it does fit. The EN is > 8 studs wide.
  6. Packing up seems to take much less time than assembly. I guess I don't care as much about how it goes back into the box :) I am interested in the issues you had double heading the trains. I have double (and triple) headed my maersk trains w/o any issue. I did find I didn't need to until I went full length (26 cars with 52 containers), but I also have 2 motors per maersk engine. Was there any other PF displays going on? Could it have been wireless interference? The 2 x 2 jumper tile is a godsend, I use it all the time for my minifigs too. I'm constantly finding I don't have enough. Congratulations on finishing your first show!
  7. How did day 2 go and the teardown?
  8. Nice! Is the back detailed or just plain?
  9. Testing the trains that I have (EN, Maersk, HE, 7938 (Red Passenger train), Santa Fe, and BSNF GP-38) the only one I can't get into the shed is the EN engine, the passenger cars fit if you make sure the doors are all the way closed (very tight clearance). Also with the 7938 and HE make sure the pantograph is all the way down. The EN needs to have a 2 brick wider opening, not to mention moving some of the interior details. The height seems to be OK.
  10. Nice! I also like that you did a box truck, not a common lego build.
  11. Until I saw Kristel's comment I did not notice the use of color, it was so subtle. Then I looked at your flickr feed and I knew. This is the most subdued use of color I have seen from you. Your eye for color just leaves me again in awe. A very nice build.
  12. I agree, I am still interested in seeing how the colors turn out in real life. The lighting on the render is all wrong. My next project may be creating the IC I-ball version.
  13. Here's a pic of my mods: I added the row of bricks at the bottom, except for the sliding door where the extra row was added above it. I wound up extending the two middle arches from 1 x 6 x 2 to 1 x 8 x 2 bricks. As for the 1 x 16 Technics bricks, there is no reason that you can't use a red instead of the dark bley. More pics can be seen here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=553218
  14. Nice work, I also really like your tan & green tram on flicker. The only comment I have would be a suggestion if you could swap out the technics axles for the train bogies. My fear would be that it would mess up your nice work on the outside of the wheels (the 5 stud technics beam, etc). The metal axles have much less rolling resistance but if you are not going to run the car much, that is not really as big of a concern.
  15. I have also seen one done in all black with northfolk southern decals on it, looked quite sharp! I only have a photo from the rear: https://www.pirzyk.org/zenphoto/index.php?album=lego/northern-illinois-lego-train-club/niltc-cantigny-2014ℑ=a_norfolk_southern_7034_back.jpg
  16. I wound up BL'ing the set using Dark and Light Bley instead, PF Track, and making it 1 brick higher (to fit the newer trains) and an overall foot print of 32 x 48. I used the 1 x 4 x 6 Light Bley Door frames (because of the 1 brick higher). By doing some selective substitutions for the expensive parts it can become cost effective. I need to post some pics....
  17. Using the assembly like this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2878c02
  18. A very impressive station. Do you have an estimate of how many bricks? And how long have you been working on it? Well done.
  19. I have my sensor in the driver's seat and it does work through the windows. if you like the look of 10233 get it now. It is only going to get more expensive as time goes on. The EN is crazy $$$, I'm glad my SO bought it for me when she did. I would rank them: 1 EN 2 Maersk 3 SantaFe 4 HE but that is my personal opinion. The EN does not run as good as the others, but its looks put it in a class by itself.
  20. Very Impressive both in build and decals. Did you make the decals yourself or are they off the shelf?
  21. The level of interior detailing is remarkable! I love the catwalk and the machine tools. It reminds me of a souped up Train Engine Shed (10027). I would say contrary to your thoughts you are a very gifted builder and I value interior work as much as the exterior. Thanks for sharing!
  22. Looks to me it has been abandoned or the owner did not realize the domain registration expired and someone else grabed it up :(
  23. On the Internet no one believes your a dog.

  25. It is always interesting to hear other's decisions on how they design their MOCs, thanks for sharing. I'm not sure I could have come up with such a good looking station even in twice the time. Are there any pictures of your station at the show? I could not find any, so far.
