249€ for the cargo train would be insane. 60052 is a vastly superior set that doesn't sell at 179€. Mine cost 139€ years ago. Nowadays I can get it for 128€ shipped. Here's how much people appreciate the included truck: https://www.ebay.de/itm/LEGO-aus-60052-City-Guterzug-Eisenbahn-Lastwagen-NEU-ungeoffnete-OVP/173071443299?hash=item284bdca563:g:UB4AAOSw~HBaS~M~ Resellers can't even sell that thing for 8€ shipped. Since they won't have to include a receiver anymore and BT tech is dirt cheap nowadays, there really is no reason why the new cargo train should be more than 159€. Actually, make that 149€.

It's simple, really: Make two or three trains for the kids. They don't have to be super realistic but they have to have certain play features like doors and windows. Once you've got the kids covered, make a Creator Expert train every 3 or 4 years. If they did that, then there wouldn't be nearly as many complaints. If they have no plans for another Creator Expert train, then they should be honest about it and tell us. Most of us would be disappointed but at least we would know what to expect. I'm sure that most of the frustration and anger is caused by uncertainty and the feeling that we're not being taken seriously. Trains being allowed on Ideas and even declared "staff picks" adds to the confusion.
-
I really have no problem whatsoever with those trains being aimed at kids. I did not expect them to be as good as the Creator Expert ones. That being said: I'll wait for the parts list to go up on Bricklink. What I really don't need are yellow bogey plates. If the battery box and motor are being sold seperately at roughly the same prices as the current ones, then I'll go that route.

You've got my support. I checked your comments and sure enough that EDxAS guy posted there. No kidding that guy supports and comments on everything in a desperate attempt to raise awareness of his own idea. So annoying.

I too would like to know. Would be a nice surprise and very unexpected if the new trains had lights. A few days ago I watched one of the videos by "Held der Steine" and he made it sound as if he already ordered the new sets for his shop but of course he isn't allowed to talk about them, at the moment. He said that he was looking forward to reviewing them, though.

That is true but rumor has it that the new PF2 system will not need a seperate receiver. It's rumored to be built into the 4 stud wide battery box. That would be awesome, it that turned out to be true.

If you don't want to use G scale track, then I'd use two regular LEGO train motors and put the large BBB wheels on the sides as decorative pieces that can hide the train motors. That's pretty much how I "motorized" my 8880 Technic Supercar when I was a kid. When I realized that LEGO didn't want to sell me another Creator Expert train, I decided to spend a couple thousand Euros elsewhere. Beware! Spoiler:
-
With the new PF2 components this shouldn't be as much of a problem. Just a single cable from the locomotive to the boxcar.

I quite like it. Nice colours and details. Well done.

I still feel that a smaller starter pack similar in size to the Winter Village Train would be a better starting point. With only two waggons but with a decent selection of parts and at a lower price point of around 69.xx€. It wouldn't include PF but could easily be upgraded, would be much more affordable than a 120€+ set and would also make a good set for parting out. Even better with the usual 20% discount. Those who don't want the doors and windows will be able to sell them for more than 10 cents/piece. Win/win. This is what I have in mind:

Thanks for sharing those PDF files. I own most of those catalogs and flyers myself but getting them out of storage always is a bit of a hassle. I recently scanned two Enlighten instructions that I wanted to share so I know how long it takes.

I've been in the same situation. In the early 90's I tried to use the parts from my Metroliner for a bigger train and back in 2012 I ended up getting a few cheap (incomplete) Playmobil locomotives for my parent's garden. They cost me less than 40€ each. I modded them with real RC parts and am pretty happy with the result. With LEGO I would be worried about losing bricks or my parents complaining about them getting torn to bits by the lawnmower. If you get around to it, then please feel free to post a video.

Same. I really want to try out the new PF system but I don't want to buy those sets. I do not like what I have seen in the leaked images and I feel that if I was to buy those trains, then they could think that people are actually happy with those designs. I still think that trains without proper doors and windows are a massive fail. To me the waggons of the passanger train are boring boxes on wheels with zero play value and no interesting pieces that I could use for MOCs or sell on eBay.

Released on April, 1st 2009 as a S@H "exclusive", when hardly anyone had a smartphone and many people didn't even have a PC at home and/or access to the internet. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/10194_Emerald_Night Also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_crisis_of_2007–2008 I bet you're not alone, though. I don't think the geniuses over at LEGO HQ managed to figure it out on their own. BTW, I didn't buy an Emerald Night even though I may have been able to afford one. On the one hand I didn't like the fact that you had to buy multiples in order to get more than one passenger car and on the other hand I really hated the brick built doors. I still don't like them.

Most definitely. Not just in here but also in other topics.

TLG's disappointing 2017 financial performance

China already has Enlighten's "War of Glory" line of sets and the quality of their bricks got shockingly good. Not sure how LEGO wants to compete with them but I wish them the best of luck. If they do end up focusing on China then maybe we'll finally get another Creator Expert train. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Reading comprehension? All I said was that they're better at producing consistently coloured bricks. Something that LEGO hasn't figured out in more than 10 years. Also, when I'm saying/asking "You know what's sad", then I'm surely not praising their products or their business ethics. My English may not be perfect but it can't be that bad. And yes, I do expect them to fix those issues. Especially for promo shots. If I didn't care about LEGO's future, then I wouldn't be vocal about crap like this. Again: Reading comprehension? I posted this because some members were (and still are) complaining about the dark red roof pieces on the soon to be released Jurassic World set. Yes, I'd expect issues like those to be fixed after 10+ years. Either fix that or stop pretending to be a premium brand. Re-read LegoModularFan's, Bricked1980's, Lyichir's and Capparezza's posts. Use Google translate, if English isn't your first language. -
This.

Youv'e got some really impressive pictures in your Flickr account. I also like the scanned Castle ads and the picture with shelves full of older LEGO sets.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Classic LEGO quality control. Here are a few pictures that I took about a decade ago: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=366522 Those came from brand new 4954 and 4998 sets. I contacted LEGO's customer support and told them that I wasn't happy with my 500€+ purchase. No fucks given. None. They didn't even replace a damaged plate that came with one of those sets. That's part of the reason why I'm not sugarcoating things anymore. There's no excuse for that. Especially, if they're charging us premium prices. It's not as if they're producing those pieces in small batches and they've been working with plastics for more than 60 years. You know what's really sad? Lepin seems to be better than LEGO when it comes to producing consiteltly coloured bricks. -
I wouldn't bet on it. I wouldn't bet on them ever releasing another train (after the 2018 ones), either. However, if they were to release another Hogwarts Express, then those windows are a must. I'd hate to see them ruining yet another train by cheaping out and using those ugly "Panel 1 x 4 x 3" or "Panel 1 x 2 x 2" as windows. I'd also like to see them use real train doors in a matching color in order to add play value. For the AFOLs they could simply add a little brick built structure that can be swapped out. You can't imagine how much I'd love to be able to buy train doors and windows in dark green. I've been waiting for those ever since they introduced the new colors.

Same can be said about set 4000014.

BrickTracks has a 14% Valentine's Day promo code. Valid until the 18th. Can't believe this hasn't been posted, yet.
